Request for copy of Canada immigration forms recieved on 15 Jun 08 to get PNP from Alberta. Documents submitted on Aug 06. Receipt acknowledged on 24 Aug that final decision on PNP will be informed in 40 to 60 working days
 Posted by dnataraj1 on 08 Oct 2008
I submitted my documents around same time. (August 11th) And same reply I got "final decision on PNP will be informed in 40 to 60 working days" I have not heard anything yet.

Keep posted so that we can track our progress.

I Was told they are very busy and they have tonnes of applicants to process. They are taking 2 to 3 months. Not to call them since it delays processing.
What to do. If we are making Alberta our new home, we need to get this thing done so that we can be there as soon as possible.

I have a Question for you...I am presently in USA under H1b, when i get nominated for alberta PNP...should i settle in Alberta Right away...or wait until i get my Fedaral PR ..i dont want to move to canada until i get my PR from federal government. Is that Possible ?

When i apply for Alberta PNP under H1B, they said that they would contact my present employer in USA...I dont want to know my present employer to know that i am immigrating to Canada....will my present employer know abt it ?

You can not go to Canada with PNP. I think you are not aware that PNP is just the first step i.e. after initial assessment, they must have sent you a kit in which they have one alberta form and rest are all CIC federal forms. You have to fill them and take photocopy of all of them. This photocopy you have to send to Alberta. Here they take 60-90 days.(Per an earlier case a person who had sent all the documents on 18 Jul got the nomination on 06 Oct i.e. 80 total days. i.e. if there is no query. Then you send the original form which you had filled with this nomination to CIC, then they will issue you an AOR and they will take 6-9 months to complete their processing. Then they will give you a window period of say 10-12 months in which you got to land there.
I don't know what will happen if they contact employer. You can always keep your employer informed. . Strictly speaking they can contact employer to verify. This hey have writeen in their form also.

Am sending the forms to CIC.

Congratulation! greer.

I have a couple of questions for you. I am about send my documents for Alberta Nomination (already received the invitation), but not sure if I need to include birth and marriage certificates as they are not asked for on the instruction. Did you send those docs with your application for nomination?
 Posted by nix1 on 20 Nov 2008
Did you get your nomination certificate on Oct 27 or Oct 16? You have one date on the comment and the different date at the top. It could be that they e-mailed you the decison on Oct 16, but the actual certificate arrived to you on Oct 27. Is that what happened?
Posted by AlbertaPNP on 17 Dec 2008
Hi Greer,
Can some one guide me regarding approximate timelines for the Alberta PNP nomination certificate. My details are as follows:
I have applied for nomination on Sep 23, 2007 (per the postal tracking, they received on Oct 1). I did not receive any confirmation from PNP office, like you mentioned that they sent you a Receipt and infrom you that final decision on PNP will be informed in 40 to 60 working days. I have not received any thing like that till yet. It is about 3 months.

So question is, do they inform anout application received and provide file number or some reference number? And if someone can guide me about how long normally it takes to get nomination from Alberta?

Thanks in advance.

Hello AlbertaPNP,

Write an email to Immigration.Info@gov.ab.ca, Gingie.Welsh@gov.ab.ca telling that :

"You are interested to know if your documents have been received at your office. You had sent the AINP packet along with all the required documentation on 09/23/2008 via post receipt number ******** which was delivered on October 1,2008 at Edmonton,Canada. The green label on the outside of the packet says AINP SRS ******.

Can you please let me know when will I get the file number?"

Then you will get an email from Pnp Office which would say:

RECEIPT OF ALBERTA IMMIGRANT NOMINEE APPLICATION

Hope this helps :)

Hi SUKHMINDER,

Thanks for your response. Per your directions, I emailed to immigration info. They replied that normally they DO NOT send receipt notification or file number to PNP applicants under H1B US Stream Pilot Program. In addition, they also mentioned that now a days it takes about 3 months to process these applications.
So it is little bit confusing that some people get receipt of notification and some don't. Others please share your experience regarding this matter.

Thanks

ALbertaPNP

First step for alberta is to send them one simple application, following which they would ask you to set a complete set of ur employment related i.e. H1B documents. This process is fairly quick (perhaps done in 10 days) . Following this, they ask you to invite you to apply for ALberta PNP and send you a complete set of CIC economic class forms. You have to fill it up, take a photocopy of the entire set and send it to Alberta (the photocopy) and retain the original set with yourself. This process takes exactly 85 to 90 days. Following which ALberta PNP would send you a nomination form and ask you to send the documents to CIC with the nomination. Albeerta give u six months to do this. Now u gather the original which u had filled, attached cashiers check and send it to CIC. Also u get ur police /FBI verification done. U send these documents to CIC and then CIC will generate a AOR for you and ask u to send the police verification, name check, medical or any other documents. This process (I have heard) takes anywhere from 6 to 9 months depending on the canadian consulate to whom u have sent.

