It sure does look like its slowing down, its so difficult when you want it this bad isnt it, i guess we are all just in the same boat, hopefully things will pick up again soon. It kinda looks like things have gone out in batches in the past.

The other thing to remember is the AOR date is the date of the letter and it can take 10 days to get to you, so thats kind of 5 weeks .... fingers crossed

Did they cash your draft yet? We both applied on 27th
Posted by faria on 13 Mar 2009
Yes, I just called the bank, and they said, it is not in their system anymore which means they have cashed it. I did call the bank last week, but apparently it was still in the system and was not cashed. So I guess, they started the file. How about you?
Posted by favin on 13 Mar 2009
Nothing yet!! they still haven't cashed my draft. I guess its all waiting game now.
Posted by faria on 13 Mar 2009
See, when I called the bank today, they said the reference # in draft is not anymore in their system, so it should be cashed. I might check with someone else regarding this just to double check if this is what they hear from the bank when the draft is cashed.
Posted by favin on 18 Mar 2009
I am sure they cashed your draft. I got my file back but i have already posted it and it reached there today....they are pretty quick acutally, its just the mailing time which seems to be more than 2 weeks
Posted by mdshadman on 20 Mar 2009
Hey faria - best of luck - i applied a few days after yourself - and am from bd too.. so i'll be looking at your case carefully... no AOR either...
Posted by faria on 20 Mar 2009
Shadman, I realised ur from BD. Well I am not expecting an AOR before 2nd week of April. As you have seen that the timelines have definitely increased for recent applications. I think both our applications should be processes in similar manner as we are like 2 days apart. Anyways, let me know if u recieve something. So far, the only thing I know is they cashed my draft as informed from the bank. Keeping fingers crossed. Let us just hope some more people recieve AOR next week.
Posted by mdshadman on 24 Mar 2009
Yeah - I think you're right - lets hope we hear stuff the 2nd week of april and things move forward.

I filed mine through a law firm - so the bank draft was from their account - thus wont be able to find out if the draft was cashed.

See Faria, there you go, you were worrying for no reason! AOR should arrive this week!

And now we all wait a little over a month for initial assessment! (At least that's what I make out based on Jan time lines!)
Posted by gtvyt on 06 Apr 2009
dose E-Cas updates every day? week? save us the constant page refreshing :)
Posted by faria on 06 Apr 2009
Thanks, getcecimm! I got laid off from my job end of Feb, so I was more panicky. It happened the same day, I applied for CEC immigration which is very cliched. I was wondering if u can log into E-Cas, coz ur profile stated u could not. Well about IA, I have no clue when it should be coming. I guess we might have to wait and watch for some more applicants ahead of us to recieve it 1st, with the increased timelines, in order to estimate something. Thanks for all the support.
Posted by faria on 06 Apr 2009
Well I dont think it updates every day since in the website specifically mentions that it updates mostly on Tuesday. For my application the process started on a Tuesday which was March 31st, however even when I checked E-Cas last Friday, there was no info available. This morning it appeared in E-Cas. I guess, it takes couple days to have it available on the site. But I am not too sure.
Posted by gtvyt on 06 Apr 2009
Thanks for the info.
Posted by getcecimm on 06 Apr 2009
Hey I checked today! I can log into CIC using my client number now. So all is good! What type of job were you in? Perhaps someone here may have some leads at their respective companies!

I was working as a Metallurgical Process Engineer for a mining company. Although, I graduated in Chemical Engineering.

Faria? Any updates on your IA? I still have not received mine but some people who filled after us got theirs almost 3 weeks ago!

Let me know!

Faria

I have a question for u .. Like u I also did my Bachelors and am working under the work permit. Now, when I graduated I did 2 jobs, one was for 2 days other for 1 month and this is longer term. So, did you also do other jobs or that was the only job did u do? What legal docs regarding work did u send?

T4, notice of assessment ?? What else?
Posted by faria on 23 Jun 2009
Hi Sharuu
I did work on a off-campus work permit for the 1st two months after graduation in a full time job in the mining sector. This was the time when my post graduation work permit was on process. Initially I recieved a 2 yr post grad work permit, specific to my employer, however when the new rule took effect in Summer of 2008, I applied for a 3 yr open work permit and recieved it. I lost my job due to recession this Feb 2009, and was out of work for 2 weeks, however I did recieve my salary for the two weeks I was idle as part of the severance package offered to me when I lost the job. In mid March, I started another job and have been working here ever since.

When I applied for CEC, I submitted 2008 T4, and notice of Assessment from the employer with whom I worked more than a year. Along with that were my pay stubs. I joined the 2nd company when all my files were submitted so I didnt submit any documents for my current company. I also submitted reference letters in company letter head from my manager and another letter from HR. I also submitted some reference letters from my professors and my past co-op employers. I applied exactly with 1 yr and some days of experience in a post grad work permit so I submitted extra references. But I believe, if u go through the manual, it says the format of the referece letter and what things ur supposed to submit. However, I would suggest u to do the digital finger prints and submit it along with ur application. Also, submit ur IELTS, I know it is expensive but do write the test because it saves u from the head ache of explaining them ur english skills in terms of letters and all that. I hope this helps.
Posted by faria on 23 Jun 2009
Jojoli and getcecimm, sorry for responding to ur queries so late. I did get my medical request end of April, and it was completed and sent to Ottawa mid May. Today, when I checked E-Cas it stated that medicals were recieved. However, I am not too sure, what this means. Therefore, I have asked some other members of this forum to further explain me about this status.
Posted by faria on 23 Jun 2009
Jojoli, I would suggest u to update ur time lines in this forum to help other applicants understand the waiting times. Thanks.
Posted by favin on 23 Jun 2009
Thats great they recieved your Medicals. They should be changing E-cas status to decision made. Time for your passport request. Thats what happened with my sisters CES application as well.

Posted by sharuu on 23 Jun 2009
Hey faria

Thanks a lot for the replies. When you mean that submit the finger print with the application, do you mean when I send my file to Buffalo I should go to the agency within my city and get them done? DOnt they ask anything and did you do the same? Your timeline is pretty short and quick, just 4 months!!

Are u in Alberta? and do you think its wise to apply under the AINP also? I have heard though CEC is faster? You did not apply under the AINP ?

tum khoob bhalo raho :-)

Thanks !!
Posted by faria on 23 Jun 2009
Hi Sharu
I am in Ontario, currently stationed in Toronto. I submitted my fingerprints along with the application package which was sent to Buffalo, the reason being that if they ask, I dont have to waste time doing it then. Make sure, u do the digital ones as it is sent instantly to RCMP, and they in turn send it to the authorities. The time frame for the finger prints could take max 3 weeks if u dont have any records. However, if u dont recieve the finger prints within 3 weeks, u might need to worry about it. But I hope that should not be the case. I have absolutely no clue about the AINP program, so I would suggest u to seek help from someone whose from AB. CEC is faster, but often they backlog and if u see the timelines, it doesnt give u a consistent trend. For some people it is way faster, however some has to wait couple extra months.
Posted by favin on 24 Jun 2009
it was like in a week but she received letter after 3 weeks or so. She landed in buffalo and then landed back in Edmonton the same day.
Posted by sharuu on 25 Jun 2009
How will we know if they receieved it? Is it okay if I use Canada Post's PO Box number? I change homes regularly, will that cause any issue?
AINP I meant PNP in Ontario ..

Thanks !! Good luck with your studies and PR!!
Posted by faria on 26 Jun 2009
Sharu, Canada post sucks at least most applicants had difficulty with canada post, sending their applications n all that. But if u change addresses regularly, I suggest u to use one particular PO box #. The mailing system varies a lot, and sometimes it takes months to recieve documents from CIC. So dont give too many addresses, use one particular one. Be extra careful, if u have to update an address change as well. For that, email Buffalo, as an online change would not be updated into their system. I suggest u use Fedex or canada post with the option of a person signing when the mail is recieved at the destination. That way, when u get the tracker # u can track the package and the date of arrival of ur documents in Buffalo.
Posted by sharuu on 26 Jun 2009
Hey
Well, I was talking about getting a PO Box numbder from Canada Post. Will it work? Does Fedex or others also use that system? I have heard CEC is taking time, hopefully things come up for u soon :)

Hi Faria,

Shortly after I received your comment, I logged in to my E-Cas account in CIC website and I realized that it has been updated to "Medicals have been received". I believe it was updated recently, about Monday June 28th, by the end of last week. I know this bec Ive been checking it often. It took about 2 months to see the update since the medicals were sent.

Good luck

Landing Experience: Took the 6:50am Grey Hound Bus from Toronto Bus Terminal. The ride in the bus was hectic, as it was rush hour in QEW. SO be prepared to wait longer in traffic. Reached the border at 8:30am. There is construction going on the US border/customs area, so only 5 ppl could get off the bus at a time upon reaching Buffalo. I just told the US side, I am going to Buffalo for PP stamping. I paid them $6 for the I-94 card, and then the immigration officer took a photo and finger prints of both my index fingers. Reached the Buffalo Terminal at 9:45am. Walked to the 1 HSBC centre. It is about 5 minutes walk. If anyone is taking the bus, I suggest them to just ask any one where the bldg is located, u wont miss it, as there is HSBC logo on it as well. There was apparently a big line up. I forgot tomorrow is 3rd of July and it is a long wkend in the US. So we lined up at the lobby area, where it said Canadian consulate visitors. Two ladies came from the consulate office after 45 mins, to give us visitor stickers. I was the 200th visitor at 10:45am. Then we were escorted to the 30th Floor. Upon reaching the consulate, people with PPR were told to stand in Booth 2 for dropping PP and photographs. Once I dropped the PP, I was given a card with a # and said I would be called after a bit. The lady specifically mentioned not to leave the consulate. In the paper it specifically said, PP pick up from 1:30 - 3pm, but I guess they just wanted to stamp it in a bit. So I sat there another 30 mins, and my # was called for PP pickup at 11:30am. It is this big paper, with all the landing info in it. Also it comes in a white envelope that they give u, and there is a place where there is a signature required, and the lady asked me not to sign on it. The signature has to be witnessed while landing by an officer. So donot sign there. Also, she asked me to double check all the info in that landing paper.

I left the bldg, hung around the Main Place Mall, had chinese food for lun

Hi Faria, how many months did they give for you to make your "first" entry to Canada?
Posted by faria on 03 Jul 2009
After checking all the documents, I went straight to the terminal, and got on the 2pm bus. I told the driver I was going to land, so he let me out ahead of time when we reached Canadian border. I gave my PP to the officer, along with my study & work permit, and I told him I had to land. After checking through my PP and study/work permit papers, he escorted me thru these 2 doors, into the other side of the bldg. I waited there in line for the next officer to call me. The officer asked me for the landing papers, and I gave her my permits, PP, and all the previous (expired permits). She destroyed all of them. I took my updated bank book, as a proof of fund. Make sure u take at least a bank statement / updated bank book, or a pay stub which has ur employers name and the salary. There was this other guy, who didnt have any proof of funds in the same bus as mine, and he was not allowed to land and was sent back to US. Also, the officer asked me several times, if I had any properties, cars, jewelleries, I would be be bringing to Canada, and I said No to them, as I dont have anything like that to bring from back home. Then she finally let me initial in two places, and the signature was done beside the PR photo. She told me that my PR would be mailed to me in 6 weeks, and I should not leave Canada, until I recieve that, as they might create problems for me in the border or airport, as landed immigrants, we are entitled to carry PR card at all times. Then she finally said, Welcome to Canada. You are now officially a Canadian Resident!!! SO I got on the bus ,and headed towards Toronto, and witnessed 3 accidents near Oakville, which made the drive 3 hours.

