I am still thinking of getting immigrant stamping in passport (atleast for the first year). Even though it expires in 1 year, in future, it will be a safer evidence connecting my passport and greencard

there is just ONE green paper notice and in your case it is the Welcome notice (I-797C). So I don't think you need to wait for another Approval notice. The same thing happened in my case ie., I received the Approval notice e-mail and no hard copy. But I got the card and I-797C welcome notice. May be the approval notice goes to the lawyer???

why do you want to get the stamping?

"why do you want to get the I-551 stamping?"
Additional safer evidence connecting my passport and greencard. Worst case Scenario if Greencard is misplaced (or) stolen, atleast your passport stamping (I-551 stamping) has a proof that you had a greencard. I know I-551 stamping will expire in a year but atleast stamping once is safer (holds greencard record in your passport forever)

Called the customer service number, and got connected to officer Laurie at TSC. - She said that my card was returned as undeliverable, and then re-mailed on June 16. Hope they get the correct address this time!!

If it has been 15 days since the card was produced and mailed, do verify that they have the correct address.

My card was returned to the USCIS as undeliverable, and I am still waiting for it. I did fill out a change of address request for my I-485 in october and had gotten a written confirmation. However, I found out from an infopass appointment that the greencard was mailed to an address that was neither my current, nor previous address. It appears that their computers messed up, and linked my card to some random address.

Scared of TSC. They had sent my RFE to previous address ( although previously they have gave me written acknowledgement
of my current address ). We used the RFE 'opportunity' to correct the address again ( the RFE has a golden yellow cover letter with space for change of address ) . I hope the cards come to my current address. Will USPS forward cards to new address ? ( RFE got forwarded ).

Guys, I am setting up an InfoPass appointment to inquire of the card and get my passport stamped. Is it called I-551 stamp or something else?

In regards to address, I am dead sure they have my address because I received my I-485, Bio Fingerprint, and Welcome Notice delivered to my home address. I haven't change address PRIOR to submitting my green card application (PERM, etc.).

I received my I485 fingerprint appointment at my current address too. However, they managed to send my card to an address that I never lived at.

This is what happened to me, when I tried to verify my address. The USCIS is not supposed to tell people the address on file, but if you tell them your address, they can confirm if that's the address they have on file.

1. Called the 1800 number to "update" my address after I got the "card returned as un-deliverable" e-mail - I read the customer rep my address, and she said that was already on file. -- Opened a SR to investigate, told to check back in 30 days.
2. Called 1800 number, talked to TSC officer - The address she pulled up was the same as what I have.
3. Went to infopass two days ago - The address they pulled up was neither my current, nor previous address.

Today, I recieved a package from the attorney - It was my welcome notice, mailed to an address not associated with me that was returned as undeliverable, and then forwarded to the attorney. According to my attorney, when a package is returned as undeliverable, the USCIS is supposed to notify the attorney (specified on the G-28 form) that a document was returned. --- This did not happen, however the USCIS forwarded my welcome notice to them.

The USPS is not supposed to forward any mail from the USCIS, but sometimes things can get forwarded by mistake (by the USPS).

So one MUST do InfoPass VISIT in order to verify the address is correct?! Judging by your experience, even calling the 1-800 number doesn't do anything as they pull out the correct address, but with InfoPass visit yield different address.

I am a bit ticked off now with the way TSC capture the address for sending the card. Even more, just heard from my friend he received his card (NSC) yesterday (06/20), and the CPO is dated 06/12. WTH, man!

I looked at my I-485 approval and it said "..contact...after 90 DAYS". So I have to wait 3 months to find out TSC (or USCIS) have the wrong address, correct it, and then wait another 90 days?

I wish my company will do audit work for USCIS (we audited Dept. of Homeland Security) and I'll be sure to report the above as "Significantly High Risk finding".

Wait, USCIS SENT an EMAIL if the card is undeliverable? When you received the email, did you see the same Status Message in USCIS Website (Online Case check)?

I have NOT signed up with the email notifications sicne I got my approval in less than 4 months, but I want to received the email to check if the card was returned as undeliveable (wrong address).

My timeline so far
============
[06/16/2008] - [ Email ] Card production ordered
[06/16/2008] - [ Email ] Notice welcoming permanent residence
[06/16/2008] - [ Email ] Card production ordered ( second time ! )
[06/17/2008] - Soft LUD
[06/19/2008] - [ Email ] Approval notice sent
[06/20/2008] - [ Snail mail - total 4 . All dated june 16, 2008 ] Notice welcoming permanent resident
for both me and spouse

I was excited when i saw the four envelopes from USCIS , i thought "cards are there
too" . The joke is that 3 of them turned out to be duplicate Welcome notices for my spouse !
I think TSC is really welcoming my spouse to USA as a permanent resident . You know
sometimes you repeat the same stuff 3 times it gets some 'power' .
Now, to look for the actual card.

Can i take the 'Welcome' notice to Infopass and get I-551 stamp, in case any urgent travel is
coming ?

