Topic: Who is currently at NBC
My case was sent to NBC from the lockbox in chicago. I got receipts from NBC and its been exactly one month and no biometrics appointment letter. I just wanted to know if anyone else had their application sent directly to the NBC from the lockbox
|
NBC looks like a death end. They don't even have processing dates for I-485 cases, even though they are responsible for mostly, if not ONLY family based cases. Just be patient, you should hear from them soon. Mine was also sent there one month ago.

Things will Speed once it gets to NBC I think their process rates are similiar to the Cali support
|
I would be so happy if I saw my biometrics letter and got a couple of touches but one whole month and nothing!
|
Even I was wondering why the NBC does not show the processing time for I485. I just finishd my biometrics. But still the I130 does not appear on the online case status search - I am wondering why this is happening.

NBC is where all family based applications are sent, even though your local office does the interviews etc. To check the processing times for an I-485 at NBC you should reference the processing time for your local office. For example, my case was also sent to NBC but I have been told to check the Boston local office for the processing time. That gives you some indication on progress unless you get hung up in NC or something similar.

I have no problems with Lockbox/NBC. Here's my timeline:
4/15/08: Filed 485/130/131/765
4/21/08: Four receipt notices arrived
5/14/08: Biometrics
6/17/08: 485 touched
6/19/08: Requested expedite for 765
6/24/08: EAD approved and ordered
6/28/08: Received interview notice for 485
8/27/08: Scheduled interview date (fingers crossed!)
My only concerns were getting fired before EAD gets here, but expediting it worked!
Looks like I might get the actual residency before my AP though! Nothing new about AP at all!

How do you expedite for EAD. Can everyone do that or only those with valid reasons can request for expedite processing of EAD? Please reply.
Thanks

family based 485's are processed by the district office and not NBC , so to get an approcimate estimate check the local office's processing dates

expedite requests are only entertained in case of extreme hardships , other than that you nee to wait 90 days for approval
|
I don't agree that expedite requests are for hardships only.
Mine was approved after explaining that I simply would like to keep my job and that I need my EAD thru 485/130 to come in before my OPT expires.
Card was approved and mailed in 4 days and total days to approval is about 64.

isnt losing a job cause hardship ???? :-)

I mean, of course, you have to have a reason for it, not everyone can just get cases sped up without a purpose, but what I'm saying is in other government applications you gotta be in severe conditions to be treated differently. In this situation USCIS could have said "well wait the extra 25 days, get over it" considering that other expedite requests involve someone's family member dying or something.
It can be for much worse reasons, no, this isn't hardship I wouldn't say that.

beachlover985,
How did you contact USCIS to expedite your EAD? Did you call? Which number?
My OPT is also going to expire at end of Sept. I'm scheduled for finger print on July 18 and am trying very hard to get the EAD so that I can continue my job.
Many thanks,

Call main number at 1-800-375-5283
Call tree options to reach a human being, press in order: 1, 2, 2, 6, 2, 4
That's my same situation - sounds like something they can work with. Mention your job and how important it is to your employer, any financial loss your company and your partner will face without the paycheck etc.
I told them I have a termination letter already issued for the date of my EAD expiration, which I really did, and i was ready to fax it but they didn't ask for evidence. They sped it all up so I don't get fired.
GOOD LUCK!

Many thanks, beachlover985. You are the best! I will try after I get the finger print done and update this forum.
