Topic: Application returned with non clear comment. Help needed to understand the meaning of comment.
Posted by Ashi (13) 15 May 2008
Hi..I sent my permanent residence application to Buffalo consulate on March 25 thru DHL. My Application was delivered on March 31. Today exactly after one and half month they returned my application with comment at top rt hand corner of main application as "No REP R10 & R11 Ok" I am not able understand the meaning of this comment. Does this mean I must have to use a representative for my immigration.... Guys please help me to understand on this.. what I am supposed to do now??

Hi Ashi
did you receive any letter in printed form from CIC?
(reply) (report this)
Posted by Canada4life (16) 16 May 2008
My application was returned with the same words at the top of the front page. However my returned application was accompanied by a letter which explained the reasons why my application was returned. I resolved the issue and re-sent back my application, it was received and an AOR was sent back to me after 2 months and half. My advise is please find out why your application was returned and sort out the reason then re-send it back. Several people on this forum have gone through this process. Keep heart and dont loose sleep over it.

Hope I have helped.

Cheers!

My application was returned with some other words like process fees OK some thing like that but not like R10 or R11 words. My Application was returned due to not filled "Not Applicable" columns. I resent the application and received AOR.

Hi Canada4Life....

Unfortunately they didn't send me any such letter which can explain me on this...Can you please share what was the problem with your documents? As you mentioned that you also had same comment text as mine. It migh be because of same issue.

Thanks in advance for your help...

My reason had to do with application fees. In my application I had indicated that I'm in a common-law relationship with my fiance, however as part of the application I mentioned that she (my fiance) applied separately on her own so her supporitng documents were not part of my application since she had already applied separately. The CIC guys didn't read my additional information so they just returned back my application saying I need to pay more money (CDN 1,100 instead of CND 550) to include my fiance much as I already explained that she filed separately.

All i did is adjust my application to remove my fiance and sent it back.

Thanks Canada4life for your prompt response. I don't think I have same issue as yours. I applied for me as Principal Applicant and my spouse( with different last name though) as co-applicant. I attached all mine as well as my spouse documents. I attached BOA cashier check of 1100 USD for 2 applicants also. I wish consulate has provided me proper explaination in separate document as they provided for you.

One more thing I need to check with you. Currently I score 72 points on assessment test considering that my English proficiency is high for Reading/Writing/Listening. I didn't attach IELTS score but provided lot of documentation to support that. I know ususally they ask for IELTS score which I was planning to provide if they demand. DO you think that can be the possible reason for my rejection? Does 72 score is not having much buffer for Language proof with documentation instead of IELTS? Does "No REP" mean "No Required Eligible Points"? Whats your thought on this?

Thanks

hello Ashi..........You mentioned of Payment 1100 USD but i think it should have been CAD (Candian Dollar) Can you pls check, if Buffalo office accept USD payment as well.

Thanks

HCPC...

I checked on Buffalo Consulate website's fee section. It clearly say that I can submit my fee either in CAD or USD. Please refer the link below:

http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/main/visas/fee_schedule_us_dollars-en.asp

I just deposited application fee as 550*2=1100 USD. I didn't submit Right of Permanent Residence fee ( 490*2=980 USD) along with application fee. I don't think this can be the problem as Right of Permanent Residence fee can be deposited later also. Let me know if you too agree with me on this.

Ashi,

I dont think you not providing IELTS score can be a reason enough for them to return back you application (please note that your application has not been rejected but returned due to some incomplete information). There are several cases mentioned here where people are requested for IELTS after they receive AOR. My advise though would be for you to sit for the IELTS it is a very straight forward test and I believe you will be able to score 7 points that will enable you to obtain the full 16 points required for language proficiency.

"NO REP" means no representative, my guess is that you filed independently without any help from Immigration consultants.

Out of interest did you complete all the necessary forms including those that are not applicable by indicating clearly that they are "not applicable"? in the past omitting such details has been a reason for returning applications.

In my opinion I would advise you to seek advise from an immigration lawyer and from there after use that immigration lawyer as a reprensantive to file your application again.

Hi Ashi,
Check your application IMM008 Schedule 1, section 12,13 and 14. Dont leave these fileds empty. If these sections are not applicable to you then fill N/A or Not Applicable on those columns. I observed most of the applications are returned due to these sections are empty.

Thanks Canada4Life once again for your detailed response and trying your level best to help me. I agree with you that returning my application shouldn't have anything to do with IELTS but I guess I am trying to explore for all possible reasons. I have sent an email to Buffalo Consulate and hoping they will respond me in a day or 2. Once I get response I will decide if I really need to consult any Immigration lawyer. By any chance do you know any good/reasonable Canadian Immigration lawyer in San Francisco area or anywhere else?

Ashi,

I don't know any Canadian Immigration lawyer in the San Francisco area, however a lawyer called David Cohen of www.canadavisa.com is a very helpful guy, you could get in touch with him.

