Decision made and how long? |

I checked my e-cas yesterday and it changed from "In process" to "Decision made".
It was still in process last week, but it changed this week.
I've already done the medical and sent my passoport as well to NY office.
Anybody can guess or tell me how long it will take me to get the passport back
from the office since e-cas changed to Decision Made?
When does usually e-cas change to "Decision Made"?
|
Usually Decision Made signifies that the visa has been placed in the passport.
I am curious to know when you sent your passports to ascertain a timeline as to how long it took them to do this as we are in the same position, passports are with New York and awaiting the visa being added
|
to willibobs:
I sent them on 14th of January and they received them on 18th of January.
When I checked e-cas last week, it was still in-process, but this week, it changed to Decision Made.
What I am wondering is if Decision made means it, and so the visa is issued on the passports,
then they should be here by now because I enclosed a pre-paid UPS return envelope when sending the passports.
It takes only 2-3 days by UPS from New York to Nova Scotia in Canada.
Do they never use courier service in no matter what case?
Only use US regular mail? Even though I provide them with the pre-paid envelope?
|
Was the UPS a corporate account? if not they will not use it to return your passports, they will use USPS (standard mail from the US)
Decision made does mean that the visa is in your passport and ready for mailing out.
They are slow, our PPR letter was dated December 17TH 2009, but they did not mail it out to us until January 7TH, and we received it January 13TH, i sent a case specific e-mail January 9TH enquiring what the status of our file was and they responded January 13TH that they mailed our PPR request on December 21ST 2009, but we know from the post mark date on the envelope not to be the case!
|
to willibobs:
Where do you live, Willibobs? Are you in US? or Canada?
When did you send your passport? What does your e-cas show on your application at the moment?
|
I'm in Alberta Canada, sent the passport yesterday to New York and tracked as arriving this morning
|
E-cas is showing "In Process" which i am expecting to stay at that until the visa is in the passport, where are you? Canada or US?
|
to willibobs:
I am in Nova Soctia. It normally takes 9-10 days by the regular mail from NY office to get any mails.
I hope I can get them among next week..
|
Hi Flora, have faith, you should see your passport back this next week with the shiny visa attached, i would appreciate it if you could keep me up to date as to when you do get your passport back please. Like you, i am desperate to have my visa to activate the PR and move on with life.
|
to willibobs:
Thanks, Willibobs.
I will keep you posted!
|
To Flora 723
You are more than welcome, and again my thanks in advance for keeping me informed as to when you get your passport back. Did you place everything in a seperate envelope within the envelope you sent to the New York Consulate? just curious as my wife didn't put our passports etc in a seperate envelope within the courier envelope!!!!
|
to willibobs:
I didn't seperate the passports. In fact, my husband is the principal applicant and I am the dependant.
So i thought i didn't need to put them seperated. I put the photos in seperate small envelopes as they directed on the letter.
I put the passports, photos in seperated envelopes, RPRF(fee), the letter that they sent to me asking to return to them
in another seperate envelop with our file number written on the surface, and I put that envelop into the UPS envelop.
I hope really badly to get my passport back this week!
Wish me luck, Willibobs!
|
to Flora723:
Hey guys, same here. My status showing DM and waiting for passport back from NYC...
Good luck both of you.
|
I noticed my e-cas changed to decision made on Jan 25. My immigration rep couriered it to New York on Jan 13, so I am assuming it arrived on 14 or 15. Anyone sent their's out around those dates?
Pretty anxious to receive it back as I would of thought I would of received it back by now (currently in Alberta, immigration rep getting it sent back by courier).
Good luck to all and I hope we all receive our passport with PR visa this week :)
|
To Flora723
Fingers are crossed for you, I think you will get them either today or tomorrow.
|
I prey that we all receive our passports this week, so desperate to have the process finalised
|
to willibobs:
So do I!
I believe in God and I am sure he will lead us in a good way!
|
to Jason1982:
Thanks, Jason!
