How long is the wait after medicals??

I was just wondering how long is the waiting period after Ottawa recieves the medicals. It has been just over a month, that Ottawa recieved my medicals as per the doctor's office and the tracking # for the medical package. Also, E-Cas still states the same date when the application started processing and there has been no changes in there as well. Please let me know, a timeline as it is varying a lot with each and every applicant. Thanks!!

Hi faria,
We are both Feb. applicants. Nobody knows when is the expected PPR releases. The way I see it, the process is getting slower and inconsistent.
Hopefully we can receive any good updates on our applications asap. Just wait and be optimistic..

I am in the same situation as you.
If no background check, then it normally takes 8 weeks after medical done.
If background check, it may take around 1 year after medical done.

What kind of background check is done, does any one have an idea. I sent them my RCMP clearance, with the initial application package. Also, I was in Canada before turning 18. Is it that, it takes longer for people who provides a police clearance from their parent country, or do they just check the ones they got from here?? I hope they speed up the process. So many ppl are yet to recieve passport requests.

Hi fox2cool,
One year? really?....maybe not for CEC...we are in Canada already.....if it takes one year to have backgroundchecks done well this is not CEC...

to faria:

First of all, such background check (BC) is not done by Canadian Immigration Center. For some selected cases, or if visa officer thinks a BC is needed due to whatever reason, then your file will be given to those government agencies, especially national security agency. (RCMP will not do this). Criminal record or RCMP clearance is not sufficient when dealing with NSA etc. They will have their way to verify certain things, and they normally will not contact you or inform you.

Normally, if you are in BC stage, CIC should send you a letter, with contents looks like:

" Your application involves consultations with other visa offices, government departments or agencies. You can expect to hear from us once these concultation have been completed. We regret being able to provide a specific time frame, but will contact you as soon as possible." etc..

I copied this from other forum. For FSW class, there are lots of people got BC-ed. For CEC, there are some. Nobody knows what is the percentage. Normally, BC takes around 1 year after ME done, or even starts before issuing ME. And nobody knows what is the main reason that they BC you. Most applicants are not from war or terrorism region. They may have tons of reasons to verify something about you.

If no BC is on you, then PPR should come after 8 weeks of medical report received by Ottawa.
Let's see and wish everyone the best luck.

Adding:
Interestingly, most people that got BC-ed, eventually their application will be approved, as far as I heard. It just takes a long time. If you still receive anything from CIC after 3 months from the time of you ME done, you'd better check with CIC what is going on. Many people realised they are BC-ed from CIC.

For those got ME done in May, we should wait until August (>8 weeks), before checking with CIC.

to foxfoxcool:

Fix a typo:

If you still DO NOT receive anything from CIC after 3 months .......

I wish this is not ture for CEC class, but the truth is many CEC applicants are experiencing this. Some applicants did ME last year/Jan/Feb and is still waiting.

I just checked E-Cas this morning, and underneath the status of my application it says "Medical results have been recieved". This statement however was not there last week, when I checked it. Also, it states when my application process started, which was in March 2009. Can someone please let me know, what this means. Thanks!!

I hope PPR comes fast by another 2 weeks. I am leaving my full time job in Toronto and moving to Thunder Bay for further studies. With the PPR, I could at least pay Landed Immigrant Tuition Fees. International student fees are triple the amount. I have a question, which is with PPR request, do we go to Buffalo, and get our PP stamped, and then use the US/Can border in Buffalo/Niagara Falls to land in Canada. As I am moving to T-Bay next wkend, I was wondering if there is anywhere else I could go for the stamping of the visa. To my understanding, until I am an official landed immigrant, I would be still paying international tuition fees. Please let me know guys!! Thanks!!

Hi Faria,
As far as I learned from this forum, you can send your passport via courier(Fedex, DHL, UPS etc.) to Buffalo or if you have a U.S. visa you can go directly to Buffalo to get your passport stamped and land as the same time.....
Wait for the actual PPR on the mail for more clearer and actual direction from CIC.
Hopefully, this will help.... good luck again!

