Buffalo Applicants in Final Review Stage |

This thread is meant to update the status of all Buffalo FSW applicants waiting for PPR after having sent their meds in 2009, especially 4-8 months ago; as well as seek any relevant news or comments from members.
A few members had commented in Nov 2009 that some of us (those in the final review stage) may get PPR from Buffalo in Dec 2009, while others should get it in Jan 2010. I am referring to those who have sent in their meds many months ago.
Has anyone felt any activity in their files this month?
Comments please...

My file was transferred to the NY office. I sent my medicals in July and emailed them in November. I was informed that there is a large volume of applications and they will contact me before the ending of December 2009. So far, nothing!
|
Going to send med SOON after I finish my med exam tomorrow.
Good luck,

to chrstw71:
Thanks for that update. That's what I wanted to know - have some members received PPR request in Dec?
|
by the way, just ordered CAIPS note yesterday and hope get it before Feb and see what is going on.
|
to huanhuan19:
hey seagull,
Ecas updated today that "medical status have been received". I am one of the final review club ones. Though MPA told me way before in November that everything is received by CIC and Doctor also told me that they sent my medicals in May 2009 but Ecas has been updated today to Medical Results Received. It is still "In Process" but when i click on "In Process", it says Medicals Received.
|
to fantasticman:
Same here - my eCas updated today too and now says "meds rec'd..."
Congrats! The file is finally moving towards the final stage. Do you think this eCas update occurs after the final review has been completed (which should be just a 15-20 minute job)?

to seagul and fanstasticman
Hello guys, congratulations, your Passport request is on the way, I read Buffalo is sending PPR by email so check your inbox and junk folders. A few days after my e-Cas changed to Medical Received I got my PPR.
Good luck !!

Do we ever provide our email address?
Oh my, I hire a rep to help me, did he provide email address to them?
It would be much faster to sending PPR by email.
By the way, what PPR stands for?
Thanks
|
to huanhuan19:
Congratulation Guys!!!
My ecas still the same. No update on my side :(
|
to huanhuan19:
PPR = Passp[P]ort Request
PR = Permanent Residence
|
to rose2008:
Thank you Rose2008.
I check my postal mailbox, email and email junk folder 4 times per day :-)
|
to seagull:
haha seagull, you are damn right, i do it too, 4 times a day :)
thanks rose for the information you provided.
Ksandip - dont worry man, we all hope and pray that we all get our PPR's soon. amen.