I hope this helps.

greer,

Did you send your documents to the Buffalo office? Did you include police certificetes with it? Are we supposed to include the police certificate or do they request it on later date? What about the medicals? Are we supposed to include it with the application or do they request it later too? I know I still have a long way to go, but just wanted to be prepared. Thanks.

There is no requirement to send the Police cert at the stage of sending CIC forms with check for Perm resident fees and PNP. However, at that stage, you can start the process of getting police verification done. I got the finger print check from FBI within 2 weeks.

But I am waiting for intimation from CIC to ask me for FBI /Police verification and medicals.

Hi I have a question in regards to Alberta PNP. Suppose I get my nomination from Alberta. Can I leave US after getting the nomination ?
Will my application be still valid? As I do not want to be here in US while my case is with CIC. Also my other question is if I leave US the how will I get my US police/FBI clearance done?

Kindly suggest. thanks
Posted by SUKHMINDER on 22 Jan 2009
Hello nav2000,
Yes you can leave US after getting your nomination because as far as I understand there should be nothing stopping you from leaving USA, you should have one year of work records in USA on H1B. Your application will be still valid. Your case with CIC will be processed as it is but merely having a nomination in hand and submitting the case with CIC doesnot GUARANTEE you canadian PR. Please keep that in mind before leaving USA.
You can get US FBI Finger printing at any time by sending them your finger prints. There are no separate specific instructions from CIC to get that done. You can have all these things handy already while your nomination is being processed by AINP.
HOW TO OBTAIN A POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM AUTHORITIES IN THE UNITED STATES

Applicants requiring Police Certificates who are currently present in the United States or who have stayed in the U.S. for six months or more MUST obtain police clearance from the FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI).

STEP ONE - HAVE A FULL SET OF FINGERPRINTS TAKEN BY A RECOGNIZED AGENCY:

Fingerprints for U.S. record checks should be taken on the FBI FINGERPRINT FORM. Do not contact any FBI office regarding fingerprinting. A Fingerprint Form can be obtained by requesting one by mail from the FBI at the address listed below.

Fingerprints can usually be taken in the U.S. by a LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. Persons MAY also be fingerprinted at a regional office of the DEPT. OF MOTOR VEHICLES, or from a private organization engaged in the fingerprinting business ($20 fee). The applicant should always specify when making a fingerprinting request that it is required for Canadian immigration purposes.

Applicants appearing for fingerprinting will also need PHOTO IDENTIFICATION, such as a passport. They should also be prepared to provide fingerprinting agents with details including full name, maiden name, any aliases, date of birth, sex, race, social security number, proof of identity, and the reason for reques

Sukhminder ...thanks a lot for such a detailed reply. I really appreciate it. You answered my questions very clearly.
Thanks buddy.
 Posted by nav2000 on 22 Jan 2009
Sukhminder I am planning to get the FBI clearance done as it takes time. Do my son who is under 18 also needs a police clearance?
Thanks.
Posted by SUKHMINDER on 22 Jan 2009
Nav2000,

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application(I've heard that it can be valid for 6 months but not sure about that).

Hope this helps!!
 Posted by nav2000 on 22 Jan 2009
Thanks again.. SUKHMINDER i will research the validity . If it is 6 months then I will probably get it done and if it is 3 then I will probably wait. Thanks.

So anyone knows if Alberta will contact my employer if I apply for PNP? I know they can ... but how often they do? Anyone's employer got contacted yet?
Posted by greer on 24 Jan 2009
nav2000

as i understand, u have to maintain ZZH1B status so long as ur processing is going on either in AINP or CIC. if the status changes, u have to inform AINP.
please be aware of this lest u face any issue later on...
And FBI check is valid for 6 months.

hs2501,

i have not come across where they have contacted the employer.

greer,

Congratulations to you on receiving AOR and medical forms. So, it took them 2 months and 5 days to get back to you after they recieved your application package. If you do your medicals right away and the doctor sends the result soon, it looks like the CIC process can be done in under 6 months (my guess). Does the medical form tell you by when you have to send the medical results to them?
 Posted by nix1 on 26 Jan 2009
Does the medical form tell you which doctor you are supposed to go to?
Posted by greer on 26 Jan 2009
nix1

What CIC has sent to me is an acknowledgment with a case or file number, which is also updated on the case status website, a receipt for the application fees and medical form for myself and family. It is on one page form and the other pages are supposed to be filled by the doctor. Their list is there on the website. No particular doctor is mentioned.

