Topic: Taking up a job in Canada, with my PR apps in Buffalo submitted in June 16 2008
Posted by AppForCan (3) 20 Jun 2008
Hello Friends,

Can some one please let me know is it a good idea to take up a job in Canada?
I am currently in US and filed my Canada PR application in Buffalo office in June 16, 2008
Will working in Canada help me or hurt me with my PR...especially since I have not received any AOR and not sure how the new law would affect my chances. Thank you

Working in Canada means you have arranged employment. This will sure help. However any employer doesnot easily go for this option - they first need to check that the reqd talent is not available in Canada and so to invite foreign nationals.

Work experience in Canada will help your application, however I don't know how useful it will be if you have already filed.

If, however, your Canadian employer is willing to sponsor you, the Provincial Nominee Program is the way to go. I believe that you can re-apply through the PNP system if your PR application has not been approved yet (especially as your app. is still in the early stages). If approved, this will allow you to immediately begin working in Canada, and expidite the PR process. You can also begin working on a Temporary Work Permit and live and work in Canada while your regular PR application is in the que. Either one of these options requires you to find an employer willing to work through a ton of paperwork for you and apply for a Labour Market Opinion from the HRDSC.

Good luck.
