What's CELPIP ?

Thx
Posted by MolecularMan on 06 Dec 2007
CELPIP = Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program

If you're in Canada you can take the CELPIP instead of IELTS...they're pretty much the same.

Hi MolecularMan,

Just a quick question what information is contained in the IA letter?
Posted by kknsk on 23 Mar 2008
Hi I recieved a letter from Buffalo office yesterday that my file was transfered to Detroit, should I wait for a letter from consulate for going to medicals ?? How does it work ?
Posted by MolecularMan on 23 Mar 2008
kknsk: For medicals, you will receive a document from them (it's a green form with your photo attached). You take this form to a DMP (designated medical practitioner) to undergo a medical checkup. Just sit tight and you will be receiving your medical request from them in a short time.
Posted by njvr on 24 Mar 2008
Are you working in Canada? Just curious..
Posted by kknsk on 24 Mar 2008
Thank you very much for your prompt response. I am trying to sit tight, but when I get home everyday and open my mailbox, I expect a letter from them. Any idea how long it may take to get the medical request, once the case is transfered to local office ?
Posted by MolecularMan on 25 Mar 2008
njvr: yep, I'm a grad student.
Posted by MolecularMan on 25 Mar 2008
kknsk: Usually, if your file is xfer'd to local (Detroit in your case), you can expect faster timelines than Buffalo on average. Typically, once transfered, IA follows within 1-2 months.
Posted by kknsk on 25 Mar 2008
Thanks much for the information. I will keep watching for a letter from consulate, take care
Posted by tinay on 25 Mar 2008
just wondering how long u have waited for the IA after the ielts sent.
Posted by MolecularMan on 25 Mar 2008
tinay: CELPIP reached Buffalo: 12-Jan 08, IA: 4-Mar 08. So I waited slightly under 2 months for IA from CELPIP.
Posted by kknsk on 31 Mar 2008
One more question, The letter from the consulate states that my file has been transfered to Detroit does it mean that IA has been completed ??? If not how do I know about my IA status ? Also I did not submit any CELPIP or IELTS during my filing, I just submitted my transcripts, letters from my company and from supervisor stating my English proficiency. Till now I have not asked to take any exam, is there a way to check whether they had ask me to take a test, will it be updated on the online status, if they have asked me to take the test ? I want to make sure that I have not missed a requested document from them :-(
Posted by MolecularMan on 31 Mar 2008
kknsk: In IA letter it says "We have completed the initial assessment of your application". Those are the exact words used in the letter from CIC.

Don't worry. If they wanted more English proficiency, they would've sent you a request to take IELTS or CELPIP along with AOR. What is your point breakdown? Are you depending on a full 16pts from English? In that case, it may be a bit risky to assume that CIC will allot you max in 'Language Proficiency'.

hi molecularman, quick question for u......have u tracked if ur medicals reached Ottawa ?
 Posted by ank88 on 10 Apr 2008
Congrats..
Can u please tell what were the documents requested
Posted by MolecularMan on 13 Apr 2008
manu416: Yep, Medicals reached Ottawa 1 day after my DMP mailed them (tracked via UPS)

ank88: Docs requested were pay stubs, updated bank statements for last 3 months and request to pay RPRF.
 Posted by ank88 on 23 May 2008
Hi Molecularman
did u send the RPRF. and also how long will it take to get the PPR.
Posted by MolecularMan on 26 May 2008
ank88:
Yep, RPRF sent. Now I'm just waiting for PPR. I'll take anywhere from 2-6 months, depending on your background checks. If you've lived in multiple countries since turning 18, then expect to wait longer.
Posted by Bozo on 07 Jun 2008
Hello,

Do you remember how long it took them to get the RPRF check cashed after they received it?

Regards,
Posted by MolecularMan on 08 Jun 2008
Hi Bozo: I sent a bank draft for RPRF, so I have no way of knowing when they "cashed it". I sent it along with all the other documents they requested.
(note: When you take a bank draft, the money is deducted immediately from your account, not when the recipient encashes it)
Posted by Bozo on 08 Jun 2008
MolecularMan,

Thanks for the quick response, yeah that's true they take the money right away but u still can track it through the customer service phone number but I don't know if you can do that with ur bank or not.

one more question in the doc check list I don't see anything says 3 months bank statement ... did they request that in the others section or where exactly?

