Topic: Is there a clash if i apply for both my US and Canada GC?
Posted by allaboutgc (23) 19 Sep 2007
Hi All
I recently applied for my Canadian PR and am at a stage where all my documents have been accepted and was asked to take the medical test.

Also, simulataneously, i have a 485 application (US Green Card) that is being processed by the USCIS.

Would any one you see a reason for any of these applications to clash? Would i be stopped or questioned by either the Canadian Immigration or by the US Immigration on my way in or out of Canada or US?

Can this situation be used as grounds for rejecting my application (Either the Canadian or US application)?

I would greatly appreciate if someone who is in the same or simialr situation can share their experience and or thoughts on this topic.

Thanks!

this is just a thought and I am not a lawyer ,so you have to verify with your own lawyer .
I have two friends who had applied both simultaniously, both have right of landing in canada and one of them got his gc last year ,other person is still waiting for gc.I think since they are seperate country their paperwork is not interlinked ,but it is worth taking advise from lawyer,

it is perfectly fine to apply both PR status in CAn and US. (I actually did the same and both applications are pending.)
If you want more info, go to this: http://www.immigrationportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50

There are a few very knowledge person who went thru both steps and obtained the both PR status at the same time. But when time comes, you will still need to decide where do you want to stay premanetly

IMHO.
you can not be both at the same time, but you can apply for both. if you get approved for both then take your pick. You have to reside in one or the other. If you were a citizen of one you could reside in the other with out any trouble.
Just my 2 cents worth.
