Topic: Whats wrong with ATL PERM Center
Posted by new2perm (286) 01 Jun 2007
When people at Chicago center are getting approvals in 2 weeks or so, why is the ATL center treating us like this? Why can't they do something to start clearing all the backlogs that has been pending? Do they intend to conver this center into a Backlog Elimination Center like those that are in effect to clear the labors prior to PERM? Is there anything we could do to have them start processing our applications faster? Can all of us stuck in this center contact our congressmen and request them to do something about it? Just because this center needs to process H2 applications, they cannot make us go through this and ignore us at the expense of H2 applications? People, please come up with ways wherein we could do something about it.

I really don't know what to do. But we should all join and maybe send letters to the respective personal? If they have overwhelming request hopefully they'll start looking into it.

People, we need to get together and draft a letter and send it to the Atlanta PERM center head and request them to start processing our cases. Anyone interested to join and help me in drafting the letter? If we don't act now, no one is going to do it for us. If not we will be sitting and waiting for PERM for months together. Please let me know your thoughts in this regard.

Please advice

It looks like people have started getting approvals from Atlanta center these days. Hopefully they will continue with this trend and clear all the backlogs in the next couple of weeks. I would request everyone who gets their approval notice to please update their tracker as it will help other members to get an idea about the duration for approval.

What makes you thinking of that? It seems to me it takes 110-150 days to get a response from this center.

I spoke with Attorney Sheela Murthy's office and few other attornies and they informed me that they have been getting a bunch of approvals in the last few days. Hence my inference that they might have started processing our applications. Please let me know if you have any other information otherwise.

Too Sensitive,

I feel your pain... 7 months is a long time.. it has been 4.5 months and i even lost faith.... The whole thing is just getting completely ridiculous... Based on what i see lately, the approvals are completely random. Whether you just applied or applied months ago.. it doesn't matter !!! "sigh"

first you will hear welcome message and then 3 menu choices,
1,2, are about general questions, 3 - operator.
I chose 3 and it took me to operator. I said my perm has been pending over 7 months and want to know why.
the lady said she will direct me to the right place and then I was taken to answer machine.
It says they will response in 3 business days. I left a message and hang up

Let me know if you guys have good luck

I think we should all start calling and politely request them to expedite processing our applications. Once they start getting a lot of calls, they might starting acting on our cases. If anyone gets any approval after speaking or leaving a message, please post the same on this forum so that it can guide other people who are stuck like us. If we miss this opportunity to submit our 485's, we are in a soup. I think we should collectively start calling them and requesting them to please process our applications soon. Hopefully, it will work for us.

I think this is a good idea, atleast the best we can do for now. Mine has not been pending for 90 days yet. So I'll have to wait.
(reply) (report this)
Posted by OneGC07 (103) 14 Jun 2007
I just called them and left an anonymous message asking them to post thier reasons for being so slow compared to Chicago center. You do need to wait for the operator, just select option 4, which is what the operator will direct you to anyway. Good if could put a 100 message everyday. Please try to leave at least 1 anonymous message everyday. I hope that they will wake up, but I am afraid they will be busy listening to our messages which will delay the processing as a result. :)
(reply) (report this)
Posted by new2perm (286) 14 Jun 2007
You don't have to wait till its 90 days to call them. Just call them and leave a message or speak to someone and express our problems. The more people call, the more effect it will have. Also, you don't have to leave anonymous messages. Just identify yourself and politely request them to help us out. When Chicago Center is processing in about 2 weeks, I am sure Atlanta can do the same too if not better. We need to all pitch in and request them to assist us due to the situation we find ourselves in.

Guys, we need to represent ourselves and call them again. I have already called them couple of times. Unless we put some pressure on these people, they will not act. Also, I am planning to send a mail to the DOL Chief Elaine and see if she can help us. If we do not act now, we may miss the boat..as the priority dates are not going stay current for too long. People please start calling the DOL office at Atlanta and send mails to Elaine. This is our last opportunity to do something about this. There is no point wasting our time just watching the tracker as DOL personnel will take their sweet time to process the applications. They are supposed to process our applications within 90 days, but they are no where near that mark. They have an erratic manner of processing too. PEOPLE, PLEASE CALL DOL and request them to expedite the processing of our applications.

Unfortunately I could not locate any email ID. All I have is their physical address. Will print a letter and mail it by regular USPS. If anyone can find email address of DOL Chief Elaine or that of director at Atlanta DOL, please post it here

My labor receipt number starts with 'A' and I heard like there are some receipt numbers starting with 'T'. Does this have any significance.

I applied in Feb 2007 and I am looking for a possibility to check my status online as I am not sure if my employer informs me when this is approved.

I don't think you can check that by your self. Only attoneys or employers with an account in their system can check the status of PERM.

It seems like they've got tired of answering calls. They even disable all first 3 options, and directly redirect call to voice mailbox. I don't think it any bit helpful to leave VM. We got to figure out other effective ways to ping them.

See this transcript. I want to use it when I call dept. of Labor.

=====================
Dear Ms. Chao,
I'm calling to report PERM application issue in Atlanta center. While Chicago center can process a case in 2 weeks, Atlanta center could just keep a case 3 months or more without any progress. I think it's reasonable to ask what happened there?
PERM is intended to reduce labor certification times to under 60 days. Is there anything we can do to improve the performance in Atalanta? At least give people an answer, say, in 3 months.

Any idea, if the Atlanta staff has moved back towards labor approvals or are they still with H2Bs??

Can some one please let us know , whats the month that Atalanta processing center is currently processing.
Does any one has any news, if we miss the oppurtunity for July , do we have any chance after that??

I did not understand what it means by 'incomplete'. Can you please give more details.

Does 'A' means accepted or approved??

Thanks..

Yes. Let's do it now. I could not understand that so many people are so patient, although everyone knows it would be the best and only chance to submit 485 in the near future. miss it, who know how long we need to wait.

Yes, staff at Atlanta has started work on PERM cases, they're no longer with H2Bs. Update from immigration-law.com was posted in www.immigrationvoice.org that stated this. It also said from here on Atlanta will see positive changes in terms of processing times.

Hello People, I was able to find the email address of the DOL PERM Processing Center. Please send emails to this email ID requesting them to process our applications fast as the priority dates will not remain current for too long. The email ID is Perm.DFLC@dol.gov
Please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
