H-1B Tracker: Discuss Individual Case
Haven't received the receipt notice yet. The paper application was delivered to Vermont center on Nov 8. I am assuming that the receipt date would also be Nov. 8.
Received email on 11/14/2004, was orginally sent to VSC, interanally routed to California and email was generated by California service center.
I am not able to see the status online USCIS case search option, it is not able to find this receipt number. Also tried the PP status line but how do enter 0 as my receipt number starts with a zero. Every time I press zero, it goes to voice prompt..any ideas? Ok to answer some of my questions, to check the status over the phone, you have to enter the first three letters as well for example to enter WAC, press 922 ( look at the alphabets on the number keys and use accordingly). After you enter the case number, it will repeat it back to you. But it says they couldn't access the case information because of the problem with the system.
I am going to be on it's tail and let you guys know when the system can find my case again.. I wonder if this is the same system that is used by the USCIS website and because of the same problem the website is not able to locate the case based on receipt number... Hi harapata,
May I ask you why you applied for H-1B since your I-765 is already approved. As far as I know once you get your EAD approved, you don't need H1-B any more and I do understand that you filed your H1-B before your EAD got approved. I even heard (from 2 different attorneys) that as long as you get I-485 filing receipt, you don't need H1-B. Correct me if I am wrong. I am still trying to find memos that states the rule....Anyone knows about this?? I just concurrently filed my 140 with 485 and my h1-b is expired in Jan. I am debating if I should file another extension. Thanks a lot. Hi 1toomany,
It is advisable to maintain H1 status untill 485 gets approved. You cannot use EAD to switch employer before 180 days after I485 has been pending. Just applying for Advance Parole or EAD, getting approved and receiving the card doesn't mean anything untill you use them. After you use EAD to leave your sponsoring employer (after 180 days of pending 485), you are no longer in H1 status. It really depends on individual situation, I wanted to bring my spouse on H4 so I am maintaining H1. In short, I am not sure if one doesn't need to file for H1 if the 485 is pending. But I think it's not a bad idea to apply for H1 extension. Hi harapata,
Thanks for the advise. Yeah, I think it is better to have a clear status than get myself in a ambiguous situation. this case has been approved on December 5th
An RFE was generated after submitting through Premium processing. Was told by the employer, that it was something related to the company merger docs. After responding to the RFE, the 7th year extension was approved. Sorry about the late comments as I was out of country.
Please update your case to correctly show the approval date is in 2006 and NOT 2007. Thank you.
