Hi Balaji Sai,
Congrats. Even my case I got the receipt no and the status is not updated eventhough it shows an email has been sent to me about the steps involved in processing the application. I never received any email from USCIS till date. My employer/consultant sent me only the receipt no filed in Vermont Centre.
I didnot get any other feed back from them. Every time they say wait for some more time we are not completed.
Generally stamping will be done the city where the passport has been issued.

Hi balaji sai... Congragulations. Yep it would be more better if you go to mumbai consulate rather than chennai. Make sure that you have required documentation, valid data, passport etc... . Definitely you will get visa. Don't worry. Mumbai consulate is thousand times better than US consulate at Tamilnadu. I mean you won't have too many questions. Last year one of my friend went to mumbai 4 extension of Visa. He did it. Ofcouse your case is different here. But you can do it with valid documentation. Hope your employer will help you in that stuff. 4 approval notice from USCIS.... I hardly know about it. Consult your employer and make sure before you go 4 visa stamping.All The Best

i am also in the same boat. even my employer keeps saying this. i think that they are just trying to avoid the refunds.
see if once you give them the money they will not return easily as then they think its their own money, which is sooo bad on their part. they jus try to take advantage of someone's helplesness.
Just get after him and ask for your refund, seriously. Good luck..........

HOPE WE WILL GET SOON THE APPROVAL NOTICE. MAY BE UR CASE TAKEN VERY LATELY FOR FULL ADJUDICATION.

Thanks for your update. I also registered in USCIS EGOV website for receiving any updation in my application and in this portal it shows as if some updation has taken place on June 4,2008 but no communication from USCIS/Consultant Employer.
What is really happening there I dont know. Can I know what is your receipt date and is it premium and which centre.

BUT I DON'T KNOW WHYIT IS NOT UPDATED IN USCIS WEBSITE

Thanks for your immediate reply and update. I am observing and analysing the discussion forum for womtime now and I can really feel it is like a one day cricket match. Full of uncertainity. no updation/limited updation. Why so closed. The US government should display the name of the applicant in the status updation module of its web site to make the applicant understand where they stand.

i didnt pay anything for my h1b visa, my employer did (btw, i wasnt hired through a consultancy company, i found the job miself) and i dont know if i got a receipt notice or not, cause the lawyer is taking care of everything. All i know is that i wasnt approved yet,maybe i have a receipt or maybe not, but my point for this conversation is that things are not clear yet, my employer said to wait cause the lawyer said that are still good chances to get approved. So dont start doubting your employer yet, mine has no reason to lie, cause i didnt pay anything.
Another thing, 2-3 weeks ago i found out from my employer that uscis changed the last day of sending notification from june 2nd to june 6th, but in their press release there wasnt anything published about this. So, i think you guys should try trusting your emplyer for another 1 week. I checked again the press release and nothing. Dont you guys think that they will publish a press release when all this will end???

Still i have not received any information from my employer about me, even the status message shows that the approval
notice sent....I was little worried that we have already discussed that i am only Bsc (Mathematics) graduate
having more than 15 years in IT, It means that before 4 years i was in lower version of IT....
Past 4 years only i am in ASP.NET field...Still i am nervoused about the chennai consultate...
Whether i will get it or not.....

I found this article today:
USCIS Service Center Operations has provided the following information to AILA liaison regarding processing cases under the FY2009 H-1B cap:
1. Except for cases that were being reviewed as potential duplicate filings, all receipts have been issued for those cases selected in the random lottery. The CSC and VSC completed data entry on all selected cases on May 23, 2008, and mailing of all receipts was completed on May 24, 2008.
2. Cases that were thought to be duplicate filings are being hand reviewed to determine if they are true duplicates. USCIS has received approximately 500 petitions that are believed to be duplicates. However, some of these were submitted as "protective filings" due to courier delivery confirmation problems or where the petition was sent to an incorrect Service Center. Each will be reviewed and determined on a case-by-case basis. If the second submission was accompanied by an explanation of the reason for the second submission, there is a good chance of acceptance.
3. USCIS has determined that the number of petitions selected during the random selection process will be sufficient to meet the cap limit. Therefore, the use of the reserve/cushion will not be necessary this year. USCIS has begun to mail out rejections this week.
I wrote to my employer to ask the lawyers what is going on, cause they just put me on hold, and the lawyers said that its good that we dont know anything, cause uscis are cutting people from the list and there are very good chances to get the visa...what do i think?? i think my lawyers are full of shit and they have absolutly no ideea what are they talking about. Anyways, i will keep you guys posted about what is going on and what was my employers answer.
im sorry i dont have good news, but dont worry guys, i didnt get my visa either (or atleast this is what i suppose cause the lawyers didnt tell my employer if i got the receipt notice or not...they dont even answer her phone...niceeee no?)