Regards,
Bozo
Posted by MolecularMan on 08 Jun 2008
Hi Bozo: In my IA, there was a note at the bottom which stated:

"Please submit bank statements for the last ____ months".
In the blank was a handwritten number '3'.
Posted by Bozo on 08 Jun 2008
MolecularMan,

Thanks a lot for your response, Hopefully you will get your PPR soon.

Good luck
Posted by MolecularMan on 13 Jun 2008
Hi Bozo - Thanks for your suggestion for calling my bank - I did and found out that my RPRF was encashed. They will usually do that when PPR is the next step.

timeline:
-IA/medical/interview waiver: Mar 3rd 08
-Medicals sent to Ottawa: Apr 4th
-RPRF sent: May 9th
-RPRF encashed: May 20th 08

Hi MolecularMan,

Hey have you ecase chaned to "medical received"?
Posted by MolecularMan on 20 Jun 2008
not yet Bozo - I'll probably change in the next 2-3 months. I don't expect it to change anytime soon.
Posted by Bozo on 20 Jun 2008
I think you should get your PPR very soon, I have seen ppl got their medicals done in march and already got their visas.

keep me posted
Posted by MolecularMan on 07 Jul 2008
e-CAS changed to medicals received on Monday July 7th 2008. Awaiting PPR, fingers crossed.
Posted by Bozo on 07 Jul 2008
Congrats,

You should get the ppr soon.

Keep us posted.
Posted by MolecularMan on 09 Jul 2008
PPR - July 9th 08!!! The process is almost over...going in person for stamping in Buffalo.
Posted by Bozo on 09 Jul 2008
Congrats,

I have a quick Q for you, in your IA did it say you have (90 days for medicals and 120 for documents) or (60 for medicals and 90 for documents) ??
Posted by MolecularMan on 09 Jul 2008
Hi Bozo - in my IA it was 90 days for both I think. I'll check and edit this post when I'm sure.
Posted by Bozo on 09 Jul 2008
alright thx a lot.
Posted by MolecularMan on 10 Jul 2008
Yippee....Went in-person to Buffalo to get my passport stamped. Very easy process, went at 9am and got my passport back by 10.30am. The CIC staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
(I did not land on my way back though, will be landing next month)

Bozo: It was 60 days for medicals and 90 days for documents.
Posted by Bozo on 10 Jul 2008
Congarts man,

Wish you good luck in your landing process please keep us posted.

Congratulations!
Posted by Bozo on 11 Jul 2008
Hi MolecularMan,

Did you receive the PPR in mail first or ecase changed to medicals received first ?

Regards,
Posted by MolecularMan on 11 Jul 2008
Hi Bozo: e-CAS changed to medicals received first (July 7th). Received PPR 2 days later on July 9th. PPR was dated June 30th.

So they send PPR by mail, and at the same time, change ur e-CAS status. Mine was delayed a bit due to Canada day and July 4th holidays.

hi MolecularMan-

Couple of qs:
- Did the forms for the medical arrive at the same time as the Initial Assessment?
- Were any documents requested as part of the IA?
- What did the Initial Assessment letter look like?

I ask because I got a letter today that started with: "We have now completed an initial assessment of your application..." but went on to request letters of reference from my current employer. It also did not come with the forms for medical - which I had been expecting to come with the IA.

Appreciate your thoughts / comments.

crEm
Posted by MolecularMan on 31 Jul 2008
crEm:
1) Yes, medicals forms received in the IA letter.
2) updated employment letter, pay stubs, bank statements for last 3 months
3) Yes that's the IA letter!
Posted by crEm on 31 Jul 2008
MolecularMan-

Thanks for sharing the details. Got concerned coz we were expecting the medical forms to come with the IA (and was hoping for an interview waiver as well) but those did not come with that letter.

Congratulations on your speedy processing!

Best,
crEm
