AOR says to not expect to hear for 36 months
Posted by FinPro on 22 Oct 2006
Best of luck ... btw, wat are u doing during waiting period?

No choice but to wait. Have been to Canada just for a 2 week holiday this year. Saving up now so we can buy a property over there if/when they let us in.

Isn't it frustrating! We are a similar timescale to you, our AOR was November 25th 2005, telling us 36 months also.
We have a house over there (did it all the wrong way round, now it seems) and it's like being in limbo, waiting.
We were thinking about applying for a visa, or temporary residence. Someone even advised us to just go and let them process us whilest there, but I think that could be a bad move, especially if we are rejected.
Have you had any other thoughts about how to speed up your emigration?

Hi Kelly,
Just a short note to advise you that you can reside in Canada for 6 months as a visitor but you cannot work !
If you do work you will get thrown out by the immigration people. The best way of getting into Canada now is to locate an employer and work with them to get either a work permit or apply under the PNP programme. The only disadvantage of this route is it locks you to one employer, under the permanent residency route you can work for any employer. We have just received our permanent residency , our application took 29mths from start to finish so the timescales are going out.
Do your research on the area where you intend to land, locate some employers and go out and see them, Canadians like people who have this get up and go. I had 4 visits to Calgary to check out the area and locate suitable employers and areas which we would like to live.
It is frustrating I know but if you keep going its well worth the effort beleive me, good luck.

Hi Kelly

Congrats on getting your 90 day letter. Thanks for posting it on here, coz it just shows that CIC have woken up again from their sleep momentarily. We are Jan 06 AOR so shouldn't be too far behind you now. At least you know that things are starting to move for you now. Good luck with the rest of the process. Stef

Hey Kelly
Wow you are so close now!! Do they give you any idea as to how long they hold the passports for?
When do you plan to go?
How exciting!
All the best

Hi Amanda

I'm already in Canada on a work permit. Am expecting passports to be returned in about 3 weeks/1 month time. Not planning on going anywhere at the moment so I'm happy whenever they arrive.
