I have another question about PCC. I guess it is good to contact the local embassy over here to get it done. But since they are asking for original passport how long does it take to get my passport back from the embassy.
If there is any other option I am open to that too.

It is pretty fast and efficient, I got it through SFO and they returned it within 1 week. Just make sure you either sent MO for return envelop or return envelop itself as requesteed..

I didnt send my original passport with my PCC application to NYC Indian Consulate, only photocopy. After about 2 months I got a phone message from the consulate saying the PCC is ready to be issued and I should submit my original passport. I drove to NYC consulate, submitted passport, and they gave me the PCC after about 2 hours.

this question is especially for the people in USA with a similar case below
I am in USA looking to immigrate to canada. I did everything and I already got letter requesting medical examination to be completed within 60 days. They also requested I should send police clearances (which we had done long time and we submitted one year ago with my application package -because that is what they wanted in the check list at buffalo) Now they are asking these police clearance again to go along with medical exams - Honestly I don't know where to start this process with FBI again because I am worried it will take about 3months (that is what happened last time-it took three months for us to get from Criminal justice information Services division Virginia ) The finger print card was stamped at the back "no arrest record" and a date. there was no anywhere written duration of the fingerprint or validity -please note also when we submitted our first application at Buffalo they returned these original card back to me . Then after like a week or so they send letter to conform receipt. since then we believed may be they simply copied and wanted to return originals to me -Now they want it again -Should we re-submit it again what we have ,why did they ask us for these things earlier and now they want again ? my worry is that it will take more than the 60 days that they asked to bring medical exam receipts- so what should I do? Is there anyone with similar situation. Believe me if there would be an easy way to get these fingerprints again from FBI i would do it ,but it just not simple -it took three months to get these originals that i have now - (The original finger print report from my country also was returned but i am still having all the originals here -Please advice

There is a validity period for FBI fingerprinting that you need to find out how much. Anyways, should you need to re-apply for fbi, it takes rougly around 15 days to get one! (maybe it took 3 months then). I think you should go mail for re-application of fbi irrespective of the old one is valid or not, i am sure you will get it by mail in less than 15 days and if you don't get by deadline, send the old one.

It took me 13 days exactly to get mine including mailing time.
It is very simple all what you need to do is to attach a letter saying that
"I need the report for immigration to canada by xx-xx-xxx and put the date you want let's say if you send it tomorrow you can note the by date as 06-22-2008"

I found a place for finger printing and I will just send it tomorrow again to FBI- thank you everybody for your support it such a good thing to have invisible but visible friends to help and give ideas.
Does anyone in USA knows how long it takes for the New york immigration office to to send you a Legal permanent Letter after you have submitted all -send them medical ,police clearance, apllication fee for LPR etc etc a I mean all. The reason I ask is because my son in asia need to join a university during this coming fall in ontario so I was wondering if you think if we submitt tomorrow we shall have him go with LPR by august or not . His school starts 4, September .if not it means we have to help him get a visa from Canadian embassy i-will they give him? how does that work -anyone with similar situation or advise?
