Family Class: Discuss Individual Case
That means that Buffalo has received (and opened ) your application and immigration has created a file. About 3 weeks after having received my aor, I received a letter telling me they sent my file to Seattle to expidite things. They don't always forward applications but they did mine. For me that was 21 days ago. I'm waiting for whatever comes next. Good luck as your process moves along!
Thanks! As of today it is now on E-Cas. It says it's In Process, and "We started processing your application on April 28, 2008." So is that considered my initial assesment?
The letter I received regarding my AOR stated that my file had been placed in a que, awaiting further action on a first come / first serve basis. It sat there for 16 days and was then forwarded to Seattle, Wa. near where I live. As far as the "Initial Assessment" I don't have a clue what that represents. Anyway, congrats on receiving your AOR. I hope all goes well for you...(and me.)
hi there, i am a month behind you. hope yours is done in quick time. please keep updating. will help me plan my move :)
Thank you, I do too. Will keep updated whenever I receive news! Still says In Process on e-cas.
Great news! My file was sent to the New York City visa office for finalization. Shouldn't take too much longer now.
Hi - did you find out about the transfer to NYC from e-cas or a letter rec'd from CIC?
I mean, I know they'll send a letter, but I'm guessing you saw it on e-cas first? My AOR is 2 days after yours so - I'm watching :) I received the letter from Buffalo saying they had sent it to NYC, but it didn't say anything on e-cas about it. It still says In Process. My file hasn't been updated on E-cas since April 28. Hopefully it'll be updated today.
Just as I expected, e-cas was updated today, stating that my file was sent to NYC from Buffalo. I'm hoping that means that it has been received in NYC and is continuing to be process there.
Any news?
Nothing since May 20. I'm headed up to Toronto tomorrow to visit my husband, so hopefully I'll hear something when I come back!
I take that back. I got a letter today telling me that I have to pay the RPRF, but it also says that I have to now get my medical exam done. Well, I already did that back in March, and sent the results with the application. Is this just a standard letter that they send, or why would they be asking me to do my medical exam now?
I haven't heard of this before maybe someone else may have.... I would fax them or email for clarification.... Let us know what happens, we are hoping for a speedy final processing for you!
Thank you! I may give them a call in the morning, or send them an email.
Hey, does your E-CAS say medical results received? Ours does....
Nope, all it says is when they started processing it, and when it was sent to NYC.
Sounds like it may have got misplaced in the shuffle... I would call. We emailed once and it took 2 weeks to get a response - and it wasn't a helpful response. Did you send the original copy of the med exam you got from the doctor's office? Did you go to an approved Doctor? Sorry, I have to ask because I've heard of people going to thier family doctor thinking it's okay. If you did send the original copy, did you make a copy for your own records? Maybe you can fax them your copy hoping they can trace your Medical file?
Yeah, I am definitley going to call, because I'm going to Canada tomorrow so I want to pay the fees while I'm up there. And yes, I went to the doctor that was listed by CIC. I did make a copy of the IMM1017 form (I think that's the #). He did tell me that I passed the exam with flying colors, so I'm not concerned there. I'll just have to see what they say when I call tomorrow morning.
... thought that was likely the case, just asked to be sure. Sounds like an error on their part. Hopefully once it is brought to their attention there won't be any further delays. Best of luck and enjoy your time in Canada! Hopefully the next time you head north it is a one way trip!
Thanks, I'll update after I find out what's going on!
Send a fax with your file # to (613) 954-8653 and ask if they've forwarded your medicals.
From what I've read - they usually respond within a few hours Have a good time up in Canada & here's to a quick PPR :) my e-cas does not say anything about the medical either. should i contact Buffalo? my medical was done by a qualified DMP on April 16th. i have a copy of it. may be it is still in Canada or may be Buffalo has not updated?
Thanks pendergirlie, will have to do that when I return. I sent them an email this morning, so hopefully they will respond quickly. I tried calling both the NYC office and Buffalo office, but no one is there to answer even a simple question. Very frustrating!
funinagg, I would wait and see what they say. They don't always update e-cas, so they may have it. I received the same kind of letter back in September 2007, asking to pay RFPR fees and do the medicals!!! My wife had done her medicals in February 2007 before we applied in May 2007.
