Egypt007,

Do you know how long it takes to get to sponsor a spouse and what are the requirements ?

Regards

It takes about 5-8 Months for Egypt...

Check this website out to see the requirements

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

If you don't find what you want, write back, and I'll be happy to help you..

Good luck!!

Thanks a lot for the quick response

I just want to know if I have to have a job to be able to sponsor a spouse.

In other words do I have to meet LICO thing or not?

Thx

I applied for my wife in Cairo in May 2007. They moved her file to Buffalo in August after they approved me as sponsor. Since then it's been dead air after paying the RFPR fees.

Does it normally take much more than 14 months for Egyptians??? I am hoping my wife can finally land before the end of the year or so. This is too long.

Hi Cowboy14,

On the internet it says it should tae 3 months from egypt side, I think it shouldn't be taking that long and I think you might need to request CAIPS to see why it is talking too long.

Thx

Bozo

Thanks for your quick attention. All I did was contact the MP's office last month. They were very nice and responsive but they told me to check back with them in another 2 months!!

Sorry, what is CAIPS?

cowboy14,

You welcome CAIPS is a Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System check the following website to get an idea.
http://caipsnotes.com/index.shtml

so you can use it to see exactly where is your application at.

I have 2 questions for you.

1- Did you apply through a lawyer or by yourself?
2- Do you apply from Cairo or buffalo?

Thx

I had no idea about this! Thanks again.

1. myself .. we thought about lawyer and then decided against it since it seemed simple enough.
2. at Cairo .. then my wife moved with me here in the US. they called our home number and she answered and then apparently they realized that since she lives with me in the US they should transfer her file to Buffalo. After that I got the letter from Buffalo to pay the RFPR fees in August.

Did I have to use a lawyer?

But I think if you are not canadian then you can't apply from outside canada.
are you canadian citizen?

No you don't have to use a lawyer but I think it might has been better because they know allthe tricky stuff..

I see ppl here in the forum getting their spouse sponsored in less than 6 months ....
but hopefully after 2 months as they told you things will be alright.

Can I get your email to ask you few other questions as I am aplying to PR to canada and would like to ask you some questions about job opportunities there.

mine is Islam_cis at hotmail.com

Best regards,

Of course I am Canadian. Otherwise, how would I sponsor my wife?!!

Hopefully in shaa Allah your whole process will take less than 6 months. Most people do. Only our case is weird for some reason :(
