Topic: Could anyone provide the steps as to how to get the FBI and Police check? Thanks
Posted by lystrom (63) 01 Apr 2008
I am starting my PR emigration process , so kind of new to that. just like to ask about the FBI checking, could anyone please provide me with some steps to get the police clearence in the US as well as finger prints and Letter of Good Conduct. Do I need all of them or just the letter from FBI? How do I contakt them, what address should I use.? I would deeply appreciate for any of your help.
Thanks

lystrom,

You need to get NOC (No Objection Certificate) from FBI. Usually, this is provided once you send your fingerprints to FBI. Just search Google, check the FBI site, contact them on phone and order the fingerprints form you need for application. Once got those, get fingerprints on those from a local agent.

You can also check with your local Police station in this regard. If they entertains the fingerprinting requests then no need to check with FBI guys. Just get that done and send to FBI.

You can submit the application without FBI fingerprinting record and can update consulate that this is in-progress. Also make sure you send the results from FBI asap to consulate.

For different countries there may be different ways to obtain Police certificate. For USA, this the link to get the information http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

I am not sure what other towns / cities you are referring here. Canada immigration site has all details mentioned in the website.

You can submit your application without police and FBI report. You can
these document submit later. Infact most likely they can ask to resubmit
FBI report later
