Topic: How long it takes after medical for ppr at buffalo office
Posted by bluestocking (15) 28 Feb 2008
Have you got the words like "BF FILE TO: Row on XXX". Mine is row on Jan. 25. I don't know what that means. I am from China, too. I have been waiting for over six months after medical. It is so frustrating. Yours is still within the normal time, I think.

if you enquire to CIC office, would CIC office emails you saying the application is in process even when they process your passport request?
Or in process means, that they haven't done passport request yet,,,,?

M just wondering...

The problem is even I don't know whether they got my ME or not, because my online status always is in process. I try call Ottawa - the immigration centre to make sure whether they get my ME or delegate ME to my case process office already, however, there is always nobody answer phone. It is very hard during the waiting period.

Application sent 2/2007. Requested IELTS, insted sent a letter explaining my english proficiency. Medical forms sent in july07. I completed my physical in aug 07. My wife was pregnant at the time. She completed hers in nov 07 along with our newborns. Still waiting for mail. Online status check says "in process". How long does it usually take for them to receive medical results and when do I expect mail from them. Thank you.

CIC buffolo is really bad in responding. I sent them fax a week ago, expecting them to fax me back with notes on my letter. They didn't send me anything. Well, it has been over six months since my medical was done. Almost five months since my landing fee was paid. But I haven't got any receipt for my landing fee yet. I am wondering what they are doing there especially given that I have 80 points achieved in the assessment and "no apparent concern" according to my CAIPS.
I thought the background checking is already over now, 'cause the email reply said "in process", instead of like before"request background information from other government offices." I feel so depressed about it.

Buffalo center is more effieicnt than other centers over the world. However, they generally don't respond to inquiries regarding the application status ..this actually may even delay your application processing. I know people who waited a year after the medicals. Their medicals are expired after the passport request and they were asked to revalidate their medicals. It is really not predictable. You seem to be very anxious. You need to calm down ..otherwise you will burn yourself in thinking...

Thanks for nice words. Actually, I received my PPR letter today just a few days after I found my online status was changed into "Medical results have been received." Well, I was sort of relieved now. Anyway, I have been waiting for 7 months after my medical was done. Undoubtedly, they did conduct background check in my home country. It finally came to an end. Anyway, guys in this forum, just stay patient and you will be fine.

G luck to all.

I got my PPR on March-19 (last week), exactly 10 days after user 'cvv31' got his. And I am going to Buffalo in person on a Thurs for getting my PPR., taking advice of another user 'usfazli'. No point in mailing my precious passport!

And as soon as I get immig visa, I plan to drive upto toronto in car as a landed immigrant, apply for SIN & PR card & come back to USA on the same day.

(1) How long is the CAD immig visa valid? 6 mo? 12 mo?
(2) After I apply for SIN,PR, can I come back to US on the same day using my H1B visa? Cos I have read elsewhere that one cannot leave Canada without the PR card!

Any help appreciated.........

hyderabadi,

If u r in USA, no need police certificate, just the FBI certiifcate would do. I am sure u know how to do that, right? If not, google it.

I got back 'no record' Fingerprint Card (FD-258) from FBI within 10 business days, cos my immig deadline was fast approaching in 3 weeks. FBI is very prompt in that matter.

The only problem /w FBI is their delay /w US Immig. Background check (I-485), and they suck at that!

Background check duration is non deterministic. It usually depends upon in how many countries you have liveda and may be some more factors.
Avg time can be anything between 2 - 8 months
