It's nice to see how everyone is progressing, also that we're going though the same visa office! All very nervse racking, I hope everyday that something will change..... Oh well, 75 days in, must be half way there right?!

Good luck!!!!!

Thanks for the comment. Send me a comment if you or if nicanac have any questions on the process. It's easier when you have someone who has been through it already.

Good luck! My best advice is make sure your dates and addresses are correct and do the checklists given for each packagebefore you send them off. Any discrepancies or deletions will slow you down. Even if they are honest mistakes.

How's the wait going? I'm starting to go slightly crazy.... it's like waiting for exam results!
Posted by nicanac on 06 Mar 2009
Same, I'm going crazy, I'm definately developing some sort of of OCD - I check the online application status far too many times a day!!! But you're right, each day is a day closer...... just hope it's a day closer to a WELCOME TO CANADA instead of a reject!!!

And, what is an AOR date? I feel like I really should know this by now.....
Posted by nicanac on 06 Mar 2009
Ah - thank you! They sure so like to keep us guessing!!!!

I'm in Toronto. It's me that is requesting the visa - I'm from the British Isles. My working visa expired 2 months ago, but I have another application in process to extend it, I'm still legal to work, so I suppose I'm kinda lucky in that sense. Still doesn't make me not fear the visa rejection though ( I thought Canadians would favor the Brits and just give us all visas without applying ;) Ha. )

I went to Alberta for my first non-Ontario trip a few weeks ago. Went to Banff - absolutely loved it.

Are we on the same boat? Applying thru In-land Vegreville Alberta? Waiting for at least 6-7 months?
I was expected to get any kind of response by April, then after calling them, he informed by June.

hey we got a letter saying it is transferred to local office.
Posted by elfut on 01 May 2009
yeah without AIP. local office is in Kelowna, BC. I live in Kamloops BC, 4 hrs drive away from here.

Why do you ask AIP was not given or now when we received the note saying its been transferred? getting worried now haha.
Posted by elfut on 01 May 2009
There is nothing in there except saying that our application is being transferred to the local office in Kelowna for further assessment. If we have anything to update on the application contact CIC immediately. The local office may contact me for an interview or information.

There is nothing about open work permit or AIP. But i did applied for work permit as an extension of my visitor visa.

that does not look so good...oh man oh man. thanks for the link.
 Posted by sponge362 on 01 May 2009
You could also try calling the 1-888 number to get more information as to why they transferred your application.
Posted by elfut on 02 May 2009
nope the 1800-CIC doesn't carry that information on why. The local office who has my file should has all the answers and there is no way you can contact them but they can contact me at any time for further inquiries and added information.

Did you sent out your country's Criminal Record check together with your application?
Posted by nicanac on 11 May 2009
I really hope so! I'm just hoping nothing comes up that will cause a delay.... my nerves are starting to hate me :)
Posted by nicanac on 21 May 2009
i didn't call - I've done this application through a Lawyer who said not to bother. We should receive a letter in the next week. He said not to pop the champagne yet but put it in the cooler! Apparently if the decision is negative then we would mostly always be asked for further information....

Fingers crossed that it is in fact good news.... not long to wait.
Posted by nicanac on 21 May 2009
I know, I'm with you, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw something had changed on my status, now it's just back to waiting....
Posted by elfut on 21 May 2009
any news for you yet?
Posted by elfut on 22 May 2009
hey buddy

i have received a letter from them again and i am scheduled for an interview in my city. my interview is in two weeks. its gunna be nerve wrecking.
Posted by elfut on 23 May 2009
Thanks but it is not good news yet. I think why they want an interview before AIP cus of many reasons due to where I came from etc.
keep in touch!

rec'd the sponsor approval and approval in principle today. It's almost over, final background checks are going through and they asked for a copy of my new passport..... You shouldn't be too far behind me.
Posted by nicanac on 26 May 2009
Fingers crossed. Although it's probably the same as my case where if it was anything but good news they'd at least ask you for more information. Not long and you'll know for sure!!!!
Posted by nicanac on 29 May 2009
Congratulations!!!!

congrats!

but what does landing appointment mean? We had our interview and it went great. Getting my AIP(Open Work Permit) in a week and PR will be issued in late August or early September. There will be no more interview for us as our case is locally interviewed.
