Topic: Can the IA be delayed if the applicant is a member of a professional organization.
Posted by smr123 (20) 28 May 2008
I submitted my application for PR in Oct 2005, My AOR is Nov. 11, 2005. I am an Indian national working in Kuwait, so CIC - London office is dealing with this process. I received a 3 months processing notice dated Jan. 21, 2008 to update my documents and I sent all updated documents on April 15, 2008 including IELTS results.

One of my friend has similar dates, but he had not submitted IELTS results along with the updated documents. He received an IA letter dated April 29, 2008, asking him to provide IELTS results. Whereas I, having sent all the documents in place did not receive anything yet.

I reviewed a copy of my application and found that the only difference between me and my friend could be that I mentioned in Section 12 of Schedule 1 (Background declaration) that I am member of 3 professional organizations. Project Management Institute (PMI), American Society of Quality (ASQ) and ISACA.

I could easily avoid mentioning these, but I did. Does any body know, this could be the reason for delay in IA.

If you specify then those will be verified by consulate. I would also say that it was a good decision that you updated in advance. Consulate anyhow do a background check and finding anything which you didnt mention will not in favour!!!

Thanks for your reply, but these are professioanl organizations. Unfortunately in the form, for professional and political organizations, same section is given. For political organizations, yes there should be a background check, but for professional organizations which are concerened with advancement of technical knowledge and best practices of the profession, background checks are not required. Hence I think, it was not a good idea to mention these organizations in my form. Now they may follow the same procedure as for political organizations. Anyway, I hope that does not happen to me and I only pray it to come fast. Thanks. Any more suggestions, comments are highly appreciated.

I dont think you are being delayed for that. Check the tracker....there are lots of other people waiting and waiting......90% of this business is about waiting. I dont know whether some of us need to include our grandchild at some stage because of this waiting.
