Topic: A quick questions, please help
I have applied for my EAD adn my family's EAD together to TSC. Earlier there wer RFE's (photocopy front and back of the last EAD card) for my son and wife, which we sent. Now, today they are showing that my son's EAD card production is ordered and for the rest of us, the status shows "case is pending".
What are the possibilities that they have not updated my information as I assume that my son's EAD will be approved only after mine is approved. Am I right to think so.
Or is there a possibility that mine is pending and my son's is approved.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

EAD approval doesn't depend on whether the applicant is primary or dependent. It is purely based on the pending I-485 application.(Remember the secion 16 in your EAD application).
S..
|
Yes, it is based on our pending I485. My son is 10 years old and I am the primary applicant.
|
Just out of curiosity - why you applied for EAD for 10-years old son? Are you going to send him to work???
|
Nowadays people has lot of money to throw away.
|
May be for SSN and tax filing and
THE STIMULUS CHECK ... hahaha
|
if you have applied EAD for your 10 yr old son, get a SSN if you don't have one, it will help with registering for various activities in school, smart move even if it costs $340 these days it outweighs all the hassles for trying to get a SSN. your kid will atleast have a longer trackable credit history as he grows up.

100% agree
I filed EAD for my two kids, at that time 14 & 17.
|
yes everyone should definitely think of the kids and their future instead of couple of hundered dollars
|
How can you build a credit history at 10?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The kid cannot be prosecuted in court if he defaults on this CC payments. Thus, he is not allowed to enter into a legal contract at that age. The minimum age for most credit cards is 16.
you can only be an authorized user at this age. This EAD is a waste of money and shows serious lack of common sense.

Who knows...maybe their kids are working as actors in Hollywood...
you see, there are sense in doing it...if you think, it's non-sense to you, then it is but it makes sense to others...like getting SSN and stimulus check, school benefits, etc.
Having only ITIN makes one a second-class citizen in this country, why not make your child a first-class citizen by giving him a SSN?

This is from the Social Security Site -
If your child does not have permission to work: Lawfully admitted noncitizens can get many benefits and services without a Social Security number. You do not need a number to conduct business with a bank, register for school, apply for educational tests, obtain private health insurance, apply for school lunch programs or apply for subsidized housing. You cannot get a Social Security number for the sole purpose of obtaining a driver’s license.
Government benefits or services: If your child does not have permission to work, the child may apply for a Social Security number only if:
* A federal law requires your child to provide a Social Security number to get a particular benefit or service; or
* A state or local law requires you to provide your Social Security number to get general assistance benefits that you already have qualified for.
If your child needs a number to meet these state or local requirements, you must bring us a letter from the government agency. It must be on letterhead stationery (no form letters or photocopies) and:
* Specifically identify your child as the applicant;
* Cite the law requiring your child to have a Social Security number;
* Indicate that your child meets all the agency’s requirements, except having the number; and
* Contain an agency contact name and telephone number.

the earlier you get SSN the better it is in terms of SS and MC, plus there are many places where they will ask for a social secutiry for the kid, not only it becomes helpful when the kid starts goint to college, in terms of fees, fellowships etc. even if you kid becomes 16 and can work they will still need ssn to work. though there are always ways but still one should not take undue risk