The only thing they have said is that preferably entire family should get med done from same doc, and within 60 days of the AOR to avoid delay in processing. My prob is that right now I am alone and my family is planning to come here by end of next month.

However, since I am only in fourth year of H1B , I think it is a no sweat situation.

Thanks greer. Wish you all the best.

Hi greer,

I was wondering if you can guide me with a quick thing for sending the papers to CIC Buffalo. The guidelines for CIC Buffalo mentions that all the attachments should be notarized. I was wondering to know that how did you get those papers notarized in USA (I believe that you are living in USA)? Did you notarize all the attachments or just wrote an oath and signed in the presence of a Notary stating that all the papers that you are sending are true copies of the originals. Basically how did you do that?

Thanks in advance for your reply.
Posted by greer on 09 Feb 2009
Hey Sukhminder

Firstly I did send all the papers to CIC Buffalo as instructed by Alberta PNP. I believe that the first instalment of papers which u send to Alberta based on which Alberta issues u the PNP is also sent by Alberta PNP to CIC directly.
So bascially when u resend the papers along with cashier's check for processing fees, the CIC compares the documents and even before accepting ur check, they intimate if any document or information is missing.
So that way, u r saved frm resolving issues later on.
Coming to ur query, I did not get any document notarized - which was already not notarized. However one way to do is to approach ur local bank and show them the originals - usually there is a notary in branches - who would do it for you - provided the number of documents is not large. Maybe u can go to different branches if u have many documents. I had an account in Bank of Ameri - and the notary did all the documents within five minutes.
Second alternative is to send them to India.
I hope that helps.

What confusion? What about 38 occupations?
Curious....
Posted by greer on 03 Mar 2009
Hi losgatos

Confusion started with the issue of 38 occupations. As i was reading thru the posts and forum - many ppl are saying that in Nov 2008- some 38 high demand occupations were identified for which there is faster processing instructions and other FSW applications are being rejected.
My case is not FSW - but provincial nominee with economic class. I was wondering if there is any move like that.

Also - I was puzzled coz Buffalo sent my papers to New York for processing. I wonder if it has something to do with that.

Thanks

Hi greer
quick question for you... When did you receive the letter from CIC stating that your case was transferred to NY?
Posted by Paula on 24 Mar 2009
Hi Greer. When did you do your medicals?
Posted by greer on 25 Mar 2009
Jupil

Letter from CIC was in month of Feb 09, I think.

Paula,

I have not done medicals coz my fam was on vacation. Also later I heard - there were some 38 occupations short listed for quicker immigration. My occupation closely resembles one of the 38 but it is not exact match. So was holding on to medical as it will cost me 1000 bucks upwards. Why throw good money after bad in this economy.
Posted by Paula on 26 Mar 2009
Greer, my take on your concern: Why not clarify it with your AINP program/case officer? Your nomination document should have his/her contact info. To my knowledge PNP nominees are not assessed based on federal skills criteria. Nominee eligibility is determined at the provincial level, while security, medical and identity documents are verified at the federal level.

Hi greer
when did you get the letter from NY? did they also request for passports or stating that no interview required and request for RPRF?
than you!
Posted by ingegarcia on 27 Apr 2009
Thanks Greer... I just received an update in my e-Cas... "Medical results have been received."
 Posted by nix1 on 11 May 2009
greer,

They asked you to send PCC again? Didn't you include them at the beginning? OR they asked for State PCCs not the FBI and from home country?

I saw your PERM Labor got approved on May 4th. Congratulations to you. Mine was approved on May 1st.

greer,

All applicants in the Federal Skilled Worker Class must pay their application processing fees to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney Nova Scotia. Do not submit the Right of Permanent Residence fee until it is requested by the Visa Office---

The above info given the following site:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/fees-frais_buffalo.aspx

Do you think it is good to send RPRF (Right of Permanent Residence fee) now?
Posted by SUKHMINDER on 05 Jun 2009
Hey Greer...hows it goin? Did you get any correspondence from CIC?

greer,
Thank you for your congratulations.
I am going to NY visa office in person coming Thursday, i will ask visa officer this question for you

Greer,

-->Please ask the gentleman as to how much time do they take to return passport if we want to do everything by mail.
The PPR letter mentioned
* Passports are sent by mail and returned by mail within 15 business days from the day we receive them. This period does not include time it may take the Post Office to deliver the passports.

Hi,

How many days is allowed to send the passport after the PPR ? Under certain circumstances if passport may not be submitted in time, can we request CIC to extend the date of submission ?
