Topic: Whats wrong with ATL PERM Center
Thats good, lets continue to keep calling and if we cannot reach her, atleast ask to be transfered to her voicemail. Leave a detailed message with your phonenumber and request her to call you back. Also, ask for Ms. Anderson's direct phone number or email address or fax number and then we can send a detailed email or fax seeking her help. So, if she is in a meeting atleast leave a voice message for her.

Urgent - Calling Atlanta center
I called up Atlanta center and left a vm message. After that I called my attorney to inform him about it and he said, being a beneficiary I was not supposed to do that and my application can be cancelled. Any comments?

I also had a call with Atlanta PERM center and they called me back. I briefed the same to my paralegal & attorney. My paralegal told me that it is not my business to follow-up directly with Atlanta center. I am just a beneficiary and if I have any questions, I should raise the same thru my manager to him or legal/ immigration department.
I understood that it is possible for the PERM officer/ analyst to make the application as AUDIT and it is not adviseable to approach

Any thoughts? since I had called Atlanta Center and I got a call back as well ( see my earlier post). I am little scared now..
Come on. Did you break the law or violate any DOL regulation? Absolutely you didn't. You just sent out a fax or made a phone call. Of course, you cannot misrepresent yourself as your lawyer or your boss but I don't think the law forbids you from making phone calls or sending out faxes on your own behalf (of course, as long as you did that based on good faith). If they cannot discuss the case with you, then that's fine. I don't think they have the right to cancel your PERM application simply because you made the phone call.

I found this on Murthy as well.. Some hopes

Me neither. Calling and inquirying are not crimes. It is so normal. Don't be afraid for the right thing.
There is nothing worrry about my friend. These idiot attorney's want to make sure, they are involved in every step of the process and keep getting their money from you. If they really care about us and they would have pursued our cases with the Atlanta PERM center and gotten some responses. They don't care a damn about you. All they want is delay in processing so that you can shelve out more money on renewals of your H1b visa. Its in your interest that you keep pushing them to check on the status of the case and have them working on the fixing this problem.
Moreover, we are calling Washington DC office to request them process our cases faster. We are not commiting any crime by doing so. So stop worrying and keep calling/emailing/faxing the director at Atlanta PERM center & the DOL DC office.
Was anyone able to reach Ms Anderson and speak to her. I have left a voice message for her. But no response yet.
I tried at 12 pm. one lady picked up the phone and transfered to Ms.Anderson's desk. I couldn't leave a msg since her inbox was full. I'll try again little latter.
Basically, so far NOBODY made a SUCCESSFUL call.
i was able to talk to her, she said that she knows the issue and every case has to take it is attention and processing time then excuse me as i have another call .....
I called and spoke with Kelley. She transfered the call to Ms.Anderson. As usual the voicemail was full and could not leave any message. However I called back again to speak with Kelley. I asked her about the Atlanta PERM center delays. She transfered the call to Ben Arona (I am not sure about his last name) since he is the right person to answer my questions. I thought I could speak to someone but it went to his voicemail. Luckily it wasnt full, I left him a voicemail. Lets see
Thanks mate for the info. What nonsense is she talking about. There are cases pending for over 6 months and that was not sufficient time for their attention? Was it not sufficient time for processing? Typical federal employee response. What the hell are the Chicago Center staff doing? Approving without paying attention in less than 2 weeks? She must have been out of her mind. What the heck, it never hurts to keep calling and speaking to her explaining the situation and requesting her to press the Atlanta Center to process our applications. Never give up. Keep calling guys. I am going to try my luck again to reach her.
Just called 202-693-3010 and went onto vm for Anderson...could not left message as the box is full.
Some hopes.. Seen an approval from Atlanta today, which is applied on Feb 23,07.
That is their regular pace. I did not see any improvement at all. Now those folks who filed in Chicago do not even bother to register here as their cases got approved so fast.
her message box was full...
I am losing my confidence. could not see any big change in the near future.
I think what we are angry about is that there is a huge discrepancy between the processing speeds of Chicago and Atlanta centers. If the Chicago guys can hand out decisions within a few weeks, there is no reason for the Atlanta guys to lag behind and create so much sufferings. We are paying the same kind of tax dollars but we are not getting the same kind of public service. Our employers are not getting the same kind of service from them.
I just called 202-693-3010 and a lady picked up. I asked for Ms. Anderson but she wouldn't transfer to her. Then she asked me if she could take a message. I said i wanted to raise conserns over the delay in processing PERM applications in Atlanta center. Then she said she will transfer over to an other person.
I aket that other guy if he has any information around the delay in Atlanta. I got the same answer.. We are aware of the issue and we are working on it. You should see some progress soon. No ETA on any case and HOPEFULLY things should return to normal.
I don't know what they mean by 'normal'.
Anyways, i guess we just have to stay put and wait till we get our approvals. Thats pretty much what they mean also!
What's the meaning of "No ETA on any case"?
What's the meaning of "No ETA on any case"? Same question???
Estimated Time for Approval (ETA)
Thanks new2perm. I also let my employer to send an email to Atlanta. No reply right now... Hope our cases will be approval soon....
People please understand very clearly. Just sitting and waiting and HOPING that our cases will get approved soon is not going to serve any purpose. We have waited and HOPED enough. We need to act now. We need to call our attorney's and bug them to contact Atlanta PERM center, need to contact DOL office in Atlanta & Washington DC, need to contact AILA and seek their help and we need to persistently keep calling, emailing and faxing these concerned personnel. So stop hoping and waiting for now. Its time we do something worthwhile for ourselves. Just get that in your minds and don't expect someone else will do that hard work for you to sit and wait/hope.
I just called 202 and 404 telephone number, The lady are saying they don't have any information on PERM process and they are not ready to talk on that.
I guess we really made a lot of calls tp piss them off!!
Any success of getting hold of Ms Anderson at Washington DC?
I recieved a response for my email which I had submitted last week:

Thank you for your e-mail to the Atlanta National Processing Center concerning your case filed under the PERM program.
Our office can only respond to inquiries from the employer's contact person or attorney/agent listed on the submitted 9089 form.

