Topic: INFO-PASS FOR PENDING I- 485
Hi Folks,
I went for infopass yesterday and got some useful info.My case is pending since Nov 2005.I've called CS several times but all I've been getting is same response..........'We are activey processing this case and bla bla bla.........'I didnt know whether its name check or not but at the local office,I got a very helpful person who even pulled my fbi file and showed it to me where it says name check pending. He said that after the memo, namecheck is not an issue any longer but they have a huge backlog of namecheck pending cases waiting adjudication. He wasn't specific how long b4 I receive a decision but mentioned it might be 30-60days from then.He further said that since my FP have expired, they might require renewal b4 adjudication.Anyone who is in this category.I'm confident now its namecheck but not sure whats next though hopeful.Anyone got approval or card ordered notice recently?

What local Office did you go to?

"He further said that since my FP have expired, they might require renewal b4 adjudication."
Why didnt you ask them to renew your FP right then and there? I asked and they did it right away. I had an appointment for my EAD prints as well for the next week, they did it on the spot. They have the biometrics machine at Miami Infopass center. It never hurts to ask.... :-)

Snowflake,I don't know if they do that otherwise I could have asked em to do it.FP isnt a big deal if thats all holding GC.

Last Tuesday, the 11th, I went to San Antonio. This is where my wife's application is on file. The IO was semi-helpful, she told me that they have separated all the cases that fit the 180 day criteria, and they are ready for approval. BUT, the San Antonio office has not yet received authorization to approve these cases. I asked if she's heard any rumors about when the authorization will be given, and of course, "I have no idea." I don't know who this authorization will come from (I'm guessing the big bosses up in D.C.), but at least she acknowledged that these cases are separated and ready to go.
I would hope that the other field offices have done the same. I've noticed that the Service Centers have begun approving based on the memo, it's just us field office applicants that are still waiting.

Yes, it is not a big deal if you don't mind to wait longer... Imagine that your case just got on the adjudicator's desk. Scenario A): IO sees everything is in order except the NC and sends you an approval letter based on the 180 day NC memo.
Scenario B): IO looks thru your case thoroughly and finds out FP are expired. 1 week delay - IO sends letter requesting new biometrics, scheduled for the next month. 5 weeks later - or even with more delays with all these NC files awaiting adjustment, will send you either an approval as per Scenario A or - if there is a retrogression... will put you aside to wait for your PD to be current...
That's only my 2 cents to this thread - do not procrastinate - it never pays off...
I would either take another Infopass or called the center requesting renewal of my FP immediately.

I am in the same boat, My case has been pending the name check since January 2006. I recently got a letter to renew my biometrics, My appt was for 03/11/08, I also had applied for an EAD and I did everything on the same day, even though the EAD biometrcis appt was for 03/21/08. I am still waiting for a response for the GC. I had set up an infopass appt and the IO told me that I am more than likely going to be included in the processing of GC that have been waiting for a name check for more than 180 days. I live in Dallas but my case is at the MO service center.