I have somewhat conflicting information based on my employer's conversation with the USCIS Business Liaison today. They said that not all the receipts have been mailed out yet and USCIS is expecting to mail receipts and application packages until the end of June. They did not provide any specific information regarding my status.
I am not sure whether we should believe this or not. They also said that they do not plan to issue any press release informing H-1 B applicants about delays in the proceedings which I find outrageous given the fact that USCIS own press release of April 14 specified as deadline June 2.

Hi Leelavathi,
The person in the consulate will only verify the credentials of what you have already submitted and he will verify your purpose of visit and he will ask you questions like your assets and dependant details. So Dont worry you will defietely get through if you satisfy him/her with above questions. I'm telling this becuase i have already got approval in 2006, but my employer has not send me at that time, i have applied this time with another consultant , got selected in lottery, no receipt number and anxiously waiting like 100's of others in this forum

All:
I just spoke to my friend who has received H1 B twice and lived in US for nearly 8 years .
"Petitioners whose properly filed petitions have been selected for full adjudication should receive a receipt notice dated no later than June 2, 2008."
The above means, your receipt date will be dated no later than June 2 and that is not the final receipt number to be sent from USCIS. So be patient for one or two weeks and dont shooot emails and phone calls to your employer / consultant, they must be seeing this every year and usually will ignore your requests. Let's trust them atleast for some more time.

When i am going to US Chennai consulate, Whether i will have to show my Flat purchased stamp papers.
or any other deposits to be shown to them. My approval mail has sent by 3rd June in the status report.
But so far i don't received any of the papers from my employer / consultate....
How long it will take me to receive the papers from my employer...Since so many mails have sent by me..

No i did'nt show any deposits, nor any Stamp papers, you just have to answer them convincingly, i was interviewd by a lady, she only asked me 4 or 5 questions and she asked me to show my degree certficates, she asked me do you have any other documents, i said no. Then after a while i think shes convinced and said your visa is approved and you will get your passport in courier. For your own satisfaction, may be you can show whatever details that you feel might be releavant to prove that you are only going there for work and you have reasons to come back to your native country. What you wrote is correct, every one should answer by own heart and do not try to play with the consulate officer, and try to show what you have the correct documents and answer promptly.

Pls note that consulate officer will see your intention to going to US (i.e. to WORK)
Pls also note that your behaviour and communication plays important role while with officers in consulate.
If you are married Pls go with your spouse (apply for H4 as well).
Keep full information of your employer.
I believe every one who has got approval intimation they should be receiving their documents by end of Aug08/Sept08.
I am sure 90% of employers will not send the documents before end of JULY08 so keep mum till end of 1st week of Aug08.
Do not do any effort on sending emails to your employer..

Current Status: Case received and pending.
On May 13, 2008, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.....
How long it will take for processing... What is the date that your application is recieved by them... so that i can corelate with my case and approximatly come to know how long it will take for me..

I think once you get selected in lottery, you have crossed half your hurdle, you can probably check with your employer / consultant whether they received any status as in Balaji Sai's case his employer got appproval email, but the status is not updated, or please wait until they update the status. I can imagine how you feel at this point. These are anxious waiting times, i'm so relieved this morning when my employer sent the EAC number and when i checked the Status online. Please keep your hopes alive, as you can see in my case USCIS sent approval notice on June 11th

My employer issued me offer for "System Analyst" but i have been worked in the organisations as QA Analyst or QA Tester.
Well i want to know whether my new offer from US employer will be problem for me? But i am MCA holder and with 10+ yrs of IT Testing Experience and my present designation is QA Analyst, and stay in Singapore and having Singapore PR status.
Ofcourse i can do System Analyst job and perform those responsibilities. but
Pls let me know will there be any problem during the stamping? - Whether consulate offer will ask me why i have System analyst offer but i am working as QA Analyst?

Hi , Today I received an update in USCIS website case showing case status as REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE SENT AND TILL SUCH TIME PETITION WILL BE KEPT IN SUSPENSION. What is the additional evidence they require I donot know and can any one put some light on it.

it depends on what the rfe says. if its something concerned with u then the employer will ask you for the information. if its something concerned with the employer like tax documents or company documents then the employer will send it by himsef

RFE will be reffered If your and your employer background would not be satisfied by processor.
But don't worry during this forum and according to observations 99% success happened with RFE.
This RFE is mostly due to inability of your immigration lawyer through you have been applied. Before filling you could have checked all the requirements.