Ever since I am TOTALLY unable to get anyone to answer me from Buffalo. It's been 13 months now!!!! I just want to know if she needs to redo the medicals. Also whose fax number is this? Thanks So now I'm going to pay my Right of Permanent Residence fee, but I can't figure out where/how to pay it. I thought I could pay it online, but Im not sure which consulate to choose. Do I put Mississauga since that's where it was sent originally? Or do I put Buffalo since it the permannet residence application was sent there? And then if I choose Buffalo, it says I can't pay the fee online, that I have to send the payment to Ottawa. I don't want to send it to the wrong place. Any ideas?
I paid RPRF on-line to Mississauga. I printed the copy of the receipt and send one copy to Mississauga and one copy to Buffalo.
Yeah, I think I will do the same. We paid it online and my husband is going to send it to Mississauga tomorrow. I will print out a copy and send it to the NYC Consulate where my file is now, just to be sure.
Has your medical thing been sorted out yet, Tibbychick? Did someone respond to you and tell you why you got asked to do the medical again?
Well, I sent an e-mail asking about the medicals. This is the response I received:
"Dear applicant, The letter indicates that you may proceed with medicals (if you have not already done so). You may disregard this as you have already proceeded with your exams. The information you have provided us will be placed on file. We are currently waiting for the payment of the right of permanent residence fee for yourself (to be paid in Canada by your sponsor) and your medical examination results. We have contacted medical services in Ottawa, for results. These are the only pending requirements at this time. " So I'm hoping that they got the medical results from Ottawa already. I sent my receipt for the RPRF to both Mississauga and NYC, and they should both have received them by today. I'm hoping that I get my visa by the end of July, because I'm planning on moving back up there the first week of August. Congrats - looks like you are pretty well done 'cept for getting back your passport with Visa.
:) Well, they haven't requested my passport yet, but as soon as they do it's being overnighted to NYC. I'm hoping they request it by next week.
Oh.
Why the heck didn't they tell you to disregard that message in the FIRST PLACE? Do they enjoy confusing people? >:' Yeah I know, it can be very confusing. I think it's just a standard form letter that they send to everyone, and they just change they part which tells you what additional documents you need. Kinda silly.
I took a chance and sent NYC an e-mail to make sure they had received my medical results back. They said "You have met all the requirements. Your file is now ready for visa issuance and a letter requesting your passport was mailed to you this day." I'm so relieved, I was starting to worry that I wouldn't make it for August. Now I just hope that they are quick in returning my passport after I send it so that I can land in 5 weeks.
Great news!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!11
That's wonderful!!!
Congratulations Thank you! Let's hope everyone else receives speedy treatment as well! I've been reading about how slow and unhelpful some consulates have been, well I must say that the NYC Consulate has been extremely helpful to me and very quick. I am so thankful for that. So, good luck to everyone else. I will update when I receive my visa.
My word, you must be on top of the world right now! Oh, what I wouldn't give to be in your shoes right now! The minute my baby gets his PPR letter and then his visa I'm driving down to Ohio, shoving him into the car, and driving his butt back up here in record time! Congratulations girl -- and what a relief! I wish the Buffalo consulate was as helpful as NYC seems to be.
Thanks! I overnighted my passport earlier today. Now I just have to pack all of my things, quit my job, and all that "fun" stuff that you have to do when moving. Good luck to you and everyone else!
I have a question. Whats the "Initial Assessment"? I that another letter you get from Buffalo after the AOR? and before the PPR? Or is that the Sponsorship Evaluation thing.
I just got my AOR last week, and got updated on e-cas to "In Progress" as of July 14th. Theres no mention about my payment received nor my medical. I guess Im just waiting for the PPR? I dont know! Thanks. I sent my passport on July 7th, and now its July 29th and I still have not received it back. I love how the letter they give you says they'll return it within 15 days, and here it is now 21 days after they received it. I'm starting to worry because I just went up to Toronto for a job interview and signed a rental application with my husband. I'm gonna go ahead and send them an e-mail asking them where it is because this is just ridiculous.
seems like everything has come to a hault for summer, even Mississuga is slow
From a few other people who've sent theirs to NYC - seems like it takes about a month all told to get your passport back.