Dear Friends,
Any more ideas apart from calling them? Will contacting any media (newspapers, TV, etc) help? Or can we get the support of AILA in this matter?
If you have any other thoughts, please share it here
We are not calling to ask them to do anything wrong. All we are asking is, please help us get out of this mess at atlanta center. We want them to be fair to us and not penalize us just because we happen to work in the east coast. People from the mid-west and west coast are happily getting quick approvals while those from Atlanta center are being penalized because we happened to live and work in this part of the country. How right is that on their part? We have waited our time and we need fairness while processing our applications. There is nothing for them to get pissed off.. They just to be made to understand our current situation in a very diplomatic & professional manner. We are not arguing with them. We are just pleading our case and explaining our situation in a very polite manner. Is it wrong to do this?
Need to have your attorney contact AILA to have them take up our cases with Atlanta PERM center. They can definitely help, if we can persuade them to do that. But bloody attorney's don't care a damn for us as they are busy making all the money they can filing I-485's for the rest of their clients...They say, make hay while sun shines....
Has anybody got any success in contacting senators?
Called 202 number, and was answered by an assistant. Ms. Anderson is not available. I asked the assistant what happened in Atlanta. She just asked me to check with Atlanta myself, promised that Atlanta should give me a call back ASAP though I claimed that they did not...
Can we contact some news papers like Washington post (letters to the editor) ? The sample letter drafted by new2perm in this thread would do I guess .
Here is the contact info
letters@washpost.com
202.334.6000
800.627.1150
May be we can collect electronic signatures and then forward to them...
it does not hurt to send it my friend. But please polish it, and add a human face to that letter and email it to the editor. You never know, they may publish it, if it is compelling enough. Give it a shot.
Hi new2perm,
Would you please post the draft again? We can send to letters@washpost.com .
Thanks.
I called up the 202 number and spoke to Ms Anderson. She was kind enough to speak to me. I explained my situation. She agreed to contact the Atlanta PERM center and have someone get in touch with me. Though she mentioned the same crap about individual attention to each application etc. I told her that, if she can help us out, it would really save us a lot of grief. Lets see who contacts me now from the Atlanta PERM center.
seems like at this rate 130 - 140 days average procesing times, the newer applicants won't be able to file I-485 by September end....while the lucky west coast/mid-west applicants would be able to do so.Guys I think calling/ emailing won't improve this...They will keep using their standard replies..We have to use media some how or if people agree, stand outside the office...But this is just me..I hope the situation improves in the coming days.

Here is that sample:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I want to bring to attention one issue that has never been looked into or addressed. This is related to labor certification process at the Atlanta PERM Processing Center. While lot of attention has been paid towards illegal immigration, no news channel or program has investigated the pains and frustration people have to go through while trying for employment based immigration. Currently there are 1000's of PERM applications pending at Atlanta PERM Processing Center, some dating as far as early part of 2006. There are people waiting for their labor applications (First stage towards attaining permanent residence) to be approved for more than a year.
Department of Labor (DOL) established PERM National Processing Centers for faster approval of labor applications last year but that seems to make the matters worse. While the Chicago Processing center seems to be processing applications in a timebound manner, the Atlanta center has followed its predecessor BEC's in processing applications. PERM Centers were established to process applications in 90 days, but there are 1000's of cases that have been pending for more than 6 months now. There is no visibility into the process, it is slow and makes life tough people who are here on an H1 or other work visas.
As a legal, tax-paying and productive members of society, many careers are stalled by this seemingly never ending unfair wait in the American legal immigration system and is very discouraging and possibly detrimental to the interest of the American global economy in the 21st century.
The DOS having released their monthly visa bulletin recently with all dates being current. It would make it absolutely necessary for us to be able to use this one time opportunity to submit the next stages of our immigration process. DOS has very clearly stated that they will retrogress the dates in the forthcoming visa bulletins. In this situation, it makes it even more necessary for us to be able to submit our applications. But we are all stuck in this black hole called the Atlanta PERM Processing Center.
I this regard, I would be very grateful if this issue can be addressed quickly. I would appreciate if you can request the Atlanta PERM processing center to start processing our labor applications in a timebound manner and also dedicate additional personnel to clear the backlogs. This would be of immense help to legal, tax-paying and law abiding members like us. Atleast then we will not be caught in a never ending cycle of waiting and uncertainty for us & our family members. Your prompt action would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

you are making an assumption that dates will be current till then!!
Please personalize this and add a human face to it. Make it more appealing for publication.
yes..hopefully the dates would remain current till the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2007)..But again they might release a new visa bulletin before that..Its just everybodies guess. Assuming this best case scenario, we should redouble our efforts to let ATL know about our plight. We might still have a chance

I sent an email to letters@washpost.com . Please Everyone send the email to letters@washpost.com .....

Thank you for your great job.
How did you get Ms. Anderson to talk with you. Personally, I really wanted to speak with her too.
Guys! Let's also contact AJC (biggest newspaper in Atlanta) and WSBTV (biggest TV station). They are the same compnay, so I already contacted WSBTV via newstip@wsbtv.com and send our message. I need your support. If you can, please send email to newstip@wsbtv.com so they can make a report about Atlanta PERM processing. Once again, it is newstip@wsbtv.com.
