Posted by skhsmp (23) 31 Mar 2008
Hi Guys/Gals,

Anyone how has got the HSMP approval Letter and now applying for Tier1, please share your experience.
The New set of documents needed and the timelines.
Unfortunately, I am unable to contact the VFS office help numbers- 080-40084008 to ask for some clarification.
Anyone knows whom to contact to get details.
The forms for Main Applicant if VAF9A and VAF9B. Which is the form for Depandants?

Thnx

Hi

I am also confused.
I also got my HSMP approval in february 2008.I am also planing to apply for EC in this month.
I talk to VFS they said that i will be under old rules. So i have to file VAF 2 form.I will be getting 2 years visa.

But on maintenance front they told me it is mandatory to show funds in the account.
you should have 2800 GBP for 3 months in your account.
This is really confusing.Because this rule comes up with new PBS system.

So i am also worried i am not getting the correct information from vfs as well.

Is transitional arrangements is for candidates like us?who are part way through the HSMP process.

Any answers suggestions?

Others please share your expereinces.how should we proceed further?

regards

I was told by VFS guys that those who already got HSMP Approval should apply EC with Old process only. Maintenance section is also not required. I got it confirmed thrice.

Thanks,

Hi,
I also got Approval Letter in Feb 2008 and now planning for EC. I contatcted VFS on telephone and email as well. On email they said that u have to apply under old rule and sent me forms also. when i called on 1st April 2008, they told me that u have to file VAF9 A , VAF 9B and VAF2. and as per those forms u need to maintain 2800 GBP throuout 3 months in your bank account. Then i called my consultant he told me that he got info. that everything is same for old ppl. ufffff now i am scared to even going for EC.

Hi,

Same story here. In the VFS site under transitional arrangements section they have mentioned no need to fill the attribute section and directly go to maintenance section of the application form. The word application form is hyperlinked and when you click that, form VAF9A opens. So what I have understood is we need to fill section 7 of the form VAF9A and form VAF9B
Also in the fee section they have mentioned as 200 pounds for people already having approval letter.

When I called VFS help line they intially said EC for people with HSMP approval letter before April is same as old. When I said that in the site it is mentioned as I described above they said then follow as mentioned in the site. Even they also not clear about the process. May be the answers depend on the person who is attending call.

Totally it is confusing and may be we need to wait for few days till everything gets clear.

Hello,
I called the VFS call center y'day morning. I was told that I had to apply for EC as per the old regulations. Upon insisting that the website says that I have to use the Tier-1 application form, the call center escalated the call to her supervisor.

This Mr Supervisor assured me that the website will be updated soon.. and that he has the latest info that we have to use the previous application format . This news he said is currently not reflected in the website as he recieved this intimation just y'day.

So i posed him a simple question ..."where is the application form , that i need to fill". He said he would find out and promptly cut the call.I thought i remembered his name and called the VFS center again. One lady with a screeching voice said that the supervisor "Mr Supervisor" is on a call and that the call with me had got "disconnected" and he would call back.

I am not expecting one .and did not get a call .

TODAY Morning I called Again, its the same STORY.............. they are saying Old process but upon saying the Website does not say so they are NOT SURE......

MY APPROVAL LETTER STATES THAT I MUST NOW MAKE AN APPLICATION FOR ENTRY CLEARANCE TO COME TO UK UNDER HSMP/TIER 1 (GENERAL)

. and am back to square one...........So if any one can answer my 3 Questions , it would be great :

3 Questions on Transitional arrangements for those with a HSMP approval letter

I have recieved my HSMP approval letter on the 26th March 2008. After a thorough search, I understand that arrangements have been put in place to allow those who have an HSMP approval letter to apply for entry clearance under "Transitional arrangements for those with a HSMP approval letter".

Since I would be applying for EC from Bangalore under the above-mentioned arrangment, could you pls clarifyconfirm the below mentioned points for me.

1)In the application form, should I fill only the Maintainence Section and Ignore the Rest of the sections, since I have the HSMP approval letter ?

2) What should be the fund balance shown. Is it 800 Pounds or 2800 Pounds . Also whether the amount (800 or 2800) should be present in my a/c around the time of applying or throughout the 3 months.

3) Can Fixed Deposits , be shown as proof of maintainence funds . I think this is a reasonable point as I cannot imagine people keeping (if the amt is 2800pounds i.e around 2lakhs 30 Thousand Rupees) idle in their savings a/c for 3 months without prior intimation /purpose.

Cheers,
Iranoff

Hi Everyone,

I too have the same story.

