Topic: Card Production Ordered Club. Feel Free to join the club!!
Posted by MrVulcan (1157) 17 Jun 2008
12yrs,

All I can say is that they either screwed up small time, and changed the online status incorrectly and that they do need a new bio for you. This can happen if if the old bio has not expired if the signature, fingerprint and/or photo is not good enough for card production.

Or they screwed up big time and "forgot" to order the card, lost it in the production facility (maybe in something like a paper jam), or it was lost in the mail.

Do what you can to keep at them like call them again, get an infopass etc. If you find the reason and get a I-551 stamp in your passport you can at least relax for a while.....

MrVulcan,

I asked my lawyer about the number of I-797s and she told whatever I got should be sufficient (I got the welcome notice I-797). But she still did not answer my question if I would receive one more I-797 (for Approval notice). Anyway, it doesn't matter now but curious about your case. How many did you get? And what does the Notice Type say in your I-797?

I got 1 I-797 Notice Type: Approval notice. My lawyer also got a copy of this one. I also got a I-797D which is the mailer for the actual Green card.

It seems to me that the Welcome letter is I-797C, but I never got that one, so I am not sure. The normal thing is that you get either Approval notice or Welcome notice/letter, but in the world of USCIS everything is possible.

Since I got an e-mail on the 13th that Approval notice has been "MAILED" I will wait until end of this week to see if I will indeed get such a notice by snail mail. will keep you posted. And I agree w/ you that anything is possible in the world of USCIS. I never got any CPO e-mail from USCIS but have already received the actual card !

I had the H1 extension approved and lawyer received approval notice. The case status still shows pending. USCIS is allergic to computers at times.

MrVulcan,
I have no idea what might have happened. My lawyer is telling me to wait until the end of June. So, I'll probably wait for another 2 weeks before calling them. But I am not concerned about my case/card. I already recieved a Welcome Notice. I don't know where I put it in the house, but it should be around :)

I am more concerned about my wife's. We've been postponing many things just because of that stupid card.

47 days from approval... and still counting...

Did you call USCIS about this? AFAIK, when 30 days has passed and you still haven't received the card, the I-797 will tell you to CONTACT USCIS.

Ok, I just checked the envelope which had my card and the other envelope which had my I-797. The dates on both the envelopes showed June 13th, 2008 and the e-mail from CRIS was on June 13th which said "Approval Notice Sent". So this approval notice is nothing but the welcome notice (I guess a.k.a Approval notice).

The zip code on the envelope that had the card is 40701 and that is Corbin, KY (card production facility) and the zip on the envelope that had the I-797 welcome notice is 75149 and that is Mesquite, TX.

MrVulcan is right. Only ONE notice (I-797C) will be sent and of course the card.

To summarize:

6/11 - Notice sent welcoming the new PR (e-mail)
6/13 - Approval notice sent (e-mail)
6/14 - Soft LUD
6/16 - Received I-797C welcome notice (a.k.a approval notice), I-797D (which had the card in it) and the actual card(I-551).

BTW, my I-797C & I-797D shows the Notice Date as 6/11/2008 and I guess this should have triggered the 6/11 e-mail.

Anyway, its all over.
I wish good luck to the folks waiting for the notice and/or the card !!!

Yes, in my case, I received the card within 7 days but all we got is the welcome notice for my wife. Infopass IO asked us to wait 60 days while Welcome notice says we should receive the card in 3 weeks. 3 weeks has come and gone and we are still waiting. I just KNOW that if we call them, they will give the same old 60 day story. So, we are waiting.

Any of the others above received your card or received an update on what is the holdup?

This is my update, just got the card for myself. Still waiting for the dependent card...

So our approval date was May 13th, I got the card on June 13th (exact 30 days) and my wife is still waiting for hers to come in mail. My lawyer called them and apparently, they said that our FPs were not 'attached' to the I-485 applications and that they (USCIS) was trying to contact the correct authorities to get the FPs, which apparently worked as they got my card without I having to go for biometrics again...

Shall let you know when my wife gets hers...

a2zgc, Congrats. This does give us some ray of hope. I can bet that your wife's card will arrive soon.

Your case was in NSC.

Can you let us know
1. If before receiving the card your status changed to Card Mailed?

2. FPs were not 'attached' to the I-485 applications and that they (USCIS) was trying to contact the correct authorities to get the FPs - When did your lawyer call them? recently?

dimtrack,
Welcome to the Club. Your profile has case filed in Vermont. Was it later transfered to TSC, Texas or NSC, Nebraska?
I'm not sure but what I know that 485 are cases are now being adjudicated from TSC and NSC only.

MrVulcan can let us know if that's true.

Yes, my case status changed to 'Card mailed' on the third day after I got the 'CPO' email from NSC.

My lawyer called them three weeks back and then within few days, I saw the CPO email. My wife had raised an SR on Friday and on Monday I got her CPO email, don't know if it was the SR that triggered it or the lawyer's call.

But one thing worht noting that my lawyer wrote to me- They are working on getting the Cards out to the approved cases, they know they have done some goofups (or more specifically the ASCs that do the biometrics) for attaching the biometrics with the I-485 application. So I think, they are trying hard to clear their new backlog of card production and they cannot do that till ASCs where you did your biometrics do not send them the digital FPs and picture...So I would say it's the ASCs that are the culprits not the Service Centers...

OK. My wife did Call TSC using POJ. Surprise! Surprise! Someone picked up immediately! Even more surprising this person told her that an Officer is reviewing her case as they speak! Well not sure why an officer needs to review an already approved case. Anyway, the IO asked my wife when she had done the biometrics. Since this was done last September, it should still be valid. The IO told her that she should receiving the card within 6 days! Have not yet received CPO email for her yet nor has the online status changed. Let us see if we will get the CPO soon and the card some time next week.

If we do not see an update by next week, we will call again. Will keep everyone updated.

In my case and some others from TSC after CPO.... when will we receive the card becomes like a Double Jeopardy question for which there is no answer.

OK, My turn to start worrying .................................

I got my 485 approval email on 6/11 and by snail mail on 6/16. I havent received any email regarding CPO or welcome yet. The online status also shows 'approval notice sent", thats it, no change. No card seen so far. So should I start worrying?

My case number starts with SRC as was originally submitted to TSC but has been approved from NSC after transfer. So which service center should I think it belongs to for issuing or sending the GC.

Actually my wife needs to change jobs as her bosses grant is ending soon, and as the employers want to see physical card thats the reason for me to ask this question.

One minor thing as sson as the GC is approved, does it mean that mine or my wifes' H1B gets invalid for job move or travel?

Thanks

Maybe you do not need to worry and the cards will show up in mail soon. But wherever there are handoffs between Centers, like ours where I-485 was receipted at CSC (with receipt numbers starting with WAC instead of LIN) and then our files were sent back to NSC for adjudication, there are chances that the biometrics get sent to the wrong center by ASC. This is exactly what happened in our case too, got Approval Notices email/smail mails and then no CPO, till we raised an SR and also asked lawyer to speak with them just to find out that our biometrics were not 'attached' to I-485 applications and hence no CPO...

They then went on a search mission to find our biometrics and eventually we got our CPO emails ( I got my card, and are awaiting the card for my wife now)...

They ususally won't do anything till 30 days to raise an SR but you can try your lawyer route if you do not get your cards within 10 days...

Yes, your H1B status is void once 485 is approved. It will not show online status but within their internal system it's void and that's why it's called Aos, adjustment of status. Once 485 is approved you are PR, permanent resident
