Can anyone tell me what the medical basically involve?
Is it anything special or just routine tests.
Is it specified on the advice and how much will it cost approximately ($$)?

Medical tests includes full examination, AIDS test, Syrvellis test (pardon if spelling incorrect) and chest X-ray. You can get information about this on consulate site - http://cic.gc.ca.
Regarding cost, for sure these are not covered by Insurance and different Medical Practitioners have different rates. I will say range is roughly 300 $ - 500$

Do all family members have to do medical? And the cost will multiply accordingly...right?

no that is not correct .... yes the whole family needs a medical but i believe kid's medical cost less ..... you can contact the list of medical practitioners and compare the costs ... generally kids -180-200$$
and adults 350 $ average

If you're in Toronto, complete adult medical test costs around $200.

All members of immediate family has to go throu' medicals. By immediate I mean - spouse and dependent children. It doesnt matter whether they will accompany you or not to Canada :)