Ysterday I went to VFS office Delhi. The person who was handling HSMP case had no idea about the new rules. he gave me old forms and asked me to fill the same. I was told that I fall under the old rule. When I showed them the Website Print out about the Transitional Arrangement, he went inside to discuss with someone and after a long time came back to tell I was correct and should fill the new forms 9A and 9B.
Now I asked the Dependents form, he handled me VAF2 which is from oct 07 and insisted I fill the same.
Then I showed him the new Dependants form VAF10 and asked him to confirm now which should i fill.
He again went back and came after some time telling that I should use the VAF10 form!!!!
And he asked me to submit all the documents of HSMP as well as PSB...
These VFS guys do not know anything.
On asking out the fee, I was told with HSMP approval Letter if I WANT to apply under PSB tier1 , I should pay 48000 where by the letter will be reissue....
But on their notice board it was written that PSB tier1 Applicant with HSMP approval Letter should pay 16000.
This is the most bad experience I had about the EC.
And you are correct. its scary to apply. If the application is cancelled due to any reason, the Hard earned money is LOST.

But still I am applying for EC next week with the new set if forms.

BEST OF LUCK to ALL of US!!!!

Hi Guys,

Its nice to share the info and experience. I also got the HSMP approval in the month of FEB '08 and have to go for EC. I had visited Blore VFS office and asked the same questions at Enquiry desk, but I got to know that they do not have the updated information and finally I got my turn to ask the few questions to officer who is taking the HSMP documents. He said even if we have the valid HSMP approval letter and if we go for EC after April 1st the new rules will applicable for us but we ll be paying 16000/- as visa fee.

And I hope following link will give the proper documentaion for EC.

http://echsmp.blogspot.com/2007/12/ec-application-under-hsmp.html

Pls share your experiences as I have to go for EC.

Thanks,
Srinivas.

Hi,
Today i personally visited VFS Office Mumbai and asked them regarding EC process. Still they r giving and accepting EC as per old rules who has HSMP approval letter. I gave a reference to them as their own site and also home office site, but still he is telling me old story only. Then i showed him mail printout which i got from British High Commission, Chennai stated that i have to file as per new rule. i.e. i have to fullfill Maintenance Fund Criteria (2800 GBP - 3 Months). After that he got confused. And told me that from last 7-8 days they r taking EC applications as per old rule only. He gave me British High Commission, Mumbai number and told me to contact them only for latest update........

So guys any body planning to do EC after all these confusion????????????

Hi Kamal,
Please dont provide wrong info in this forum. To score 45 points you need to have earned 40,000 pounds in india within a period of 12 months i.e 40,000*80(approx)=32 lacs per annum. The table posted by sakhsmp is applicable to people who are applying from uk and are already earning in pounds. Thanks
(reply) (report this)
Posted by kamalrajbabu (4) 10 Apr 2008
Hi smarty470 (9),
Due you think , people earning 30lacs/annum in india still want to go to UK for earnings. Please read tier1genpolicy guide on page no 23, they clearly mention that conversion version rate-5.3.
so 45000*5.3 = indian money

Hi Worriedmr,

I called UK Home Office Number and pressed 1, after long wait, somebody picked up the phone but she is unable to give information about EC for the candidates who will be falling under "Transitional Arrangements". Rather she gave Chennai Consulate number and requested me to contact them directly instaed of calling VFS helpline number.

I also called VFS many times and they are more confused than us and not sure about EC application process for candidates who received approval letter dated after 1st April, 2008.

Please let me know answer of following queries..

01. What is cost for EC for primary and dependent applicants who are falling under transitional arrangements"? Is it only 200 GBP or (200 GBP*Number of applicant)?
02. What is the duration for Maintenance Fund should be there in bank account? I saw in BIA website that rule is relaxed and it is one month now for candidates who are applying EC before 29th June 2008, but seems it is for candidates who are in UK, does the same rule extend to people applying from India under transitional arrangements?

Thanks
Sanjit

If your Approval date is before 1st April 08, the old EC rule is applying to you. People whose approval date is after 1st April 08 they only have to apply under Tier1.

I got my approval letter in FEB'08 and planning to go for EC asap, here are my queries for you;

1. Did u only fill VAF 9A and 9B or u filled VAF-2 also?
2. What was the fees, 200GBP or 350GBP?
3. Have you maintained 2800GBP for last three months?

If any other inputs please provide since there is lot of confusion revolving around this new process and also do not forget to post your result of EC. Wish you all the very best.

Hi Vikas DK

Your queries ans-
1) Forms filled - VFS 9A, VFS 9B, Dependent- VFS 10
2) Fee 200 GBP (convert to INR) for myself and each dependents
3)yes, I had linked FD in my account fortunately which helped me meet the mini. req.

Hope they are ok, it that.

Get a statement from Bank stating the min. fund in the bank. The bank personal will not understnd and ask many questions but you have to insist to get that.

Besides that i supplied all the other docs which were needed in earlier HSMP EC. as VFS was not sure which is going to use.
Mentione them in the cover letter.
I think that should work.

Anyone with similar exp. place tell me. I am also very scared as VFS is clueless about the new change. I hope they do not misunderstand anything.
