Does anybody know that Skilled Worker PR is eligible for Refugee/Asylee as well ?

Thanks for any response.

Do you mean if you were an asylee/refugee can you apply for Skilled worker PR? If so, then yes you can apply. But you have to show that you have lived legally in the country where you are applying from for at least a year.

If you are a refugee claimant you can apply in buffalo as a skilled worker if you legally admitted to US or Canada for atleast 1 year.

Do you have a link on the CIC website that says you can do this? I don’t really know the answer but vaguely remember that you cant. But I think that was for provincial nomination.

Again, I dont know for sure, but better to check with CIC before sending in $550 for the application fees.

Well, I am an asylee in the US and I applied for skilled worker PR and they accepted my application. I am stuck on BC but passed initial assessment and did not need to take EILTS. Hope this helps.

If you are a refugee claimant you can not apply for PNP immigration but you can apply as a skilled worker.

Thanks Sahil4u, I wasnt sure how that works.

mathaabhai, no US GC holder cannot work freely in Canada neither can US citizens. You would need work permit for Canada.

Thank you so much for your info, Grags. It's really help. Otherwise, I have to spend $1,600 for application fees for my whole family included 2 children without any confidence. Did you apply yourself or via lawyer, Grag2 ? Any interview that time for you ?

Thanks again, Graig2

I applied myself. I dont think you need a lawyer unless your case is complicated(criminal charges). I did not need an interview. Wrote a letter explaining my english and that was it. Good luck.

Thank's grag2. How long did you get PR Canada since you submitted the application? and in your application, did you explain your status or not? Thank's.

Yes, you need to show your status when you submit your application.
I applied Feb 2007. My wife was pregnant when they send me the medical forms, so that delayed a bit my application. Also, I had a discrepancy on my english proficiency claim (letter for english proficiency I wrote) with the englich proficiency on the application. So, they gave the oppurtunity to take EILTS, but I did not. So, that delayed my application for 4 months. Now I am waiting for background check. I hope this helps.

As a green card holder the process is the same as if you were a non-us residence. NAFTA only applies to citizens of Canada, US and Mexico. It does not apply to Permanent Residence of any of these countries.

Your employer would need to apply for Labor Market Opinion (LMO) and if positive you would need to apply for work permit based on that.

If your job falls in one of the exempt categories (see links below), you may not need an LMO and/or work permit:
