Topic: Question: should spouse apply independently or with me as a dependent?
Posted by namesake (78) 23 Jul 2008
My wife and I have same level of education (both have masters from the US) and work experience (both have more than 4 years of work experience). We both are in the same profession. My question is which would be more beneficial - to put her as my dependent or we both apply separately?

I am not sure if it would matter in terms of points. Any thoughts, ideas??

Let me ask two more questions -

1. The IELTS is required for the applicant only?
2. If my wife and I have same qualification, work experiences but she has better score in IELTS. Because of that she gets total 77 points compared to my 73 points. Should she apply as the principal applicant? Not sure if it will really improve the chances or if it will make them suspicious.

Hi My friend
Yes, She can apply as the principal applicant. It doest make them suspicious. They donot really care. You donot have to file seperately.

Do you both have same NOC code? anyone who has a NOC code that is in demand (ex: IT) is better to be a principal applicant according to me. If NOC code are the same, go for whoever works in a bigger firm.
