Topic: Physical Card and Card approval copies tracker
TSC
05/09: Welcome email
05/11: Card Production email
05/12: Approval email
05/16: card & welcome notice received in mailbox
|
After going through this thread what I learnt is people are reciving emails/mail in the following sequence
1) Cards ordered email
2) Welcome email/letter
3) Approval notice
4) Physical cards in the mail.
But I got approval email first and physical copy of I-485 approval notice in regular mail but never got "Card Ordered" or "Welcome"emails. Just wondering is any one else in the same boat. How long will take to get physical cards after receiving the approval notice in regular mail?
Here is my sequence.
05/07/08 Received an email saying "mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS"
05/08/08 soft LUD
05/12/08 Recived I-485 Approval notice in US mail.
05/15/08 soft LUD.

Waiting for the approval notice and will update this post once it arrives.

Are you also from NSC? Please email if you recd anything other than Apporoval Notice, looks like they forgot to order cards for me and looks like for you too...

Hi Guys,
I need some help/info on my case: Here are the details of emails, I received. Still waiting for physical cards.
TSC for primary & dependent applicants.
05/14/08: Card production email (for myself and spouse)
05/14/08 : Approval Notice Email (for my 8 year old son)
05/14/08: Welcomel notice mailed email (for myself and spouse)
05/19/08: Welcome notice received in the Postal mail (for myself and spouse)
05/19/08: Approval Notice received in the Postal mail (for my 8 year old son), it says Notice Type= Approval Notice
and also states that you wll receive a letter asking for biometrics (photo/fingerprinting/signature) and after you complete this , within next 90 days your card will be mailed?
My son was never asked for FP/Biometrics when we were first called, so not sure what's going on?
Anyone share similar experiences or guide as to what it means?
Is it normal not to receive Welcome Notice email for my son?
Thanks
Wheregc
|
Same case with me and my wife, we recd Approval notices today in mail, and it is saying that we *may* need biometrics and we should hear about it or the actual card in the next 90 days...
|
TSC
5/13/2008 - "Card Production Ordered" email received
5/16/2008 - "Approval notice sent" email received
5/16/2008 - Approval notice received in mail
5/19/2008 - Cards received in mail
|
Hi,
But for my case the "approval notice and biometrics" thing happend only for my son who is 8 year old?
Not for me and my wife, I received all 3 notices (2 Welcome Notice (me and my spouse) and one approval notice for my son)
So not sure how others are getting?
Thanks
Wheregc.

Hi ptxt,
Which part of US do you live in?Just curious to know coz you have recd. your actual GC in literally 4 business days.I'm still waiting for any kinda USCIS mail in my mailbox. After May 15th,there's been no mail/emails at all.Wondering how long it takes USCIS mails to reach CA.Thanks.
|
sssfo - I live in Dallas, TX. I was not expecting the cards till later this week, but God willing, got them yesterday.
|
How do we know when the physical cards have been mailed by the USCIS? Does "Approval notice sent" email imply that the physical cards are in the mail?
Thanks,
|
Common man, you yourself mentioned that your son never got finger printed in first place , so him getting the FP requirement sounds very logical, it's so straight forward...Since you guys (you and your wife) had already taken the biometrics earlier, they had it on their records...
|
How do we know when the physical cards have been mailed by the USCIS? Does "Approval notice sent" email imply that the physical cards are in the mail?
Thanks,
You will get a email saying "Aproval notice mailed" What they really mean is the card . Do not confuse with the "welcome notice mailed" email. It means they mailed the I797C
|
No that's not the case- Approval Notice mailed and welcome notice mailed are two seperate things. See following scenarios:
1) A person gets CPO(Card Production Ordered)/Welcome Notice/Approval Notice EMAILS- He/she will get the physical GC cards and the Welcome Notice paper that mentioned 'Wecome to US as Permanent Residents'. They shall not get anything more like another approval notice even when they got the third email stating so...
2) A person like me, who only got the 'Approval Notice sent' email and no other emai. He/she will get a letter (I797C) stating that the applications to adjust to Permanent Resident Status is approved but you *may* get a biometrics (Fingerprints) notice. It does not automatically mean that they shall order the cards. It may eventually lead to the person getting the cards directly w/o having to go through biometrics but doesn't mean they won't have to do biometrics before they actually get the cards, either...
Hope this clarifies the things a bit more...
|
a2zgc,
Same thing here. It says
"The above application has been approved. Prior to receiving your permanent resident card you may be required to report for biometrics processing. please do not take any action at this time. If you are required to report for processing , you will recive another notice advising you of the date and time and location to appear."
But I had my biometrics (CODE 3) some time in March 2008.

