dsikka, lets not hv difference of opinion here...DHS and DOL do not work hand in hand...sending mails to DHS will offend as this issue is beyond their jurisdiction....Main thing here is, we cannot afford to offend them....we never know, we might hv to go back to DHS sometime...so lets not offend, and save it for future....
I'm not trying to get into a arguement...we need to stay united and win this......thanks

I think everyone is declaring our email as a SPAM
(reply) (report this)
Posted by dsik (247) 26 Jul 2007
cherry,

i absolutely agree with you on this. BUT, i just want us to be able to make as much NOISE as possible.

they will respond saying no jurisdiction BS, but let them.

i dont think there is any offense here.

but, again, what ever you feel is good. lets all of send to as many agencies (mentioned above) as we feel comfortable with and certainly not fight amongst ourselves.

someone said, no set blast time, just start blasting.

guys, whatever way just send emails.

Examples -
1. Injustice to Atlanata Perm applicants
2. Legal immigrants unfair treatment at Atlanta Perm processing
3. Unbelievable disparity between Atlanta and chicago Perm processing centres

It might seem unrelated to the efforts we all are up to.. but from the conversations I had it appears that folks who applied thru Chicago doesnt have a clue about the pains of ATL perm center. And surprisingly several of them are my frends, ex-colleagues. Also the online edition of indian news papers such as TOI, RDF who make a point to grab and post any encouraging/discouraging developments around GC process seems to have no idea of w.r.t ATL. Dont know if this is deliberate callousness or ignorance.

Not sure how much this will help the cause, but I feel that folks who are from chicago and are taking the advt. of Aug 17 filing should atleast have the sense of good state they are in and help us out in anyway for our cause. And IV a mature org. instead of cribbing about some ones derogatory post, it will be great that they understand the human psych. that would have caused he/she to vent the way they did and do not allow that to become a matter of ego to help out a group (ATL perm applicants) for a bigger cause.

I am not suggesting for a particular action but doing my part to make non-ATL, IV folks aware of the issue we are stuck in.

hi guys

I have not applied for PERM myself but I have been watching this thread for a while.. I feel for you guys... I compiled a slightly better email. I think you should use this one.. Most of the content is the same as the previous one, except that it's more polished (I hope so). I'll post this in a new thread as well.. might get lost in this huge thread.

================================================================================

Dear Sir or Ma'am,

This is regarding the labor certification process at the Atlanta PERM Processing Center. PERM is supposed to be a fast-track labor certification process, but most applications older than 90 days and are still pending without being processed.

The Department of Labor (DOL) handles PERM applications, and it's clear that they are not processing applications in a timely manner.

Atlanta applicants are currently tracking their cases on a forum and they have found huge discrepancies in the processing times for Chicago and Atlanta processing centers. Below are the average processing times for the two processing centers:

Chicago vs. Atlanta
----------------------------
Chicago: Average 12.7 days for 111 cases since March 2007
Atlanta: Average 103.2 days for 66 cases since March 2007
Tracking forum for Atlanta PERM tracker: http://www.trackitt.com/usa-immigration-trackers/atlanta-perm-tracker/
Tracking forum for Chicago PERM Tracker: http://www.trackitt.com/usa-immigration-trackers/chicago-perm-tracker/

Above analysis based on a sample of cases filed at the Chicago and Atlanta centers, obtained from a forum called trackitt.com (http://www.trackitt.com).

The difference in processing times for Chicago and Atlanta processing centers is unfair, and it goes against the very fabric of American values. In America, we believe in fair and equal opportunities to all individuals. Then why are these delays not being addressed? This delay in processing at the Atlanta center is affecting the lives of thousands of legal, tax-paying, productive members of the society because their careers are stalled as they wait for their labor approvals.

There is a great window of opportunity available for all of us to file for our green cards (I-140 and I-485 applications) until 17 August 2007, but we are unable to do so because we need our PERM applications to be approved before we can file I-140 and I-485.

We request you to resolve this delay with Atlanta PERM processing center ASAP.

Best Regards and thanks for reading,
From all of us Atlanta PERM applicants

I too have sent the emails - a slightly modified version of the original posted in this thread. Some bounced but >90% were sent.

Shall re-send again tomorrow . . . .

If I were Dr. Carlson, I would go to Atlanta (would have gone on June 14/07 itself!) have 'rolled up my sleeves" as the they say in the US and started processing the pending cases myself. Would have made the other officials in OFLC who are just sitting pretty in Washington DC do the same

fyi......got this reply. .....

Thank you for contacting the office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CISOMB).

CISOMB is charged with assisting individuals who experience specific problems during the immigration benefits seeking process with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Additionally, the Ombudsman identifies systemic problems in the immigration benefits process and recommends solutions to USCIS.

As the Atlanta and Chicago PERM centers are U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) facilities that process labor certifications, they are not within USCIS jurisdiction and, therefore, fall beyond the purview of this office. We note from your email that you are already in contact with DOL, the entity able to address your concerns most directly.

In future, please refer relevant inquiries not to this email, which is established to handle specific case problem matters, but rather to cisombudsman.trends@dhs.gov, which is set up to address such systemic issues.

We hope this information helps you determine how to proceed.

Sincerely,
