Topic: Sample Job Offer Letter
Posted by nindi (140) 25 May 2008
Dear all,

I am trying to apply to Canada from USA. I also have an arranged job offer from Canada. Can someone tell me what kind of letter do they really need? Also, employer would like to know what kind of documents he needs to provide to Canadian immigration? Please help.

Thanks in advance

Nindi

Dude,

It should be something indicating your job position, details about the company, salary information and when you are expected to join etc. If needed consulate can connect with company and verify.

PS: This is just my understanding. I would like someone with AE to provide more details in this regard.

Initially I gave the letter from HR indicating the position & salary along with the work permit copy [this had company name too]. A role description on the letter head also would be beneficial as they normally asks for that later.

Hello Nindi,

I'm in the process of processing a foreign worker to come with with our company and have done some research into this.

Here are the details that you will need to know: (this is a foreign worker coming to Canada to work...)

1) you need a job offer
2) The employer needs to see if they need to complete a LMO (Labour Market Opinion)
3) When filling out the LMO, if it's negative...you can not come to work here - the decision can be appealed.
4) If the LMO is positive, then you can come work here.
5) The LMO must be sent to you, and you will need to submit the LMO and your application to the Canadian embassy where you live. They will review it and if approval is given, they will issue authorization for a work permit
6) You must present the LMO, the job offer, the authorization for work permit to the officers at the point of entry into Canada. they will issue the work permit.

Note: The job offer must be a temporary job, but extensions can be given. the employer can indicate that permanent employment status in the future is possible, but the foreign work must apply for permanent status.

The employer must prove that you have the skills that can not be obtained by the normal labour force in the area and must indicate what efforts were taken to hire Canadian labour.
