Topic: Advanced Parole, how many copies?
Posted by bachus (34) 03 Dec 2007
Hi, when I got my AP in April I received 3 copies. Mine came from Nebraska Service Center.

A friend just got hers and she only got 2 copies. Hers came from National benefit Center. Does that make a difference?

How many copies do you need when you enter the country? I never used mine since I got the CG :)

Thanks

Hey Bachus,

Long time, no visit... :-)

I got 3 copies and so did my wife. However, a friend of mine got only 2 copies. (Does this pattern mean I'll get my GC soon? :-) ).

I have not used them and am not planning on using them (H1-B), but from what I've read, the three copies' purposes are:
-- one for the airlines;
-- one for the POE officer;
-- one for yourself, stamped the first time, to be used for subsequent travels;

Now, I can understand the latter two purposes, but the first escapes me. Why would the airline keep a copy? They're supposed to check the papers, all right, I can understand that. Make a photocopy, all right as well. But keep one?...

There's contradictory information in this thread -- http://www.trackitt.com/discussion-forums/i131-1/45219881/last-page/ -- as well:

I have two copies as well. And as far as i know USCIS only issue you two copies, one for Port of entry IO to keep and the other is stamped by the officer for you to keep.I do not think airline has anything to do with it. Those who have used AP before, can you please cmment. Am i right?

I received 3 copies and I took all of them with me while travelling, but nobody at any point kept any of them (neither the airlines, nor the immigration officer) - all of them were given back to me (one of them is stamped).

So at this point, I'd be inclined to say that two copies suffice...

Hi Adrian,

yeah, since I got my CG I don't come here to visit every day like I used to, but I stop by at least once a week. I still have friends going though the process and it's nice to keep up to date with the latest changes and give them advice, when possible.

So even though I don't post much, I still read. I have an extra glass of wine each time I see someone from Romania being approved :) I hope to drink one for YOU any day now :)

Thanks for the answer and links, and MULTA BAFTA (Good Luck!).

Hi Bachus,

There's another thread on your friend's subject of interest: http://www.trackitt.com/discussion-forums/i131-1/47561863/last-page/

Apparently nothing is set in stone: some people get 3 copies (me and my wife did), some get 2. And nothing is clear as far as how many copies (if any) are retained in the process...

RE: the glass of wine, I'll provide a full bottle when I get my GC :-)