I have filed I140/485 ( concurrent) for self and my family in Texas srvc cntr. My PD is May 2004. My family is in India. Is it going to be any problem for I485 status. Do all the family members has to be here for adj of status. FP is done for all of us in Dec 2007. .
|
Hi byerabati,
I think you can get better answers /attention if you open this as a separated thread.
People visiting this topic already have green card and might care less about your problem.
(I think you should call USCIS or make an Infopass appointment to find out what's going on.)
Good luck.

The reason i posted in this thread is - May be some one out there who are in simillar boat.Just wanted ot know.

Hi byerabati,
I think posting it in a new thread will achieve your goal better...of course, good luck in getting feedbacks.

As long as they are going to come back with in the stipulated time mentioned in the parole ( I thing less than one year) yoy are OK. They do not have to be in US when the I485 is approved. Based on your profile your case may be current only from July ( If EB2 India moves as it is doing for the past 2 months).

Hi a2gc,Thanks for your clarification and explanation. In my case #1 (above) is applicable to myself and my wife have
and #2 (above) for my son. The reason I don't understand since my son is only 8 yr old and per USCIS law kids under 14 year of age don't require biometrics?
So I am not sure if this law has changed?
Here is my sequnce:
05/14/08: Card production email (for myself and spouse)
05/14/08 : Approval Notice Email (for my 8 year old son)
05/14/08: Welcomel notice mailed email (for myself and spouse)
05/19/08: Welcome notice received in the Postal mail (for myself and spouse)
05/19/08: Approval Notice received in the Postal mail (for my 8 year old son),
05/21/08: Card Received for myself and spouce
My son case still has LUD=5/15 and no card received for him. Will call USCIS tomorrow to find out more about it as what is the next step for my son.
Your thoughts?
Thanks

5/19 Approval Notice sent e-mail
5/19 Welcome notice received in mail (only dependent)
5/22 Docment mailed to applicant- e-mail (primary only)???
5/22 Card Received (only dependent)
5/27 Welcome notice received (primary)- the document has older address. it probably was returned by USPS to TSC and they mailed it back on 5/22 to current address (hence LUD and 'document mailed' e-mail).
5/27 Attorney received approval notice for primary.
Still waiting for primary card. It seems it was also sent back by USPS (due to wrong address by CIS). I hope CIS can now send it to me to the current address on their file. I called CSR about two months ago and they confirmed they have the current address in the system.

Got the card finally.
05/20 Welcome Notice Sent email for primary and dependents
05/20 Card Production Ordered for primary and dependents
05/24 Received Welcome Notice for primary and dependents
05/27 Received Physical Cards for primary and dependents

I am in a similar but a bit stranger case. My wife received her welcome notice and green card. I received my approval notice that states biometrics *may* be required (similar to your son's case). I had my first biometrics (code 3) appointment on 02/02/2008. Then I had my second biometrics (code 1) appointment on 03/07/2008 because FBI was unable to process my fingerprint card. And now, my application is again delayed, very likely due to biometrics again. On the other hand, my wife only had one biometrics appointment and received her green card already.

5/22 Welcome notice email received (both)
5/23 Card production ordered email (Primar)
5/29 Approval notice sent email (Primary)
5/30 Welcome notice received in mail (Both)
5/31 Physical card received (Primary)
Waiting for card for dependent.....
The Welcome notice is identical for primary and dependent stating that we should receive the physical card in 3 weeks. There is no mention of needing additional biometrics. However, as you can see above only I (primary) have received the card so far while my wife (dependent) has not even received the card production ordered email even after 10 days after the welcome notice email!
Do not know why hers is held up. I will try to call them today. Also, we have an Infopass appointment tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? BTW, ours was processed at TSC.
|
Arihant,
Only I (Primary) received the approval notice and the card. My wife (Dependant) and I received a biometrics appointment letter.
My prints were taken on May 20, 2008, so I do not have to do it again. My wife has not got any approval/welcome notification yet.
There was a glitch in their system and some people got duplicate FP notices with different dates. Call the USCIS to clarify.
|
Hi hijkl,
How did you find out it has been returned to TSC and then forwarded by TSC to new address?
I got my card and my wife's is still pending more than three weeks.
Is there any way to find out where my wife's physical was sent out and when?
Please help me out here.
|