I have a US visa, and I usually go NYC couple times a yr for vacation or long weekends. I was just getting a little anxious as T-Bay is 16 hrs from Toronto, so was hoping if I could get it in the next week or so, then I could go to Buffalo, b4 school started. Otherwise, I have to miss classes and take another trip to and from T-Bay to Buffalo for the PP stamp. I have seen that mailing the passport usually adds another couple weeks. Even if it would be harder for me to come back to Toronto, and then go to Buffalo, for the PP stamp, I rather miss class 2 days, n get it all over at once. I hope some more ppl get PPR coz, there are a lot of applicants ahead of us, who have not recieved them yet. I was checking thru my IA form, and realised there was a 2 week time line from the time they issued the IA to the date I recieved it in the mail. Thanks for all the inputs.

You will need to wait for the letter. If you want to go to the Buffalo Office in person, you'll have to present the letter. The instructions will be on it.

I honestly don't know the time b/w the status changes and the letter is received. I never checked e-cas and then on June 10th I received a letter that was dated May 28th.

With regards to international fees, you can tell them that your PR is due anytime - they might give you a fee deferral period for a few weeks. Also, if you do end up paying international fees, they will reverse charges and refund you. I used to work in the Financial Aid office at UofT.

Thank you everyone for all the support. I finally got my PPR in the mail today June 30/09. The letter was dated June 24/09. I am hoping to go this Thursday July 2/09 to Buffalo, and get my passport stamped. Currently, just gathering all the documents I need to show when I land back in Niagara Falls. They have requested 3 photos and proof of funds upto 10,000 Cad. Other than that, there was nothing else. I might take the bus from Toronto to Buffalo, if I cant find a ride share by today. The timing for dropping PP to Buffalo is Tue and Thurs from 8:00 - 11:00am and then pick up time is around 1-3pm. I hope everything goes smooth. I will update my landing experience later on Thursday evening. Congrats to all the others who have Medicals Recieved in E-Cas. Just a couple more days guys, then the PPR should be coming!! Cheers:) oh, Happy Canada Day everyone!!

Well I read the landing procedure, and it clearly says, that if we have a job in Canada, a pay stub should be more than enough. But I am just taking my updated bank book along with pay stub. You never know, what they ask, while landing. Will give you guys all the details tomorrow evening. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the passport stamped on the same day from Buffalo.

Hi guys,

Just a quick question, I am planning to mail the passports to Buffalo, NY. In this case, do I need to mail the original work permit along with the passport? or I don't need to mail that. I am wondering what do I need to do after I received the passports, like can I drive to the US and drive back to Canada as landing? what kind of documents do I need to bring with me? On the letter I received from Buffalo only asks me to provide "proof that you have sufficient funds available for settlement." so in the case can I just bring my bank statement?
In the letter, it also asks me to provide the height and eye colour for me and my family member. I am not sure how to provide the info for this part. Like do I just need to write it down on the paper they provided? or?

Thanks :)

Hey Faria

I had a question for you when you submited your application under CEC. You said you've been in Canada before turning 18. Did you have to get a police clearance from Canada OR did you have to give one from your home country? Or both?

I am about to apply - have been in Canada since 18 but have not had any period when I was out of the country for more than 4 months.

Cheers

Hi Canimmigrant,

Do you have any suggestions or advices on my situation? I filed my application to Buffalo in June and was informed by mail that my case was proceeded on June 12, 2009. Since then, it has been about 4 months and I haven't received either a mail or E-case update. The waiting time seems to be a bit longer than my girl friend's. She applied her in April and got everything done at the beginning of September. I was worried whether there was a mail sent to me but I was missed and then decided to email Buffalo regarding my concern. so far, I have emailed them twice in August and recently. However, I was pretty disappointed with their response shown as below and it was helpless. They neither answered my question nor direct me.

"Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.
