Can anyone tell me with aproximation about the CP timeline and steps from the moment of getting the visa number? After I got the visa number and paid the visa fee I'm waiting for NVC to require my DS-230 forms. I do not know what is coming next. Actually my attorney is a jerk and he does not want to give me an idea as he is interested in H1B extension no matter. My H1B expires on Sep 30 2008 and I do not know if it is worth to spend extra money for the extension as it is possible to get my greencard till then. For H1B I cannot wait till last minute as I won't be able to travel so I have to fill for the extension in advance to get the aproval before the expiration date. Anyone knows as long takes the H1B extension?
Also anyone knows how much costs the premium processing and how long takes?
Thanks in advance.

H1-B $1500.00 plus $1000.00 for PP. Can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months on regular, but PP is usually no more than 10 days.
CP:
If you have paid your fee bills then usually within 1 month you get your consular processing package come through. In fact many right now are coming within a couple of weeks of paying fee bills so I am told. Once the package arrives then you gather your info, make sure you are above the poverty guidelines, or else you get a co sponsor. Fill out DS230 part 1 & 2 the I-864 and cosponsor stuff if needed then send the application into NVC. They check all required documents are there and forms are correct, if not then you get an RFE and send off what was missing. After that the application is sent to your consulate and you wait for an appointment letter which will arrive in an A4 envelope from NVC. Call your lawyer up and ask if you qualify for a 601 waiver or not. Then you go to interview at consulate, wait the medical is usually 2 days prior after you make the appointment as shown on appointment letter. You make waiver appointment as well if you qualify. The n when you are at medical they will tell you to go for a document check at consulate the day before your interview. You do that and then go for interview. They will ask you questions relating to your application. Usually about your family and where you live and what you want to do once you get your visa. Then you leave and they will contact you when you can come and pick up passport and visa.
That is what has happened to folks we know.
Good luck & Cheers,

hi LRIndy!
thanks for the info.? Have you done this to all of your family member? How many days it took before the process was approved? With the way you describe it, it seems like for a short time.Anyway i'll be doing the CP ( God's willing...) in the near future but here in the Philippines. I hope the process is much the same here. thanks and god bless!!!!

Hi, could you update where you are now? How long did it take until you get DS 230 forms? I want to send the forms back as soon as I can so I can get the interview date asap but I'm afraid if my police certificate will not be ready yet for the interview.

Apply for your police cert now and I am sure it will be ready for your interview. You should get the DS-230 etc ready now and back to NVC. It will take some time for NVC to go through everything before they send it to the Consulate out there. Police reports from Phills take about 6 weeks to get and if you are there then you can do a walk in with ID.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
LRIndy.
