Topic: H1-B stamping in Mumbai consulate (PIMS)
Posted by sachinis (4) 22 Sep 2008
Hello group,

Are there still PIMS related delays in the Mumbai Consulate? I am planning to go for a H1-B visa restamp (as the one from my old employer has expired). I am reaching India on Jan 1 2009 and plan to attend the interview in the first week of Jan (Jan 2 at the earliest). Also my return ticket to the US is on 21st Jan. Please advise. Is there any way to get PIMS verified while i am in the US? Also note that i dont have a AP as my employer has not yet applied for my GC.

Thanks
Sachin

I attended mumbai consulate last month and I did not see any problems or delays in my stamping. Just couple of routine questions about employer and jobs etc. Goodluck with your stamping.

Hi Sachin,
Did you get an appointment for Jan 2nd already? I tried to take an appointment and I see that they allow you to book one month in advance. If you did already get an appointment please tell me how? Also if you have any details of the PIMS delays can you post it.
Thanks,
smmgc

Hello smmgc,

No i dont have an appointment yet. And i agree that they allow appointments only one month in advance. So i am waiting for the day when the slot opens. I don't have much information about the PIMS delays apart from what the previous user has said and some forums on the net. I guess there are no delays now. Not sure though.

Regards
Sachin

Hi Group,

I am in US right now, planning to come to india in Dec and will take the stamping date as soon as i reach there.
As of now i plan for 2nd dec.
I work for a consultant in US, is there a huge risk if I go for stamping in India (Mumbai).
My employer is pressurizing me to go to Canada and stamp my visa.

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Thank You,
dimpee
