Topic: Is there any I-485 case which was denied because of a negative FBI name check?
Posted by jessicabird (28) 02 Jan 2008
I have never heard of any 485 case was denied because of a negative FBI name check (0 out of 1600 approval/denial cases in this website). I believe if the name check is negative, USCIS would definitely deny the 485 case. That means there is no negative name check result. Here is the million dollar question: Why does USCIS still need to wait for the FBI name check result if the name check is always positive? Providing more job opportunities for the country is not the right answer.

Because no IO wants to be fingered as the person who let a terrorist or criminal become a permanent resident, especially if it results in death or destruction. Namecheck is designed to discourage those who would fail it from applying in the first place.