to fantasticman:
My medical was done April 2009, nothing till now (under new rules) applied Mar.2008, even the status did not change to medical received and all it says is (we received your application on.....), do you think I will ever be updated? I am already in Canada for three years as international student. Any comments guys?
|
to canadastar:
Sorry to hear that. I can understand your situation, having done my own meds in May 09.
Since you are already in Canada, I think you should try getting CAIPS notes (which will be free for you), or atleast writing an email to Buffalo for status update.
|
to seagull:
Thanks seagull
Do you think writing an email to Buffalo will delay my application even further? I heard that when you write them an inquiring email, it delays your application, is it true?
|
to canadastar:
I think writing an email every now and then is not good, but in your case, it is genuinely required.
If I were you, I would write them an email saying:
"Dear Officer,
Please refer to my application # ....
It has been about 8 months since I did my medicals. Can you please confirm if your office has received my medicals, and give me a case status update?"
Don't worry, writing an email 3 months after sending meds is commonly practiced by most people on this forum. If your office is CHC Buffalo in US, then you should get a reply in a day or two.
Best wishes!
|
to canadastar:
You're almost certainly on background check. You country makes much sense.
Now the most common timeframes I noticed are around 6-8-12 months.
The best piece of info I've found explaining this is http://www.roadtocanada.com/forums/showthread...
|
to canadastar:
Thanks for replying guys. I guess I will write them an email. It already has been along time waiting, and I do need to know why is it taking too long after the medical.l
|
to canadastar:
hey canadastar
Send them a query immediately!!! dont worry about rumors that it will delay your application. It wont!!! i have sent them at least 4 queries in 4 months (1 query each month) after medicals.
So dont worry, and send a query, you deserve a reply!
|
to seagull:
CIC made my day today. Received our PPR today by email and I am required to submit our passports by march 2010.
As per the latest developments from seagull, fantasticman and my own case it seems like they are gearing up for backlog clearance during first quarter of next yr.
best wishes to all and happy holidays!!
|
to trackittracker:
congratulations trackitttracker- CIC made it a very happy holidays for u.
|
to trackittracker:
Wow trackittracker, you must be thrilled to get such good news on Xmas after such a long wait period, longer than most of us!
My best wishes!
|
to trackittracker:
Congratulations and good luck.
I hope I am right like some others who think that Buffalo finally started issuing visas and finalizing applications. I am praying I am next in the queue.
|
to trackittracker:
Have you found out you were on background check or just they have processed it so long?
|
to canadastar:
Thanks guys!
An observation based on my case (seems like I attract anomalies! ). I thought it might be helpful to some of us.
- I had my medical done in april 09 and my spouse got her med. done in june 09. Our passports are valid for atleast 3 more years.
- We are required to submit our passports by march 2010.
Conclusion: This case scenario dis-spells the common belief on PPR request validity - valid for 1 yr. from the date of your medicals or passport expiry which ever is earlier.
|
to flaring:
I was not on the in-depth background check list. I know that because as per my CAIPS info. (up till aug. 09) my background and security (RCMP name check) checks were done, medical report results were perfect and updated on case file.
Reason for delay: Spouse med. test report from DMP was received at ottawa CIC med. services in june 09 (as I previously said I attract anomalies!). The report results for her med. test were finalized at Ottawa but somehow weren't updated on the CASE PROCESSING VISA OFFICE'S SYSTEM where they could be updated on my file.
It wasted and delayed the process completion by at least 3-4 months.
|
to trackittracker:
trackittracker - its not the PPR request validity its rather the immigrant visa that will be stamped on ur pp, issued valid till 1yr from ur medical or pp expiry date if earlier. in other words u will have to complete ur landing by then.
i hope this help clear the misunderstanding.
|
to trackittracker:
Oh, I did my medical in April 2009 too, I hope there will be some good news soon on the way both for me and all the rest .
|
to trackittracker:
Congratulations trackittracker.
Hope you will celebrate your Christmas more than what you have thought you would.
|
to trackittracker:
Thank you. Did CAIPS show anything in regards of possible background check?
I mean smth like BC wasn't needed or BC was requested and going on or why you were put on it or what type of BC?
|
Congratulations Trackitttracker.
|
to seagull:
My file got actually got transferred from Buffalo to new york in June. I did my medicals in July and ecas updated to medicals received in september. And yesterday i received ppr in physical mail addressed to me and inside the envelope there was a ppr request letter for some other person. I have emailed ny today lets see what they have to tell abut this mess.
|
Hi Guys,
I got the PPR request email today. That was so surprising since I did not expect to have that by email. There are some links in the mail body showing the procedure for submitting the passport. In that link, it mentions that for people who have address in Canada (I live in Canada) should mail their passport to an address in Ontario, Canada. But I remember I've heard people here who had sent their passport over to Buffalo, NY. Could somebody help me on this letting me know which address I should mail passport either in Canada or States?
Thanks and merry Christmas

Friends - fantasticman, hope101, ksandip and others: several members on this forum have received PPR in the last few days, including today, by email. I hope our PPRs are on the way too, in postal mail, perhaps. Please update your status (in your profile) here on trackitt as soon as any of you get the PPR. If I don't get it by 03 Jan, I will send Buffalo an email, this wait is driving me crazy!
|
to seagull:
i sure will- i hope i get the opportunity soon. For now please try and think of all blessings of life you have and enjoy those to the fullest. You must relax and take easy, for our friends at Buffalo will do so next week - Buffalo is closed on Dec 28 and Jan1.
|
to hope101:
Thanks hope101.
Ahmad, congrats on your PPR. Cheers!
|
to seagull:
Thanks Seagull,
I wish you guys get your PPRs soon as well. No need to mention that some of you guys get yours in the mail rather than email which takes some more days.
Good luck all

