Hi Eddycool,
Are you using a Representative? Do you know anybody that filed any time after August 28th, 2007 till today, who is using a representative? Or can you refer me to somebody who is using a representative?

CamryMaxima,
I've submitted the application myself and do not know anyone who is using a representative.
Sorry :(

Hi eddycool,

How do you know that interview is cancelled? I also received medical forms and fees for PR, though the letter did not mention that the interview is not required. Just checking in this forum that did the consulate office send such kind of letter.

Your answer is appreciated.

Hi there!

The letter I received from the immigration office (after initial assessment) requesting medicals and proof of funds had a statement that my interview has been waived. I hope this answers your question.

Thanks.

Hi Eddycool,
Congratulations on getting the passport request!! I guess thats the last barrier :)

Had a question though, has your status changed on the e-Case website, or does it still show "In-Progress"?
 Posted by durgesh73 on 29 Jul 2008
Hi Eddycool,
Congrats for the PPR. Do you know when your medical papers were received by OTTAWA office ?
Posted by eddycool on 29 Jul 2008
Hi Neo and Durgesh,

My e-case application status still shows 'In Process'. I'm not sure when and how it changes as I stopped monitoring this status long time ago after my file was transfered from Buffalo to Los Angeles immigration office.

And my medicals reached Ottawa in May last week.

Thanks.

Hi Eddycool, I also just got PPR from LA. how long did it take you to send in the passport from when you received the request, and how long was the turn around on receiving the visa?

Hi Eddycool,

Congratulation on receipt of Canadian visa. When are you planing to land Canada?

Wishing you all the best.

I completed my landing in Canada on 16th October 2008 by driving through the Peace Bridge port of entry in Buffalo NY.
By the grace of God it was a smooth landing experience without any problem.
During my two days stay in Toronto I applied for the Social Insurance Card and opened a bank account.

I'm back in US now.

Take care all of you.

Hi Eddycool,

I also received PR visa , stamped in passport. How did you obtain the social insurance card? which address is required to give in social insurance card? Also when you come back in US, did you face visa officer questions?
Posted by eddycool on 20 Oct 2008
Once we enter Canada, we can go to the nearest Human Resources Center and apply for the Social Insurance Card.
The documents required are our passport and the COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) document (one that immigration officer stamps at the port of entry).
That's it. We get a SIN (social insurance number) on the spot as the officer at HR office gives us a printout of it. The card arrives in mail within 4 weeks.
We can give the same canadian address at all places (port of entry, SIN office, bank account etc). I gave my cousin's address.

While coming back, the officer at US port of entry asked only two questions :
Officer : Oh H1B..what do you do ?
I : I work for an IT consulting firm as a programmer analyst.

Officer : What are you bringing from Canada ?
I : Nothing Sir..I'm only returning with my luggage.

Officer : Have a good day
I : Thank you.

Note: I had a valid H1B visa stamped in my passport.

I hope I've answered all your questions.
Feel free to ask in case of any clarification.

All the best.
