Topic: Service Request laws
Posted by sabre0 (41) 24 Jun 2008
Is there a rule that says that since I called last week to check the status of my I485 application, I cannot start a service request until 60 days have gone by since my last call?

Sounds quite ridiculous but that's what my lawyer is telling me when I asked her to start an SR for me.

Your lawyer is just trying to avoid doing excessive work on your case and trying to spread the workload out for the different cases your lawyer is probably handling. There is no law which says you can't call the uscis everyday and ask to get a SR opened. However, USCIS logs each call on your case and if an SR was opened then they will tell you to wait for at least 60 days before calling again. If your first call did not generate an SR then you can call anytime and ask for an SR to be opened.

Logs each call made to Customer Service or to IO?