When did you send your passport?
|
to Flora723:
They received mine on Jan21.
|
to CalgaryCutie:
Hi Calgarycutie,
Any news from NY yet?
|
to Flora723:
Hi Flora723
No still waiting :( Do you have any news yet?
|
to CalgaryCutie:
Nope.
Nothing in my mail box...not even a flyer...
It usually takes 9-10 days from NY to Halifax here by the regular mail.
And my status has been changed to DM since last Tuesday (26th in January),
which means, according to some other people, they already issued the visa
before 26th in January.
so if they sent the passports before or around the 26th of January,
then they should be here by now...
but.....
|
to Flora723:
Hi All,
My application says in process and the final medical report has been sent to Ottawa. I have been reading this chain here. Why did you all send Passports to NY, when you case was still saying "In Process". Did you get a letter from New York to send in your passports? I am in Toronto, Canada and would most likely travel to US to get the visa stamped (just as my friend did).
|
to itsmeamit:
For my case, yes. I did get the passport request letter from NY visa office.
When I got it, my e-cas was still being shown as "In-Process".
I think 'willibobs' and 'Jason1982' are all in the same.
|
Hi all,
Still no updates at our end. We had request from New York to send passports to their office as our file was processed there.
Let's keep this thread "alive" and hope we all get our passports soon. It seems such a long wait to clear this final hurdle!
|
to Flora723:
I am really worried about my passport..... On January 25 my status changed to decision made and my immigration lawyer included a pre-paid courier envelope from a corporate account so I definitely am thinking it should of been received before now :(
I will update on here as soon as I get it back.
If I have still not heard anything by next week, I may sent NY an email.
|
to willibobs:
Crazy how long it takes to get passports back, especially considering some people seem to get it back from NY within 1 week. Pretty unfair I say :(
|
Can any one please let me know wheter the PCC and FBI clearance can be obtained before receiving the nomination?
|
to Flora723:
My immigration lawyer's office just emailed me and they have received my passport :)
Flora723, mine was sent back by courier so I am guessing if yours was coming by regular post that you said get it in about 2 - 3 days time as it seems that our visas may have been approved on the same day.
|
to Flora723:
how did you guys check your ecas? Mind does not seems to work on the cic website
|
to CalgaryCutie:
Gratz CalgaryCutie!! happy for you!
After we pick out your letter can you tell us when it was dated and when it was mailed out?
Thanks in advance
|
Congrats Calgary Cutie, thats great news, fingers crossed for the rest of us now.
Flora723, you must be close now, i'm sure it will arrive tomorrow
|
to CalgaryCutie:
Wow~~~
Congrats, Calgarycutie!!! It's so good for you and i am very much happy for you!
What is the date that the visa was issued?
|
to willibobs:
Hi, Willibobs!
Thank you for saying that..I hope you would be right..
It's Wednesday tomorrow, ALREADY...
I am starting being worried a bit...to be honest..
|
to keiesha:
Hi keiesha,
I've checked your timeline thru the track and I figured you sent your application to the visa office in Nov,28, 2009
and you're waiting for AOR,right?
Before getting AOR, you can't check your status in e-cas because your immigration file number hasn't been created yet.
When you receive AOR, we will be able to see your status in e-cas.
We should allow the visa office to have at least 12 weeks for backgroundchecks since you sent your application.
You sent it at the end of Nov, so you might be contacted by at the end of this month, I guess.
Just take a deep breath with patience and wait just as all other people here are doing.
Good luck!
|
Thanks for the congrats :) My fingers are crossed that you all receive your passports this week. I really hope to be saying congrats to you all soon :)
I am picking up my passport from lawyers late tomorrow afternoon and after I have picked it up I will let you all know the date my visa was issued and sent.
|
Flora723
My fingers are crossed for you.
Calgarycutie,
Thank you, we would all appreciate the update on the date of your visa issuance, don't forget to let us know where and when you will be landing as it would be nice to know how this went
|
to willibobs:
Hello Everybody,
I am also waiting my passport, I have sent my passport to NY consulate on 18 Jan 2010. I hope I can get this week also. When I check the people time line, they are getting in 10-15 days.
