wow, haven't heard anything about ur cases? Hopefully soon u will. I will file for the I-129f soon for my spouse. Did you use a lawyer to do this?
Posted by toofar on 20 Oct 2007
Hi Believe. Nope, we haven't heard anything yet! According to the dates on the USCIS site, we should be hearing something very soon. Good luck to you. Just be prepared for a loooong wait :(

Oh, and yes we did use a lawyer to file for the I-130 and I-129F.

Toofar, talk to your lawyer, its been too long for ur I-130 over the 180 days (6months) and now your 129F is 183 days, also just over 6 months. Ideally the I-129F is to bring ur spouse faster to wait for the approval of I-130! Those timelines are going too long now, and your lawyer should be on top of this. Also ask him or search yourself if perhaps it might be better to drop the I-129f and continue with the I-130 if they are both approved at the same time. I've heard that alot are being approved simultaneously. And going the I-130 route saves money and process in the end. Keep in touch with your updates, i sure hope u will receive ur notices these days. Some ppl have opted to writting to their congress person, to help when USCIS has gone over the listed timeframe. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips Believe. Since according to their website we should hear something this week, I was thinking to wait until the end of this week and then maybe start looking into contacting congressmen and my lawyer again. I got in touch with my lawyer last month, and she didn't seem very helpful at all. She just told me it's taking a little longer these days and to give it another 2 months, and that it's "normal". She was also saying that it's taking up to 2 months just for people to get their receipt notices these days, so I guess she was just trying to say that everything is a bit delayed right now.

Hi toofar, you might give them this week, and hopefully u will have ur NOA2. But i would not give too much longer since one of ur petitions is already about a month overdue, remember the squeeky wheel gets the oil, hehe. Seriously, when you talk to ur lawyer, as her what is the next step to get this process on schedule, ask her what is her plan of action. This will get her to think or at least you will get an idea if she is remotely thinking about that or just happy waiting for something to happen while u wait. Let me know ur status, i seriously hope u get ur noa soon!

Hi Believe. Thanks, I really hope we hear something soo too. We won't be waiting around much longer. I spoke with my husband today so we can plan what we need to do next. I will let you know any updates.

I called the USCIS today. The customer service rep told me that they are working on April 18th for the I-130, and to expect something by next week, even though they are a bit past my date. She told me to call them back if I don't receive something in the mail by next week. For the I-129F she told me that it's going a little slower than my I-130 and to expect something within 30 days. We are supposed to look at 180 days from the date that the case was transferred to the California Service Center, which was May 11th.

Hey toofar, have you received any news about your case?
Posted by toofar on 25 Dec 2007
Hi nasaki. No, I still haven't heard anything at all yet :( One of the Congress representatives got in touch with me last week and said she will be following up on the case.

Hi toofar,

Do you know what's holding up your case. We filed at the same time, to Californa, and ours was approved on Oct 25 2007.

Hi mccrummy,

I'm not exactly sure. They just told me that background checking is pending. My husband was born in Saudi Arabia, so I'm wondering if they are doing some extra checking because of his background. Yesterday one of the Congress representatives send me an email saying that she has sent an inquiry to the USCIS.

CONGRATULATIONS on you approval!! I am happy to see that u got ur approval finally. I guess that call to your congress rep, helped! Ok, so what is next from here?
Posted by toofar on 11 Feb 2008
Thanks sooooo much!! We still can't believe it FINALLY happened! Next, the file is being sent from the California Service Center to the NVC and the NVC will forward to the London Consulate to set up an interview. The NVC should also be sending my husband a package with information that he needs to send in. He is doing some research on those things so he can have the package ready before he gets the letter. The approval letter says that it is valid until June 6, 2008, so that should mean the interview should be completed by then.

My husband received packet 3 about 3 weeks after approval. He was asked to send in 4 forms asap. He has sent those forms in already. He also needs to gather the requested documents, and then submit a checklist. Once the checklist is submitted confirming that he has all needed documents, the interview will be set up.

That's wonderful news.. so, it should not be too much longer now! You should be here just b4 summer begins. Good luck and keep us posted of when u get ur interview date.
Posted by toofar on 27 Mar 2008
Thanks believe. I will let you know how things progress and when my husband gets the interview scheduled for. It feels like the last stretch of the wait. I just hope things go well and that they happen sooooon!!

Hi Everyone. Just an update...my husband is still not in the US. He went in for his interview in April and was asked to submit an I-601 waiver package. It was pretty devastating for us since we thought he was finally coming. We worked crazily on getting that together for a month and submitted it in June. They said it can take up to 4 months to get a response.