If I recall correctly, even dropping it off in person - you don't come back to get it until 2 weeks later. The good thing is - you made it, it's coming and I'm guessing soon :) Well, I hope that's right because that means I'll receive it this week. I'm just so frustrated and I absolutely hate not knowing what's going on. I sent them another e-mail last night, and received no response. So now they're just blantantly ignoring me. And next week is my birthday, I had hoped to be in Canada for it so I can spend it with my husband, but looks like that won't be happening. UGH! He says to e-mail them everyday until I get a response, but I'm afraid of pissing them off, lol.
OMG I am SO LIVID right now. They finally e-mailed me back and the claim that they only received my passport today. So, WHERE WAS IT FOR THE PAST MONTH??? I know, it was sitting on someone's desk, untouched. So, I pretty much wasted my money sending it overnight mail. I should've just gone into the city and done it in person. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks or so for them to send it back.
OMG Tibbychick!!!!
That's horrible - I think there's a big pile of BS there. sorry to hear they've been sitting on their A$$ES when you "know" it's been there. Did you email them back telling them they are full of crap? :) Initially I had wanted to, but in the email they said this: "Our resources are dedicated to process permanent residence visa. We will contact you if we required additional information. Please do not reply to this email." So, I don't want to rock the boat. I'm just hoping that they process it quickly now that they realize the mistake they've made.
Hi Tibbychick, it's really quite a relief to see your case processing so quickly. You're obviously from Buffalo and with someone from Toronto which is the exact situation that I am in. I'm wondering, how do they treat you at the border when you try to visit? What is it that you say you are doing and how long will you be there? I want to go up and visit but I don't want to ruin my chance of getting through by saying something stupid, i.e. saying I'm staying up longer than they allow. I just don't see them letting me in with an immigration case pending, but maybe I'm wrong.
Also, that is so lame about your passport just sitting there for a month. You said you should have just brought it there in person....If you had done that, do you think you would have gotten your visa that day? Hi schunnie, well I'm actually from Long Island, about 7 hours southeast of Buffalo, and 1 hour east of New York City. My file was transferred from Buffalo to NYC. Everything was moving along smoothly until I sent in my passport! If I had dropped it off in person, I wouldn't have gotten it back the same day. They say you have to come back after 1 week to get it. Which for me wouldn't have worked because they only issue them on Thursdays, and I work Thursdays. Plus for me to travel to the city is expensive too, about $30 roundtrip on the train. But really if I had know that this would happen, I probably would have done it in person after all.
As far as traveling, I've had no problems at the border. You can just simply say that you're going to visit your spouse, and give them a specific timeline. Last week I had an interview, so that's what I told them I was there for. The key is to just be honest but not give too much information. Just say you're visiting your spouse, and definetly bring whatever paperwork you have with you, anything that you've received back from the cosulate about your case. I'm pretty sure that if you have a case pending, that they can't refuse you entry. I've been up there several times since I applied back in March. Ok, this is complete shenanigans. Now they emailed me today and said my passport will be mailed out tomorrow in the express mail envelope I provided. So I guess they did realize that they messed up, and corrected it right away. I'm excited and relieved. Now I just have to figure out all the moving details!
CIC is a bunch of lying morons. Didn't get my passport today. Why the hell would they e-mail me telling me they were going to send it, and then not send it? I'm so incredibly angry right now, if it weren't so damn expensive/time consuming to get from here to NYC, I'd go down there and give them a piece of my mind. This is absolutely ridiculous.
ya real slow. i have not heard anything on my case in over two months.
I finally got in in the mail today. But that doesn't change the fact that they're LIARS! lol
Looks like I'll be moving up next weekend. Good luck to all those still waiting. Yay!!!
Congrats on finally getting your visa & good luck with the move! Thanks for the update :) Thanks! Here's hoping yours is approved soon too, I see its taking almost as long as mine.
