Our PD is October 2002, and I-485 was filed in September '04. When our PD was current in June this year, we were told our case is pending name check clearance since November '05. We had an appointment with IO and he told us this and said there is no resolution time for it. Is is true that we really cannot take any action and know when our name check could be cleared. People who applied way after us have got their GCs. How long do we have to wait? Where can we get an answer to the name check clearance? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

I feel sorry for ur delay in GC. If ur NC is being delayed , you need to roll up sleeves and stand up against USCIS by writing to FBI (thru senator)..Go thru' the link http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=214587 which is self explanatory.
Good Luck

Do not give up, your turn will come!
I was stuck in NC for a while - I am not sure what got me out of it but writing to the First Lady triggered a reply from the FBI and shortly afterwards my NC was cleared.
So I will try that - if you get a reply from the FBI, even if it says "in process" like mine, you can always use it for your WoM lawsuit ;-)

I am also stuck in name check hell. Now, it is nearly seven months stuck in name check. I have written to senators and congressman in my state, to the FBI, and the ombudsman, but no word from anyone. I recently met an immigration lawyer, who is also a law professor. He told none of these will have any impact and they will just send me stock letter. Another immigrant professor told me the story of Indian architect stuck in NC for 4 years because he had travelled to sensitive countries. I have basically given up at this stage. The frequency with which I visit this website and the uscis website has declined. Just working and hoping to stay afloat thats all.
