hmmm.. people are crying to and crying for getting another countries PR , not ditching thier own country.
Strange
Its all about how u think. U too will get ur GC soon then u will know. All the best
|
Good for you.
But I dont understand why your eyes became teary.
What is there to cry. You applied for a card and you got it after some wait. That is all. Why give so much importance to a greencard that it ruins your happiness in life?
Anyways enjoy your card which ever way you want and please stop crying.
smile.
|
I am not crying it was just a moment of happiness, i am all grinned up ear to ear.
|
hmmm.. people are crying to and crying for getting another countries PR , not ditching thier own country.
Strange
i wonder why you even applied ?
tears are not because we got it, it is thinking about the ups and downs and strange situations one had to face at some point or other in there life. it is about joy of having that extra control in life to go do what you want that made me fill my eyes. and week after my gc, i am already in my second job as well and making twice what i did before this peace of plastic was mine.
it is a satisfaction to think i can give my family a better lifestyle. not because i can give up my country or become permenant here. I wll have dual citizenship when i go for my citizenship as well.. so dont worry.
|
Congrads~ Completely understand what you went through. I have been here in the states without GC for 20 years, still waiting....
When was your 485 RD?
|
My PD is july 2001, EB3 India
|
some one from India finishes undergrad in 8 to 9 years ( F1 ) + 6 years H1B and Eb3 + 3 years of Extention = 18 years.
20 years is doable Enduring.:)...
there are several other ways of staying here legally for 20 years ..
|

Sigh, I wish I was exaggerating....
1988-1994: F-2 (From Elementary through Middle School, dependent to my dad as he studies for his MBA)
1994-2000: H-4 (High School through College, twice, my dad just couldn't get ours family's 485 approved, as he's under h1)
2000-Now: H-1 (Post college, went independent at 21 years old. Unfortunately (kidding honey) fall in love and married a non citizen but our son who is citizen by birth is turning 3 next month. ^^ )
= 20 years, and counting.....guys. Can't even think about another child or others, what if I get denied and I would need to uproot the whole family.
I used to hate this curse and use this as an excuse for my failures. But my dad said something to me couple years back that, "Even a homeless has citizenship, so is GC really that important?"
I see it as a blessing in disguise now. Your attitude determines your altitude. I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for my "lack of status", someone that can stand through adversity and preservers. Sometimes I see friends that never had any worries for GC/Citizenship and worry about leaving their job or finding new jobs, I just laugh. They have NO idea, how fortunate and how free, they are.
thanks for reading my random rants.
Congrads again~

why did you not apply in the clinton amnesty in 2000
That is the reason EB3 is so retrogressed. All out of status people applied in it
Your father is correct. Even a homeless has citizenship of USA.
You gave too much importance to greencard in life.
|
I was always in legal status, so there was no need for the amnesty.
I certainly did, but not anymore. I am happy and look forward towards life very much.
But still can't deny this "GC" thing is like rock that I am carrying, hopefully soon, I can get the chance and throw it far far away.
