Topic: Update on H1B Status after 485 Approval - Please Respond Urgent
Guys,My 485 was approved last week and card should be ordered as I talked to USCIS.
In the morning I got an update on my H1B from CRIS. I had signed up for that notification 2 years ago. I panicked as why will they re-open the case?
Please see email below. So when 485 is approved do the update H1B case status? any idea? any one in the same situation?

Dont worry !,
Once your I-485 is approved, your existing H1B becomes void. You got the notification on your H1B, because USCIS has to make the H1B void and update the H1B record accordingly.

Thanks gettinggc, Appreciate your quick response. Yes, 485 approval is good news but I panicked when I saw the email. I totally forgot I 129 is H1B petetion. The reason I panicked is I quit my sponsoring employer after 180 days of 485 pending and invoked AC21. I'm assuming that fu*****er, pardon my french, has has done something now. I'm trying to find out.
Can he revoke anything now? when everything is approved? I called USICIS regarding my 485 approval and they said yes card to be ordered is in the waiting as my FP has to go oin the card so I'm good that way but update on H1B. Do I need to worrky about my previous A'**le, again pardon my spanish, can do anything?

Nothing to worry about all those updates on already approved notices. It happened for me too but not for the GC approval but for some unknown reason. After I transfered my H1B to a new employer and worked for 7,8 months (ofcourse still working) the old H1B status became pending with the similar message as in your case. But I am on different valid H1B and didn't take it serious and didn't recieve any update so far. It happened back in Nov 2007.

Yeah, my H1B was approved way back and you are right they must have adjusted the status now. I called my lawyer and he said that's unsual so I got a little concerned. Sometime the lawyers are also full of sh*** too.

I had an RFE on my H1B extension after I got my GC. The RFE is asking for proof that I was in the country when H1B extension was filed. I was actually out of the country. Lawyer says that since GC is approved, I don't have to worry about it as I don't need H1 anymore.

Yes, I gues you are correct. Lawyers also do not know the funny way of immigration process so they cannot answer anything as a sure shot. Seems like they updated my status, H1B, and something triggered in their system to update the online notification, at least I can assume this till I get my card.

Can my previous Employer revoke anything now?

Well, I have not received the actual card. When I say previous employer... I mean the sponsoring employer... like mehere's case I had also quit the sponsoring employer after 180 days.... and used AC21. 485 approved but have not recieved the Card yet so wonderting if the sponsoring employer can do anything now... like create hurdles by revoking I 140 or somthing like that.

I got my pending H1B extension approved 2 weeks after I485 approval and also I received my physical cards by then. Informed my attorney and she told (as expected), H1B approval/denial does not change anything regarding PR status and I can simply ignore it. In fact she didn't even send me H1B approval notice :).

my H1 was approved back in 06...this update came today.... I have the approval notice. Shall I call USCIS about it or not worry about it now as 485 is approved?

I would say, just sleep on it. You status is already adjusted from Non-immigrant to PR. If you get a decision about I129, just inform your lawyer and ask if you need to do any follow up action, but still nothing to worry.

hmmm...my previous employer might have revoked it.... but 485 is approved can he do anything now?? H1b I dont care... but 485 yes...it's approved though...can he still revoke I 140 ?

Mehere, I have got same update on my approved H1B yesterday but I am no longer with that company as I did invoke AC21 two months ago. I am little nerves, keep updating.

As per replies of others in my post I think uscis updates the status based on their side and this notification comes to us.
Now, I'm not sure if your 485 is approved or not as you have not updated your status on trackitt but what's common in our case is we both used AC21 and changed employer so when we fill that I-9 form where we give our EAD number and all that, my guess is USCIS updates our previous status as we are no more on H1. The language in the notice is something brings the concern, "REOPEN" but I think do not worry as you are in status and your H1 status is no longer valid...if they void it they you dont care, right?
In my case my 485 is approved and I got the approval notice too. I called USCIS yesterday not regarding H1 notice but to enquire about ' dude, where's my card?" very nice IO said that it will be ordered soon as it's gone for the FP to be printed on the card itself and everything else is clear. So, I kinda stopped bothering about the H1 notification. If your 485 is approved call USCIS and ask what's the deal. I will not call or bother about H1 notification anymore till I get something in the mail but if you read answers in this post you will see some got the same after GC in their hands...ha! All said and done I will keep you posted on this discussion and you also do the same if you recieve anything in the mail about H1b notice.
Also, if you can get in touch with your previous employer and ask then that will be helpful. In my case my previous employer is pissed as I quit after 180 days so I dont wanna go that route.

They will reopen I129 when previous company revoke H1B petition. It happened to me also on 5/29. I called previous company lawyer and asked when was H1B withdraw notification sent to INS. He said it was sent on 05/05.
Normally, they used to take couple of months to act on H1B revocations. But, now a days they are working fast. This kind of status messages started coming in mid of last year.
Dont worry guys, nothing will happen once GC is approved.

I think it was received because of my previous company H1B petition withdraw notification sent on 05/05. I also think CSC is working on withdraw notification (it was sent to california center, I think WACXXXX number from CSC).
My previous company lawyer also mentioned that they dont have intentions to revoke 140.
No I did not invoke AC21. Current company lawyer said no to AC21.

I did concurrent filling for I485 in 2007. My 140 is current and did not see any updates and I485 is in process. My previous employers H1 approval which is I129 is reopened 4 months back and i see the below message on uscis.gov

It's almost 90 days and I don't see any status change. Even though that H1 is invalid and I am with a diff employer now and I am really worried does this effect anything to my GC process?
I would appreciate any quick response on this. Thanks in Advacne.

I got notice that my I-485 is approved and that I will be getting my green card in another couple of days. Till now I was working on H1B petition valid till 03/05/2010. Now with the Green card will my H1B status go null and void? If so will I get a notification from the USCIS? The reason I am asking is that I have taken an interview for my parents tourist(B1/B2) Visa on aug 08 . In the application and supporting documents that I have given to them to be submitted to the chennai consulate I have put my status as H1B. Since now I got my GC I wanted to know will this be an issue?

I don't think this may be a problem.
Just send them copy of your documentation about your new status. Then they can show it to the consular officer in the interview.

Iam in the almost similar situation as yours. My GC sponsoring employer applied for my H1 extension since my GC was still pending. Last friday I got mail from USCIS that I485 is approved and card will come in mail in 3 weeks :)
Now my concern is that since the H1B extension is filed will the GC be revoked and my status as PR will change to Non-immigrant status. Iam worried. Please someone help and anybody in the similar situation?