Are you a non-resident alien of US? The reason I am asking is if you applied from India, you cannot file at Buffalo and reading through your post of sending the packet through DHL and time it took to reach the consulate, it feels like you sent your application from India.

Thanks njvr I got a reply today late noon from Buffalo Consulate. Seems like they want me to resend my application to them.
Refer their response below:

"If there was no cover page explaining why the application was returned, please send the application back to our office with the attention to: registry supervisor. Sorry for any inconvenience.

canadian immigration is a bit lame too ( better than USCIS for sure ) . My application is returned as well in 2007 asking me to add an " OK " in one of the column in some form(dont remember which one).

They attached a green sticky to my application ( no cover letter )explaining this. It pissed me off , but i added that OK and resent the application back. Got the PR 3 months back

Hi

Did you find out the reason why you your application was returned?

Thanks,
(reply) (report this)
Posted by Brickwall (72) 16 Jul 2008
Yes, because I did not put N/A in sections which were not applicable in schedule 1 form (section 13,14). They asked me to CORRECT and re-submit it. It is frustrating to wait for 2 months before you know your application will be returned due to missed n/A

This is an email I sent to the embassy at buffalo after returning my application. Please read it and let me know what do you think, any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Dear Sir, Ma'am

I submitted my application for the skilled worker immigration category on September 11th, 2008; and I received my application yesterday saying that I have some missing documents in my application.

You mentioned in the documents that were returned along with my application, that I need to provide Test results from an approved language-testing organization, and my understanding is that the approved organization in my case would the IELTS. Unfortuantely, I looked up online and there are no places in the state of Nebraska (where I am located) that administer this exam. I did provide an old TOEFL score result and a letter from my undergraduate university in Jordan, that states that all the courses were taught in English, and I thought that this would be enough, considering the fact that I have a master's degree from the USA. Now, if I decide to go with the other option (the substitution of the exam results) which are:

1-Your written submission detailing your training in, and use of, English and/or French;

2-Official documentation of education in English or French;

3-Official documentation of work experience in English or French.

4-Other applicable documentation

my question here, do you want me to ask my supervisors to write me an employement verification letter stating that the language used while working was English? Is that it, or is there anything else?

Please let me know."

Its so frustrating because they should know that duringmy experience in the US I only spoke english!! Also there is something that I didnt mentionin the email "they told me I have to prove that i have been in the US for more than a year, What kind of documents proves this, coz I already showed them my Visa, and my I-94. I am on F-1 Visa by the way.

Please let me know what you guys think

Firstly, I think the inquiry letter you wrote is bit length, you might get 2 lines response saying, please provide requested documents to avoid delay in processing or something.

TOEFL doesn't work, nor does US Masters degree or being resident for several years count, as long as you are an immigrant they strongly suggest you provide ielts exam.

Trust me the exam is real simple, not even close to TOEFL. You should visit nearby state and take up the exam rather than taking a chance if you are serious.

Give them the copy of enrollment record from your school showing the credits you are currently enrolled for and prior semester's gpa record. I think you should get that from the registrar (Official / Unofficial transcripts - which would be incomplete if you are still graduating). - I think this should prove you have been in US for more than a yr. If possible, get a letter from your professor saying you'd been studying in X univ. from past y years (as an additional proof)

Hi there,

Where I should send my application (Buffallo or LA) ? I prefer LA, cause I live in SF. In case, I have to have an interview. BTW, anyone of you got interview ?

Brickwall: I do not think you need to send them that letter. Send them a letter stating "according to the options provided, I am sending an alternative proof of english language proficiency (you can state exactly as they worded it online)." Then include letter from any boss or professor on your excellent proficiency in english. If you have been a ta, that might help too. You can just add a letter from someone of authority in your school stating that you taught e.g. 200 level students in english and that you have excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, and writing in the english language. My friend did this and had absolutely no problem. I have done the same (and the issue was never raised again, I have done my medicals since the); especially since I do not really need the points to qualify and I teach at the college/graduate level in the U.S. Hope this helps.

You have to apply in Buffallo. They may transfer your file to LA, but you have to apply in Buffallo.

Not Replying e mails - I did my medicals in the month of Julyof 2008 and I have not heard anything back. I also sent in my Right of Landing fees and I confirmed that it was delievered. But I have e mailed them a couple of times asking what the status of my application and the DETROIT office has not repsonded. Should i be worried?

And why are you posting the same message multiple times here? You think you will get an answer quicker? Maybe if you are emailing Detroit everyday, perhaps they are irritated with you as well. Please only post a message once.

Yes, sure did. Oh wait, you are still waiting for CIC to reply. Actually no it didnt work. What you really want is CIC to reply back to you, not the forum.

But I guess tell you a bit of posting manners is a waste of time.

They are asking me to provide a proof that i have been lawfully admitted and stayed in the US for more than 1 year. I just got done with my master's degree and I have been in the US for more than 2 years. What kind of proof do you think that would be? I would appreciate any help.
