Topic: Tier 1 Visa and Same Sex Dependant
Posted by jtcf1981 (23) 01 Sep 2008
Hello all,

I am currently in the process of waiting for my HSMP visa to be approved (and what fun that is), and will eventually need clearance for my same sex partner to come over.

Given that the UK recognises the status of same sex partnerships and Australia isn't quite there yet, I was wondering what documental evidence we need to submit to prove that we are in a relationship. We got our relationship registered at the City of Melbourne last year who issued us with a certificate stating that we'd been together for two years. As I understand it, we would need to prove that we have been in a relationship tantamount to marriage for at least two years (we've been together 3 years now and living together for 2). So that's as close to an "official" document as I'm going to get.

We have mortgage papers on a house we bought together (the house is in both our names), and I have saved up every birthday card, Valentine's Day card, wedding invitation, birthday invitation, banks statements and bills that have both our names on them (yes, I am strangely sentimental but glad I saved all of it now!). Is there anything else we should provide?

Also, is there a time limit on when my partner can enter the UK? Let's say that I get my HSMP letter in October and I manage to get my EC and arrive in the UK by February 2009, is there a time limit on when my partner can enter the UK? I tried finding something like that in the UK Immigration terms and conditions but couldn't, and was wondering if I was missing something.

I was wondeirng if anyone has been through this and would care to please share their experiences with me, as obviously my partner and I would like to be in the same country!

Many thanks,

JT.

Hi
The same rules as unmarried partner applies to u. U will need to submit three proofs that u and ur partener are staying together for last two years.
You already have one. Now u need two more. one is the mortgage paper which is also a very good proof. For the last proof u need any utility bills which u have in joint names, joint bank statements or any utility bill/bank statment in single name but carrying ur address + another correspondence in ur partner name carrying the same address. The another correspondence could be another utility bill or income tax paper or any govt issued document with ur address clearly mentioned.
Ur partner or u can enter anytime once u have ur EC stamped.