Posted by faria on 03 Jul 2009
So finally a PR of Canada. Now I am just going to wait patiently for my PR card. I just passed G-2 road test today, so really excited about that. I am moving to Thunder Bay tonight, so could not go to Service Canada office today. I think I would be able to go there, on Monday to update my SIN and Health Card. I guess thats all I need to do for now. Good Luck everyone. For me it took, just about 4 months, so hang in there and ur applications would also be approved. Thanks to everyone for all the support.

What do you mean by proof of fund? do CEC needs that?
Posted by sharuu on 03 Jul 2009

Congrats Faria.
Also could you please tell me if are required to apply for a new SIN number? Or you can keep your old SIN number till it expires?
Posted by wispy on 05 Jul 2009
Congratulations Faria! Wow, that's good to know about proof of funds. Sucks to be the guy that was sent back to US.
Posted by faria on 06 Jul 2009
@ GTVYT:
Well, a white landing paper was given to me by the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo, with which I had to land in Canada. I realised that the officer from the Canadian Immigration did type in the amount of money I have in possession while entering Canada as a landed immigrant. She also asked me to show any proof of funds, so I took my updated bank book and my pay stubs.

@ ajay123:
I just changed my SIN # from Service Canada (HRSDC). Before I used to have a SIN that started with the #9. However, now they gave me a new # starting with #5. I didnt have to pay anything, instead they took my parents names at birth, showed them my landed paper and the passport, and gave them my updated address at Thunder Bay. The rep. said it would be mailed to my new address. Also, they told me to inform my employer about the new # of my SIN, as it is effective immediately.

E-Cas states: We started processing your application on March 31, 2009.
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.
Medical results have been received.
You entered Canada at the Fort Erie Peace Bridge office on July 2, 2009 and became a Permanent Resident.

Hi Faria:just a quick question, do you have the initials of the immigration officer on any of your letters from cic?
Posted by mdshadman on 08 Jul 2009
congrats faria
Posted by faria on 08 Jul 2009
Hi tracker 46, it was O'Brien. A couple of us had him as our immigration officer. I think he is the best so far in terms of timelines and all that. Thanks everyone, I hope all ur applications gets approval asap. Good luck..
Posted by gtvyt on 10 Jul 2009
Hi Faria
Hope you settled down well in North Bay.
I'v just received my ppr. the letter stated that i have to show them proof of funds (directed to the fsw website). it looks like a general letter but they really check that for the CEC? i do have contract until 06/2010 and even new full time permanent position offer letter and of course the pay subs from the last 4 years....
Thanks for your input
Posted by faria on 11 Jul 2009
Hi gtvyt, congrats on the ppr. While landing the officer at any border would ask u for proof of funds. I would suggest u take ur recent bank statements, which could be ur monthly statement, or updated bank book. I dont get statements, as I use a bank book, so I took that with me. Also, I changed jobs after I filed for CEC, so I took my pay stubs from my current company. I think for any single person, u have to show about $11000 Cad. So just take a couple of things for proof of funds. I saw 1 guy getting rejected to enter through Buffalo, who was in the same bus as me just because of not having any proof of funds. Also, I took my old jobs pay stubs as well. I have a chequing, savings and a US account, but I think the officer just took a look at my savings account bank book as it had the most money. I later realised, that she updated the amount of money with which I was entering in Canada into the white landing paper.