In our case, both of us received the welcome notice. Our Welcome notice has no mention of biometrics. It simply says if we do not receive the card in 3 weeks, we should contact them.
I tried the following sequence:
18003755283, 1,2,1 (approved or denied or recent permanent resident),1(recent permanent resident),4(more than 30 days since welcome notice but no card). At this point all it gives me is an automated notice of what is visible to me online.
How did you reach them? Did you use the POJ method? I did not try the POJ method because for that I have to go through the following sequece
18003755283,1,2,2... (this is for when a case is still pending and technically our case is not pending anymore)

Hi Raja2008,
I got e-mails for card production and welcome notice for both of us at the same time. However, my wife received her welcome notice and card within a week time frame. I did not.
Then my case got LUDs for new document mailed and card mailed. When I received my welcome notice and card, I noticed old address on both items. This indicated that they were earlier sent to old address and returned to TSC.
Did you receive card production ordered e-mail for your wife? Have you changed your address after filing I-485? I would say call CSR even if it is not 30 days.
|
Here are my Details
1. Approval Date : 22 May 2008
2. Actual approval Notice Received (in mail) : 27 May 2008
3. Approval email : 28 May 2008
4 Physical Card Recevied (for both myself and dependents) : 31 May 2008.
No Card Production order email till date.
Hope this helps.
|
hijkl,
Yes, I received card production ordered e-mail for my wife and she also got her welcome notice in mail to the changed address.
Yes, she changed her address after filing I-485. Would that impact?
|
Raja,
In this case, call CIS and tell them that she has not received the card. Ask them about the current address on file with them. I understand they have new address on file (since welcome notice has new address on it and it was sent to the correct address). However, I have seen CIS mixing these things.
Sometime back, one of my document from CIS had new address on the insert but it was sent to the old address. Luckily, it was forwarded by USPS. Not the same case with GC.
Any more LUDs on your wife's case after CPO and welcome/approval e-mails? That would be an indication of returned card.
|
If you do not receive your card within 1 week of card mailed e-mail, do make an infopass appointment and verify the address on file. Here's what happened to my case:
Approved from TSC:
Card production orderd e-mail: May 12 (primary + spouse)
Welcome notice mailed e-mail: May 13 (primary + spouse)
Card mailed e-mail: May 16 (primary + spouse)
Document mailed e-mail: May 22 (primary only)
Actual documents received--
Welcome notice received: May 19 (spouse only) - post marked May15
Card received : May 19 (spouse only) - post marked May 15
Note that it took just 4 days (including a weekend) for the spouse card to reach us in NH from Texas.
We have moved since we filed the application last year and we had submitted an electronic AR-11 in Oct 07 for our then pending I-485, EAD, and I-131 applications, and had received confirmation from the USCIS for each reciept number.
Since primary applicant did not receive the physical card (It's June 3), we called the 1800 number to verify address on file. Customer service rep could not tell us anything useful, other that what we already know from case-status on-line.
At the Infopass appointment today, the officer scanned my receipt and told me that the address on file was different from the AR-11 submitted in Oct 07. When she read it to me, it wasn't even my old address!
I showed her the address change confirmation print-outs from the previously filed AR-11 for I-485, EAD and I-131. Her comments - " We have a really ancient computer system, and things get mixed up"
She also said that the primary greencard was mailed on May 16, and returned to TSC on May22 as undeliverable, and then re-delivered to the same address (wrong one!) on file. She had us fill out an AR-11 on the spot and mentioned that she will e-mail TSC to expedite re-sending the card. She also mentioned that we should make another infopass appointment if the card do not arrive in two weeks.
Will wait and see.

Hi,
If I am not mistaken, in all your cases (raja2008, chomp2, etc.) you had changed your address after filing 485 and the cards were sent to the wrong address. Well, we have not changed our address in over 5 years before we even started the entire green card process!
Well in my wife's case, we did not even get the 'card production ordered' email even though the physical welcome notice says we should get the card in 3 weeks. So, it seems like the card was not even ordered for my wife while I already got the card. Also, in case RogerFederer's wife, I think she received a Biometrics notice. We have no mention of biometrics in my wife's Welcome Notice, nor have we received any biometrics notice so far.
So, It seems like they simply forgot to order cards for her! Of course, I am unable to extract any info by calling them because it has not been 3 weeks yet! They are not even researching our particular case! Let us see if we get the same 3 weeks run around at Infopass today or if, at least they will research on what has really happened! As usual I am going with minimal expectation on learning anything useful.
|
Arihant,
I never changed my address, yet no info on my wife's status except for a FP notice for tomorrow.
