I am requested to submit my transcripts and I have graduated from an Indian university. As most Indian universities issue only 1 set of original transcripts to the student the universities do not have a habit of issuing multiple original transcripts(like in the US or canada).
Has anyone had problems with canadian immigration in accepting notarized copies of transcripts and degree certificates from India?
Please let me know.

Hi, Raghavendra,
I think it is better you notorize in India. It worked for me.
I know one person landed into problem (only delay in application processing), he got all his certificates and marksheets (transcripts) attested by Indian Embassy here in Kuwait. (It was some time ago, now the Indian Embassy Kuwait does not do certificates attestation work.) When the Indian Embassy attested a document, they put a stamp stating that 'This embassy is not responsible for the authenticity of the original document'. That lead to some suspicion to the CIC officer and they asked him to send the originals for verification, which he did and they returned the orignails, do not know, what sort of verification they did at the CIC, ultimately all went through, but it caused delay.
Hope this info is useful.

Hi Rabbani, Thanks for the information. Who notorized it for you in India? Did you get it notarized at the university? Please let me know.

Any 'Notary Lawyer' in your region in India, would do it, and the process is so simple. 5 Rs. stamp and about Rs. 50/- for the lawyer for each paper.

Rabanni,
Thanks for the info. In that case can I get any notary in the US do the same job for me? Would that not work?
|
No, I do not think so, notarized lawyers of India do this work for documents issued by any Indian organization, they do the work only in India, they do not practice elsewhere other than India.

I just send my transcript photocopy. CIC website nowhere tells about notarization. Why bother?

If your original was in English / French this is Ok. If not then you need to get it notarized. This is in application kit...I suggest to go thro' it once more :)

I send my photocopies along with authorization letter to my friend who is in India, he submitted my photo copies two sets in university and payed with in 4 weeks he received and he sent to Canada. It is better to submit with trascriptions because the cover itself sealed by university. This is just my openion only.
