2. I am travelling outside US via London (Heathrow airport), changing flights in same terminal. Got I551 stamped (valid for 60 days) on my passport . Do they require transit visa for me ?
|
As far i checked recently, NO, you can check it on british consulte's web site under visa requirements.
You have a valid US stamp on your passport, so you dont need the visa.
If you would be travelling on AP then you would need it.

Hi eddy
You should see the card with in 10 days of card production ordered even though the they say it may take 30 days
You do not need a transit VISA for London as you have valid green card or US VISA stamping in your passport

Seems like thyramax and me are on the same boat. BTW, where are you located at ?
Also, I went to britainusa.com and found following information:-
=================================================================
DATV EXEMPTIONS:
Certain exemptions to this requirement have been introduced and apply to all DATV nationals. The following categories of traveller are not required to hold a DATV and may still benefit from the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) concession.
YOU ARE EXEMPT IF:
You are travelling FROM the US with a valid US visa and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom to another country; or
You are travelling TO the US from another country and hold a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom and a valid US visa; or
You last entered the US with a valid US visa which has now expired but you hold a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom to another country and you are intending to transit the United Kingdom within 6 months of your last date of entry to the US; or
You have a valid US I - 551 Permanent Residence Card (Green Card) issued on or after 21 April 1998 (but see Note 1 and 2 below); or
You have a valid US Immigrant Visa packet (form 155A / 155B); or
You have an expired I - 551 Permanent Residence Card (issued on or after 21 April 1998) and a valid I-797 letter issued by the Bureau of Citizenship authorising its extension (but see Note 1 and 2 below); or
You have a valid Canadian Permanent Residence Card issued on or after 28 June 2002; or
You have a valid common format Category D visa issued by EU/EEA member states; or
You have a valid common format EU residence permit issued under Council Regulation (EC) No 1030/2002;
You hold a diplomatic or a service passport issued by the People's Republic of China; or
You hold a diplomatic or an official passport issued by the government of India; or
You hold a diplomatic or an official passport issued by the government of Vietnam.
====================================
Note:
Holding an I-512 Parole letter or an I-797C (Notice of Action) instead of a valid US visa; or a Transportation Letter instead of a valid US Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 21 April 1998 or a U.S. Visa Foil endorsed, "NOT A VISA. FOIL PREPARED AT DHS REQUEST" does NOT qualify you for exemption from the DAT visa requirement.
Holding a valid travel document with an ADIT stamp - worded "PROCESSED FOR I-551. TEMPORARY EVIDENCE OF LAWFUL ADMISSION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE VALID UNTIL ......EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZED" - does NOT qualify you for exemption from the DAT visa requirement.
Whether holders of non-national (including refugee travel documents) require a DATV depends on their nationality and whether they qualify for one of the exemptions listed above. So, for instance, the holder of a non-national travel document (eg. a refugee travel document) who is a national or a citizen of one of the countries listed on the DATV list (eg. Afghanistan) will require a direct airside transit visa if they are travelling to the UK to transit onto a third country.
========================================
Seems like even with I-551 on passport (not travel document), I need to get transit visa ( see NOTE). BTW, what is travel document ? I will not have travel document. Instead, in my passport stamp, it is mentioned following information:-
Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residency.
Issue date: 5/9/2008
Officer:
Employment authorized
Valid until: 7/8/2008
Is this visa ?? It's just stamp on passport, right ?? NOT a visa right ?
Do you guys know if AP has I-551 stamp on travel document ?

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but anyway.
I am wondering if anything needs to be done once i485 is approved but renewal of EAD/AP is pending? Any left over process?
Do we need to inform our employer (H1B/Green Card sponsor) about this i485 approval?
thanks,

Eddy, do not worry at all..just check with your lawfirm also in case they received it..because some people in this forum had similar experience..you can also check with USCIS whether they have your right address..did you get the approval/welcome notice...if so there is nothing to worry..

May 14 - Card Received.
Looks like the card went to HR and they sent it to me. I do see a stamp in the approval notice 05/08 11:04 Received. Not sure if it is from the ParaLegal or the USCIS.
It took them so long to send me the card. Meanwhile, some other paralegal has sent the EAD and AP renewal just yesterday. Talk about communication.
|
Right, I have been checking with my company if they received it or not. But, I got I765 denial notice on my home address which mentions that since they approved my I485, I765 is no longer required. Thanks for your input great1976.
|
Thank you Eddy. I was so restless till I got it. Actually I was more worried, as I never got my 485 Receipt notice. I was worried that this Card would also go to neverland. Thank God I got it. I will pray that you will get yours soon.
On a side note, I am still waiting for my Spouse approval. Think the journey continues.
Check your 485 Copy, check the address under Part 1 Address section. The card would be sent only to this Address.
My company files 485 with their offical address, while EAD and AP are filed with my Home address.
I am happy for thyramax.

I never got the CPO email or even the welcome email, I just have the Approval Notice Sent email. Is that something I need to call USCIS about?
|
Received in my office ....
Finally, it arrived at my office. Today, I called TSC and asked where has it been mailed. Talked to IO directly. She told the office address. Then, I called office and told the incident and about my talk with IO. After 5 minutes, they told that they received it and are sending it to me via Fedex today. It is Desi company. Were they doing it intentionally ? Otherwise, they should have told me right ?
What's your view

thank u luv4usa...so what is the basic difference between E11 and E16. ?

hey guys,
i received "notice welocme" email on 5/2,.
recieved welocme and approval notice in mail box on 5/12 (but not the attorney)
however, till today, two weeks later and counting, i didnot receive the gc in the mail box...any one in the same boat?!!!
|
I noticed that TSC's GC seems to arrive later than those sent from NSC.
Just my observation in this thread.
|
Hi Kosu,
I have same dates like yours, but NSC...have u recieved the actual card yet?...
Thanks
|
Friends,
After getting the GC we are planning to do a trip to India and I will comeback in 2-3 weeks time and my wife may stay there for 1 more month. Is it OK to stay like 45-60 days and comeback, or would they ask any explanation for this stay at the port of entry. Is there any legally allotted timeframe for GC holders to stay outside US.? Please advice.
You can stay out of the US for up to 6 months with no consequence, as long as the person has a vaild green card and passport. Over 6 months contact with the US consulate is needed and the green card holder can stay out of the country for up to a year. Over a year the green card holder will forfeit their green card and not be allowed to re-enter the country.
The US permanent resident CAN stay out of the country for more than a year if they apply for and are granted a re-entry permit by USCIS prior to leaving the country. However, for a PR to become a citizen, he/she must have 5 years of continuous residency and staying abroad for more than a year will typically break it regardless of whether a re-entry permit is issued/used.
