I have had everything approved and was waiting for NC to complete. When I got home tonight there was an appointment notice to get my fingerprints taken again next week as those on file had expired. This is the first sign of any activity since my last soft LUD on 2/19/2007. Does anyone have an outline of what typically happens next for someone in my situation?

I-140 Approved: Feb 2006
I-485 transfer to local office 16 Jan 2007
3rd EAD: 19 Jan 2008
3rd AP: 22 Nov 2007
Last time I called uscis (May 19th) I was told to call again in 30 days and they would (as usual) give no information on my case status. As far as I know my NC is still pending, but based on the recent memos that should not matter or it should be completed.

Last calls and reading gave me one thing: FP (biometrics) info is stored separately from the 'main' case - they have separate databases. What could happen (and it did happen in my case) is that person in charge 'forgot' to 'attach' record from FP database to your file. What usually happens in such situation: you 485 case had been 'assigned to an officer', but an officer couldn't find you biometrics (see above) and moved your case 'for extended review' (or any other reason they imagine, but case will be moved back to a shelf :() After some time, your case get back to an officer, but because FP still not 'attached', it goes back on a shelf :( THAT is odd and weird :( I had found this issue after my case was pending for 6 month, and they still can't resolve this 'puzzle' (WTF?) To be sure, call the service center, and if they ask 'If you would like to know your application status ...', say 'NO!, I know the status of my application, but I'm concerning about my FP (biometrics)' - they will follow you, believe me. In your case they sent you another notice because FP really expired (FP valid for 15 month). Please, don't relax. After you FP-ing, wait for at least 2 weeks and call them back just to be sure your new FP is 'attached' to your file, otherwise you could end waiting another 100 years :(
Yeah, I'm waiting for my second FP appointment (old one will expire 6/23) and I certainly WILL call them to be sure they had attached it fto my file :(

Thanks for info Goblin. Nothing surprises me too much these days with uscis. I still get really stressed at times but mostly I can just go with the flow now. I'll set up an Infopass for just after my FP appointment and see if there is anything new they can tell me - although I doubt it.

Man! Don't be stressed! Get a life! You will get GC eventually (hope your are not a criminal, otherwise why had you file all these LC/140/485 and other stuff) :)) I don't think you'll get anything useful from InfoPass, except out-of-job-commute :) But who knows :) |
