How was your infopass?

Today I went in for Infopass.

Officer at the infopass looked up my case and said you are all set. I asked him what does that means? Is my FBI name check / back ground check done? He looked it up on the computer and said..yes it was done February 15, 2007

So I said I am all done. He said you are all done.
I asked immigration officers so how long before I see approval for I-485. He said as soon as your dates become current. I said what do you mean date becomes current, because I am current. I am in EB2.

He said No, look on USCIS web site when it says they are processing applications from your time. I said my dates are current. He said wait 30 days. I said I am passed 30 days. Officer said really? I said yes really. So I showed a print out of case status service online from April 18th, 2006 for Nebraska center. It says "I-485 employment based processing date September 11, 2006". My application is June 26, 2006.

At that point the immigration officer said, let me call Nebraska and check what is going on. So he called and he was on hold for 10 minutes and then he talked to some one and then he hung up the phone and told me, your application is still in the back ground check.
I asked the immigration officer that you just said back ground check is done. He said yes my computer says it’s done but Nebraska told me your back ground check is not yet done. Sorry, that’s all I know.

Now what do you think? what are your views on my case.

This is really very strange and frustrating.

I dont even know what to say about it. It makes me assume that USCIS just uses background check as an excuse to delay our application for God knows what reason.

Thats exactly my point. This whole process is bogus. People on this forum and other forums say, i did this and I did that and that and that and because of all that my case was processed so fast. NOPE....its all a luck game. If you are lucky you case can be done in 10 days and if you are not lucky you might be there for 10 years.
I have been saying all along, we people from certain countries are targets. USCIS has this nice excuse, blame it on FBI. USCIS has created this black hole called Name Check / Back ground check just to cover up and delay cases as they wish.
What are your thoughts?
Just imagine a case from a country called .......(its a middle eastern country, i wouldn't name it here) delayed for 5 years. No way. there cases are being done in weeks.
Its up, people like us, who obey all the rules, who pay taxes and who are most favoured nation when it comes to being partner on war on terrorism, its our cases being delayed.
what do you think?

No updates on my case. Last update was Jan 2, 2007. Then the next update was May 18, which say "Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident".
My son is also approved. My wife is still pending.
No RFE either.
My country of origin is Pakistan.
Good Luck to all of you. I feel the pain and suffering you are going thru. Hang in there.
I am still member of this website and well keep on updating you guys for anything I see.

Did you travel on AP? I am just trying to figure if its safe to travel on AP or are there any problems on re-entering especially for us :)
Posted by hopefully on 22 May 2007
Here is my situation. I am dual citizen (Pakistan / Canadian). Pakistani by birth and canadian by immigration.
I am working in USA, as a canadian working on H visa.
When I traveled last time out of US, I had a valid H visa. When I came back I showed AP to immigration officer and they let me in on AP, even though my H visa was still valid. So I had no problems entering into the country on AP.

Congratulations!

Your Infopass appointment is very interesting. That might speed up your case a bit, you think?

Hope your wife gets appproval too. Waiting is OK, but waiting without knowing when is the end is painful.

For the rest of us, good luck. I try not to think about it too much.

Hi, do you usually only submit the initial evidence when filing? Or do you give everything you can think of to prevent RFEs? Thanks.