Also, I emailed NY consulate, I heard emailing to Consulate is not good idea. They are delaying your process if you email or call. Is that correct?
Thanks
|
to Efortune:
Hi Efortune!
I don't think the consulate would delay your process on the purpose just because you inquired as to your status.
BUT it might not be a good idea to inquire them regarding to your status too soon after you send your passport.
They received mine in 18th of January 2010, and I haven't got anything yet, but I haven't emailed them to ask
what's going on. I will do it if I don't hear from them in this week, though.
Let's get patient! That's all we need now, I guess.
If you hear from NY as for your passport or anything helpful for all of us here,
please let us know~!
|
to Flora723:
Thanks Flora723. FYI, my friend, instead of sending in the passports, took a day off and went to Detroit Embassy and got them stamped the same day. That way he didnt have to send passports and play the waiting game. Also it might be worth finding out whether you can go to any embassy to get it stamped (e.g. your case might be in NY embassy, but can you go to say Deteroit embassy to get it stamped as that embassy is closer to your home). Though this might not be possible for everyone go to US to get it stamped, its a point worth considering if you can actually go to US.
|
to itsmeamit:
I ALREADY SENT my passports to NY visa office where my application is locatied at the moment,
and FYI, NY visa office doesn't stamp the visa in person just like Detroit or Buffalo.
It only accepts passports by mail just as they said on the PPR letter.
There was no other option to me but mailing them.
|
to Flora723:
Aah I c. Thanks for the information. My case is with New York too. Did you by any chance inquire whether you can go to Buffalo for stamping or its a strict no-no for New York.
Thanks -Amit
|
to willibobs:
Just picked up my passport from immigration lawyers :)
My visa was dated 21 January. I do not know what date NY sent it back as I did not see envelope, but given my lawyer used FedEx to get it sent back which would of taken no more than 2 days to reach Calgary, I am guessing that NY didn't actually send it until Thursday or Friday of last week!
I will be landing at Calgary airport on Sunday Feb 14. I was considering doing my landing at the local CIC Calgary office however I have heard there can be quite a long wait to do this so decided to treat myself to a shopping trip in the States.
And I will for sure let you guys know how the landing experience was.
Good luck everyone and really hope you receive your passports very soon :)
Fingers crossed for you all.
|
Calgarycutie,
That is great news, and thank you so much for the update on the time line it has taken New York to issue the visa and passport.
Good luck with the landing process, and i would certainly appreciate the update on how that went, what sort of questions they ask etc.
Again...............BIG congrats
|
Flora723.
Tell me you have some good news? has your passport arrived?
|
to Flora723:
I havent heard anthing from my attorney or consulate.. I supposed to travel on Friday, all things reserved. Nothing heard.. Someone mentioned that their e-status changed "decision made", mine is still medical received. If I knew that will be like this, I am pretty sure I was not applied to canada immigration.. That is really sucks.. Every steps were late.. canada is big lie for everything.......................
|
to CalgaryCutie:
Thanks for update!
Can't think about the reason why took them mailed your passport back 10 days after VISA issued.....out of envelope?
other visa office they using e-mail PPR and allow in - person pickup, its only about 1 hour work to get the passport ready, but took NYC 18 days...
BTW, not landing in Calgary canadian service is a pretty smart idea. I know a guy try to landing there. Took 3 months to get a appoiment and then he went there with his girlfirend who wasn't applied for immigration. so the officer started questioning him why he had a girlfriend but didn't decleared to CIC.......and the end they took his visa away and refuse him to landing in canada......boy...he been working on this for past two years and he failed...
|
to Jason1982:
How can we understand the Visa is issued? when visa issued, the estatus changes to Decision Made?
Thanks
|
to Efortune:
visa issued before you received your PPR.
only thing they need to do is stamp on your passport.
BTW, I heard there was another girl in calgary received Passport back from NYC today. She mailed out passport last thursday and passport in her mailbox today!
I guess they are collecting those passports and wait for monthend send them out all together.
|
to Jason1982:
When did she send her passport to NY? Do you know that?
Thanks