To final review club
Guys i received my Caips notes today: Paper file sent to RO and FILE BFD date to ROW is 01-01-2010 (1st Jan 2010) - now isnt that the holiday? Also What does RO means? If it means Review Office then what does ROW means???
SEC CRIM field is empty. Now what that means?
Medical is M01 which i know is perfect. It means they have received medicals? am i right?
Points are 86.
wht else should i look at guys???
|
to fantasticman:
any idea what date were the notes printed?
are 'Paper file sent to RO' and 'FILE BFD date to ROW is 01-01-2010' in the same line?? i think RO is initial of officer. i believe 'FILE BFD date to ROW' shows up when the file is in final stages possibly it denotes final review. you already knew from MP, that ur is in final review, so caips notes confirm that position.
moreover check if there is number against BDEC and FINDEC - if they show 1 ur all set.
|
to hope101:
RO i think is Review Officer and ROW i think is Review Officer Word (maybe) just a guess.
CAIPS also contains in Notes section the query from MP. So yeah the file is in final review and the BFD date is 01-01-2010
Nothing in BDEC and FINDEC.
CAIPS notes date? from where i can find this out?
|
to fantasticman:
Hi Fantasticman, good that you got your CAIPS notes. Thanks for pointing it out in my profile section.
Well, I don't think anyone really knows for sure what RO and ROW mean exactly - there are many viewpoints about them (names of IO, names of deptt/system, etc.); but the important thing is that RO and ROW are kind of irrelevant! What is important is BFD - 1st Jan. I am sure mine would be the same as yours; since my earlier BFd's were 1st Nov and 1st Sep 2009, so they are putting BFD's after 2 months everytime.
As pointed out by others, you have to see the digit code under or in front of BDEC, FINDEC, CRIM, SEC, etc. In my case, with CAIPS printed in mid Nov, they were all empty (just like your situation). M01 is perfect - so medical is indeed cleared.
The CAIPS notes' date is usually written between "lines" as shown below...
=========================Date XXXX==============================
... at several places in CAIPS notes. I think these are those dates whenever CAIPS notes are updated. For instance, you might find the date just below your medical notes - which would tell you when the medicals were uploaded.
Overall, I found CAIPS quite useless at this stage and in our situation specifically, except that you can check everything is spelt correclty, RPRF received, medicals ok, etc.
The critical thing to watch for is FINDEC, etc. which the immigration gods have not updated yet ;-)
But, thanks for telling about BFD of 1st Jan. I am now going to sedn them an email on 3rd Jan, asking status update, since I know IO would have looked at my file on 1st Jan. Cheers!
|
to seagull:
Yeah, I've got some activity on my file.
I have been blocked on bg checks since I did my meds in march 09. Now I am aware of a correspondence on its way to me. My hunch is that it is the PPR.
Cheers, Happy Hollidays and Merry Christmas!

to fantasticman:
Hi Fahad, Though I'm no expert, but what I understand from my CAIPS Notes is:
RO: Means 'Re Open'. Our VO/IO sends our file to his departmental staff, to open the files and update the 'docket sheet' attached to it. These are internal case progress notes and for action to take by various subordinates. -No particular meaning for us.
ROW: Means 'Re Open Work'. This is something like the BF'D. But on BF dates the VO/IO reviews our files, while on ROW day it is only his subordinates who need to 'work on' the file. Link-up all documents, scrutinize all applicable sheets are attached etc, for marking it 'ready for VO/IO'.
SECCRIM: This field being empty is actually a "good news". It means that there is no record against 'Security Criminal' for an applicant. This shall only be converted to CDEC once the PPR is issued.
MEDDEC: M01 here reflects that the applicant has 'passed' his medical tests. -Again a 'good news'.
I hope that makes some sense.
Regards.

to qorax:
Qorax,
Canada needs people like you to work at Citizenship and Immigration. I bet if you apply there you will get a well paying position. Also, you will get great job satisfaction.
Have a Happy and Peaceful New Year.
|
to neel09:
What was the person's first name?
|
to qorax:
Thanks for that info related to interpreting CAIPS.
As always, it was very useful to me too.
|
to qorax:
Thanks qorax for such a great deal of information. You should work with CIC and earn $$$$ :)
I just need to relax and wait.
I found out from Trackitt that people who got ROW in the caips got PPR request in a months time.
Lets wait for pet6121 caips notes.
|
Just wanted to know if status, for the people who have got ppr ,
has changed in ecas?
|
to rinks25us:
No, it hasn't. It is still as it is since the year 2007