So to be on the safe side, just take ur contracts, an updated bank statement or bank book and ur pay stubs. Anyone of the above forms of proof of funds should work, as they look at it for a split second, but just for precaution, take them all. It wont hurt to have extra documents while ur landing. I hope this helps. Congrats again for the PPR!!
 Posted by endlessecho20 on 11 Jul 2009
well! i was not asked for proof of fund niether during my processing at buffalo nor at the port of entry. It is very disrectionary and depends on your case.
Posted by faria on 12 Jul 2009
endlessecho20, u applied with a provincial nominee program, so ur case might be different. not to mention ur case took more than a year to process. for cec, most of us got our cases approved in about 4-5 months. so i just posted what i thought was best for the other applicants and what i personally experienced myself at the border while i was landing. i guess everyones case is handled differently, as they are judged by a different officer.
 Posted by endlessecho20 on 13 Jul 2009
Faria ji FYI I applied in December end 2008 it took me 128 days, getting immigration from either way got nothing to do what you need to show at the port of entry. I did land at fort erie and understand it well too. CBSA has discretionary power to ask you proof of fund doesnt matter whatever category you have applied thru.
Posted by faria on 13 Jul 2009
endlessecho, no matter how many days it took to process ur case, all i mentioned to the other applicants was what i experienced at landing. I was also not asked for any proof of funds while applying for CEC. I had a full time permanent job with the Hydro at the time, so a letter from the employer and a copy of my pay stub, n tax return was enough for filing my application. Anyways, according to various posts most ppl who went across the border suggested to take some form of employment letter or proof of funds, while landing. For my contentment, I took everythng just so that if asked, I could provide all the documents. So I have a question, did u recieve ur PR card already? Also, did u go change ur OHIP card. I have a OHIP card that expired in 2011, so do u think I should still go and change it? Let me know, thanks!!
Posted by gtvyt on 13 Jul 2009
Thanks Faria!
Another question if you may know...
We have to leave Canada about a week after landing for two weeks. I heard a rumor that i can't get in to Canada without the pr card which i won't have (probably). Do you know anything about it? Did they instruct you not to leave Canada until you'll get the pr card?
Posted by faria on 14 Jul 2009
Gtvyt, I was planning to go to US for the civic holiday wkend in Aug 1st wk, and when I asked them, they told me not to leave Canada without recieving a PR card, as border or any port of entry officials could deny my entry to Canada.
 Posted by endlessecho20 on 14 Jul 2009
I am still waiting for my PR card as they entered my name incorrectly. However, I have received both SIN card and OHIP card valid until 2015. Anyway, I am very sure you do not need to change your OHIP card until 2011. Once it expires then get a new one. Yes, it is good to carry all the paper work with you during your landing process, I did the same, but sometime you come across with some CBSA officer at the port of entry who do not question you much, in my case I was asked my address and phone # without looking into any employer or proof of fund etc. but the officer somehow entered my name incorrectly in PR card database grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... which is causing the useless delay.
 Posted by endlessecho20 on 14 Jul 2009
You must have a valid PR card inorder to get back to Canada. If you belong to the visa waiver country then you may be granted permission to get back in Canada even though you do not have a PR card.
Posted by faria on 15 Jul 2009
Just recieved my SIN card in the mail today. the number starts with a 5, unlike 9 which was issued to be when I 1st came to Canada. Now patiently waiting for the PR card, hopefully in a month it should be here.

Hey Gtvyt,

Congrats on your ppr.

When did you e-cas status update to medical received? We seem to be on the same timeline, as i did my medical a few days after you did, but my e-cas hasn't changed, nor have i received my ppr yet.
Posted by gtvyt on 15 Jul 2009
Hi Canadadream
My E-cas changed 3 days after receiving the PPR which means about a week after they issued it.
So be patient as you can and you probably get it in a few days.
Posted by faria on 15 Jul 2009
Canadadream, my e-cas was updated a day b4 ppr was issued. however, i recieved the ppr in my mail exactly after 1 week. so hang in there, it should be updated by next monday.

Hi Faria and gtvyt,

Thanks guys.

God willing, i will receive it in a few day. I'm hoping next week.

Hey Faria & gtvyt,

My e-cas was updated to "medical received" today, I'm very happy about that. How long was the wait from when your e-cas was updated to medical received to when you got your ppr.

Also, i'm not employed at the moment, but I do have a job offer, i'm waiting for my visa to come through before i start. Do you think a letter from my future employer will be enough? As i don't have proof of funds, only a E.I. payment.

i have not recieved it as there is a problem with my landing paper. the immigration officer, forgot to update my place n date of landing in the white paper, so it has been postponed. i called cic, last thursday, and asked them what was going on, n they said it would be delayed by at least a month or so. i feel like punching the officer, coz of that weirdo, it is now delayed. god knows when i will recieve my card.