Update on my case. Finally received my card. The mailer has a sticker with my correct address, over the address that the USCIS sent to 2 times! I don't know what to feel - Now that I finally received the card, I noticed that they made a mistake and put in a wrong birthdate!!!

I will have to call the USCIS on Monday to find out what I have to do to get the mistake corrected. Any suggestions?

Thank you Mehere.

The online status changed to "Card Mailed". For my case, it was worthwhile to go to the infopass appointment - It was then when I found out that the USCIS linked my card to a wrong address.

However, I am not done yet. They made a mistake with my birthdate, and I will have to call them on Monday to see what I need to do.

Congrats, dude! You're the FIRST one from TSC that I know that received the card! Well at least from this board!

Looking at your stats, it took more than a month to receive your card, but probably about 1 week is spent for USPS shuttling your card back to USCIS due to the wrong address.

The "card mailed" message, did you see that BEFORE receiving the card? Was that the indication why you made the InfoPass appointment since the card was mailed but you didnt receive it? I just want to make some analysis here on whether my card was also "lost".

Yes, I went to infopass after waiting for more than 2 weeks after the "card mailed" message. Especially, since my spouse received the card 4 days after the "card mailed" message.

It's not over for me though. The card has a mistake - wrong birthdate, and I probably have to return it. =(

chomp2, sorry to hear about the mistake on you card... well the good thing is you got it and I think you have to fill a form for corrections. I hope you will scan back and front, make copies of the card you received with incorrect DOB...as a back up proof before you send it back. My 2 cents.
I'm curious if they are delying the card to be sent..are the reviewing the approved case? Where can be the hold up?
I dont get it.

At least it give me some peace of mind that when the Online Case changed to "Card Mailed", I will know if the card get lost if I don't receive it in 2 weeks. I said "some" peace of mind, because it has been so long and the status still shows "Card Production Ordered" since May 28.

Actually, I already made InfoPass appointment for next month, about 1 week after I pass the 30 days mark of "Card Production Ordered" status. I'll just show the IO the printout from USCIS Online Case that say "...if you have not received the card in 30 days, contact ...."

He told me that he is sending a note to their IT dept. and in all possibility they shoudl be abel to track my bio and link it with my 485 approval and that will trigger the CPO. otherwise I may be asked to do biometrics again at the ASC.
Hope it works out. will keep u guys posted if I see any change in LUD or any new notice come up.

When you said you call NSC, is it the Nebraska Svc Center? I thought your case is from TSC.

If not, what was the number that you call and what options did you press to talk to the IO?

texasniw,

My wife got a similar response from TSC IO today. All he would say is that they could not locate her biometrics and if they cannot locate it within the next 30-45 days they would send her a new biometrics notice and she would have to go through it again.

texandude, FYI, our case was filed at TSC and remained at TSC. So, our receipts all start with SRC.

Why can't they locate the biometrics ?! It should be in the computer , indexed by Alien number ?

Well my case was filed at TSC but was transferred to NSC and approved from there. I am guessing of 2-3 different reasons for them not have my biometrics info as it must be linked with my NIW case where as I got approved as EB1 after interlinking.
It could be beause of case transfers my BIO notice was from TSC and now NSC is involved.
I had 2 different alien numbers assigned, though they recently consolidated them ( just 3 weeks prior to approval), may be not completely and thus info from Biometrics is stil buried there but not visible from top.
Well these are just my guesses to keep myself happy> As long as they track my BIO, and don't ask me for fingerprinting again!

texaniw and texandude,

We went through the same trouble where NSC said our biometrics were not 'attached' to our I-485 applications. We had received our Approval notices but after our lawyer spoke to them, they did the search mission and were finally able to order our cards when they 'found' our biometrics...I got my card but my wife is yet to get hers, though she got her CP eventually...

Apparently, it happens more if you case is not 'straight' like LIN is for NSC and EAC is for TSC etc. Our case numbers were starting with WAC and then NSC adjudicated our cases, so looks like ASC(that does the biometrics) are likely to send the biometrics to the service center that has that prefix...

texandude,

I do not think you need to worry too much about it for two reasons:
1) They are clearing the pipeline and that is evident from the TSC guys getting theirs.
2) You should ask your lawyer to call them than you calling them. You should call them when the 30 days are over and then open an SR

BTW, my wife got her card in mail today. So things are moving from what we both saw, since we were in similar boat as you are...

Lanwarrior, I called and the Customer Service said all's fine with the case they should be sending the card soon.
Now "soon" is not sure when. You are also reaching the 30 day mark soon and so 'm I by next week. If we dont receive it by end of this week we can open a SR and they will further investigate the delay but the as you mentioned the surge of GC from TSC is a good sign. If you recall till last week most of the cards received were from NSC. TSC is getting their act together. I believe the card comes from Corbin, KY..one facility for all of them but how their production works by service center...god only knows. Hang in there buddy!!..I hope our cards do not have spelling mistake, wrong Sex etc etc as reported by some trackitters once they received their cards, mostly TSC cases.
