Topic: Changes to UK Immigration in 2008
Posted by NastyKid (228) 03 Aug 2007
The current UK ,Immigration policies are under review by the Home office and there is a parlimentory selection panel appointed and working though out.

There is going to be 5 tier point based system and only top tier is going to be HSMP.further more , they are also considering to curve the volume of immigration in tho form of some numerical figure, and propotional to the no of countries entries.(The Tory party also shown thier idea of numerical no of immigrations).

So any one of us comming to the UK , has a definite challange.Its been discussed also the income level has to go up in #the point based system (I have seen in their publicationsit is some where like 40K per year )and you can show the income on your selected field (currently if you are a business consultant and has qualified in business management you can show income from a retail job (not retail management) ).

4 years before , when the first wave of HSMP immigrants came to the country , they said they can get UK PR in 4years +. but last year , they did change it to 5 years, even knowing there are people who came here for 4 year UK PR AIM.That forced them to re apply and meed the new conditions,which some of them has got truble to do so.

As part of HSMP Application we sign saying we agree to any changes down the line.The story is they are getting harder and harder as they do more and more filtering.Once you come here there is no return , even though some of the job markets are really good.

Those who come to UK like these people http://www.hsmpforum.com/ , well we have to think carefully and see these stories here.If you are here,please do gather to help each other.
After all this is not your country , and you will not get the right , pride or respect you get in this country that easily, even you are allready in UK.They under estimate your skills to some extent.It has been always the case with many.

##################### Abstract Home Office Web Site

#
consolidating more than 80 existing work and study routes into five tiers:
tier 1 - highly skilled, e.g. scientists or entrepreneurs;
tier 2 - skilled workers with a job offer, e.g. nurses, teachers, engineers;
tier 3 - low skilled workers filling specific temporary labour shortages, e.g. construction workers for a particular project
tier 4 - students; and
tier 5 - youth mobility and temporary workers, e.g. working holiday makers or musicians coming to play a concert.
#
points to be awarded to reflect aptitude, experience, age and also the level of need in any given sector, to allow the UK to respond flexibly to changes in the labour market;
#
a system of sponsorship by employers and educational institutions to ensure compliance;
#
financial securities for specific categories where there has been evidence of abuse to ensure that migrants return home at the end of their stay; and
#
the ending of employment routes to the UK for low-skilled workers from outside the EU except in cases of short-term shortages.

Hi,

Yep. did get a chance to read about the changes... i'd say it makes sense in having that as a criteria, else its gonna be real tough to survive in that market.

its also better every aplicant does a thorough groundwork before making a decision.

btw, im a erp consultant.

thanks mate.
Shankar.

Hi

yes you can book online

Have a look at gumtree web site for cheap accomadation.Loot has some more as well.worst case , an email to a hotel asking for accomadation and their reply

They will accept it, even a email print saying you have accomadation will help
my understanding is c++,related technologies has a good demand for right qualifications

all the very best

Hey arrange it for 2 weeks
EG: you can book for 2 weeks and tell in section 10 that until you arrange your own accomadation you have booked
2 weeks.
they are not tough on these issues as they are day to day.If you are a studfent , then its a different thing and they are bit hard on you

I am sure you will not have any issues
be happy

:)

Good Luck

Hi Nasty,

Thanks for the info.
How much amount can I show as my bank balance.
3 lacs is enough. My father will be my sponsor.
Will there be any issues.

Is it really very hard to get a good job in UK.
I came to know that job consultants will make lots of money and paying very less to us.
will there be any companies that will hire directly with out consultant support.

Because my concern is that resigning a cool job in hand and not getting a proper job in UK is difficult, right.

What about you? Did you or any of your friends faced such problem?
You suggestions/comments are very valuable.

Cheers:)

Hi,

My skill sets are C++, STL and Win32API on windows platform with 3.5+ years of experience.
I worked on C# for around 1year long back.
I am currently working as a developer in a antivirus s/w company.

I have registered in site like monster, CWJobs.com and started applying for jobs in UK.
But till now no body turned back at least with a response.
Do I have to have a working VISA to apply for jobs, if so, many people are applying EC with job offer letters how come this is possible. How did they manage to get a job without a VISA. I was perplexed.

What is the path they would have followed to get a job?
