Topic: AOR for those after February 27th
Posted by Quarte (8) 04 Jun 2008
Did anyone with arranged employment receive the AOR already or not?

All application filed after Feb. 26th are now awaiting the outcome of a new legislation. If you filed after that date, you will NOT receive AOR before the new legislation becomes effective. Canada will become more selective with immigrant applicants. Lists of preferred professions will be made. Those favored on such lists will be given expedited processing. Those least favored will have their applications returned to them. Buffalo has simply been waiting for instructions on "what applications to return". A Canadian immigration attorney told me today that it may take as long as till this fall for the new procedures to be in place and for the immigration machine to be up and running again. So a few more months of waiting ahead.

if you have Arranged Employment or PNP certificate, your application will be processed with high priority, so this is not the scenario you listed above.
AE or PNP = no changes with immigration rules....

Do you mean PNP or PMP? Where did you get this information?

I am 100% sure IT background will be one their criteria - irrespictive of sub skills you have in IT

If the new bill is passed, minister has discretion whether s/he will process an individual case or not. I've heard that citizens of some countries which have already sent "too many" immigrants (e.g. India, China, possibly Korea and Japan) may be biased against even if s/he is employed (AE) /educated in Canada... If the bill is not passed (i.e. rejected at the Parliament), the current process (first come first serve, every case above 67 points will be processed system) will continue to be effective. In a nutshell, I really want the proposed bill to be rejected. This is the line of reasoning many neutral immigrant groups, including immigrantcanada.ca, take.

You must have taken up this from unreliable soruces. Bill do not contain any such terms, on flat they only look for immigrants with certain skills. So far many people are applying to canada with useless qualifications/experiences. They want to filter candidate's background to be more valued than like useless. Infact now CIC office in India/China can easily process applications within a year or two where now every case is taking 6yrs or more to take up.

I want to think like you, but many prestigious immigrant groups opposed the bill as you might know because of the reasoning I wrote. Immigrantcanada.ca is one of the most respected groups supporting immigrants in Canada. They clearly said that nationality would be one of the most important criterion in judging an individual case...

Do you know if they look at only the principle applicants occupation or do they also take into account the spouses occupation?
